Jordan's Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa welcomed their first child — a baby girl — in the early morning of August 3. The Royal Hashemite Court shared a video showing Crown Prince Hussein holding the baby while reciting a traditional call to prayer for newborns. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa have named their daughter Iman. She is the first grandchild of King Abdullah and Queen Rania of Jordan. Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa were married in a glittering ceremony in June last year.

Queen Rania shared photos of her granddaughter Iman on Saturday, taken at the King Hussein Medical Center, showing the entire Jordanian Royal Family cuddling their newest addition.

I think the name Imani would have been beautiful too and different only slightly from her Auntie while still paying tribute to her.

    1. only male descendants of Abdullah I of Jordan, born to Muslim parents, can ascend the throne of Jordan. So the pressure is still on for Rajwa to produce an heir, or the crown will go to Hussein's younger brother, Hashem

Unless Jordan changes the rules she will not be queen. Only men are allowed to be sovereign.

The pressure is not on Rajwa to produce an heir. It is on Hussein, if it is on anyone, as the male determines the sex of the baby.

    4. ... "the male determines the sex of the baby"??

    5. Yes, Coralie! The man determines the sex of a baby, please read a little bit some genetics and biology.

male XY gene determines sex of baby but being in a Muslim culture, people don't see it that way, the focus is on the woman

@19:53 Actually... it's "great-grandmother". "Great grandmother" means a grandmother who is "great" (wonderful, awesome, etc). That little hyphen changes the meaning a lot (I am actually a great-grandmother). Bugs me no end, lol. Google it! ~~Ruthie

Down-to-earth ? Didn't you see the wedding pictures of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa ? Such weddings from the "tales of 1001 nights" are not the usual thing among Western royal families. If I remember it took more than one day before the festivities were over. The female guests needed more than one gala dress. One without the tiara and one for the evening with the tiara. I see the pictures of King Philippe and his daughter CP Elisabeth still before me and CP Amalia of the Netherlands with her parents and Princess Catherine (of Wales) and other English Princesses in their gala dresses. There were a huge amount of guests as well on the wedding ceremony itself as on the evening gala, etc, etc .... Tons of food and drinks and wine had been offered. I think many royal houses do not have so much money to spend on a wedding.
