Such gorgeous, saturated colors in the silks worn by the Bhutanese royals! Am I wrong in thinking the Queen has changed her hairstyle by cutting in some layers around her face? The 2 little children presenting the flowers to the King and Queen are beautiful and adorable. You cannot see too much of the young princes but it's wonderful to see them with their parents. One thing I noticed is the 2 princes are wearing what appears to be identical coats (I'm sure I do not know the correct name so please forgive me) as their father the King. I would love to know if the fabric, style, etc is unique to the royal family males.

    1. I didn't know the name of to the fabric, but is not only for the royals, most males in Bhutan dressed like that on a daily basis, same for the ladies, when I visited the country I bought fabric of many colors and made cushions' covers. There are lots of fabric stores as the garment are not store bought but hand made.
Mongolia is one of my favorite countries in the world, I hope we get more pictures with wonderful landscapes.

Garments are Gho for men and Kira for women. They are made of woven fabric, the scarf can be silk, as can the jacket for the ladies.

    3. Dear Janet. Re: the costumes of the King and Queen of Bhutan.
In my search on travel possibilities to Bhutan (my dream), I came across an article on Bhutan’s colourful costumes which says a lot of the fabrics used for these traditional garments are the work of local weaving traditions using wool and hair from yaks and sheep, cotton and nettles, silk and raw silk. Weaving methods vary from region to region in Bhutan. The history behind these exquisite costumes is yet another story.
NOTE: I’m beginning to find that Bhutan can be an expensive country to visit as they have avoided mass tourism and “discount packages”.
And there's a bit of work involved in getting a visa for Bhutan.
      I'll keep on dreaming 😉
