On July 11, 2024, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the 2024 ESPY Awards ceremony held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The Duke was presented with the prestigious Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2024 ESPY Awards for his work in creating the Invictus Games. Named after the late NFL player and Army Ranger Pat Tillman, the award honors individuals who have made a significant impact through service, leadership, and community involvement. In 2014, Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games, an international adaptive sports event for wounded, injured, and sick veterans and service personnel.
This gown looks nice, but again the length is too long. Meghan's gowns all seem to have the same theme or style/type and color. This gown reminds me so much of the gown that she wore at her wedding after the ceremony. It would be nice to see her in a gown of a different style, and color.
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess of Sussex’s evening dress is from the Californian fashion house STAUD.
DeleteSTAUD is a youngish fashion house created less than 10 years ago by the Californian Sarah Staudinger.
Marie Claire magazine said in their digital edition today ?
“Markle's dress debuted on Staud's runway at New York Fashion Week last September (2023).The piece, featuring draping along the front of the bodice and a cowl halter neck, is currently on sale for $315 at Staud.”
Their current dress range can be seen via ….

deadeggs 13,07 thank you for sharing.
DeleteIn a recent fashion article they talk about the Californian stylist who advised Duchess Meghan on her dress for the ESPY awards.
DeleteKnown as Jamie Mizrahi. She appears to be the ‘go-to’ stylist for a lot of top American names.

deadeggs 12.08, Thats interesting, I hadn't seen that. I will have to research. Thank you for sharing.
DeleteI agree with you about her choice in gowns. Any floor length gown that Meghan wears is always too long - regardless of it being an Evening event or a Daytime one - as in the gold/yellow coloured gown that she wore in Nigeria to "visit school children" during a regular school day. The gown was inappropriate for day time, for meeting children especially as she was talking to them about self esteem - an area she has never been lacking in. As you said, her gowns are often of a similar style, profile, cut, material. Given she claimed she felt compelled to dress in understated beige, neutral, black or white outfits only whilst being a Working Royal, in order to not stand out, since being back in the States, she still wears mostly black, white, beige, neutrals. Fashion + fit, has never been her strong suit.
DeleteMeghan est superbement élégante, pas objective mais j adore cette personne
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
Merci… I totally agree with you. LRB
DeleteAnother white halterneck gown. Why not use the Stella McCartney one from your wedding day. At least, it was a better fit.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet nother pointless award ceremony marred by controversy - of course, avoiding the red carpet and the press. Utterly pointless. AK
Award ceremonies serve three main purposes: legitimize a person and/or cause (often ideological or political), flatter people´s ego, get public attention/PR. Often, there is a financial benefit as well. I have long since lost all interest in any award ceremony. Even the once prestigious awards have been corrupted and are now used/abused for the above purposes, including the Nobel prizes. I my view, there is only one criteria to go by to measure prize-worthiness, and that is public acceptance. Even public opinion can be manipulated of course, but it is much harder to do and won´t work forever. People/Causes who are accepted, beloved and admired by the general public don´t need a prize or award to be valued.
DeleteAbsolutely agreed. Always the same thing. CS
DeleteWhy not say nothing if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute? Not everyone hates for the sake of hating. Meghan looks gorgeous, as usual. A beautiful couple.
DeleteHow about this for a thought. Either her wedding dresses are things she chooses never to wear again… do many people rewear wedding dresses?…OR indeed her shape , though still slim, has changed since she has been through three pregnancies and two births. LRB
DeleteAnon 16.06, this is fashionblog and AK commented on fashion.
DeleteAnonymous 16:06. I don’t think the comment is worthless, because it makes a valid point re gown similarities. Having different opinions is not hate. Making a comment just to tell someone else not to make one is quite ironic though! I think she looks lovely in the gown but also prefer the wedding party gown, although I prefer her hair here - G.
Delete@ Anonymous 16:06
DeleteI agree with you.
Agree, Anon 12 27 and 14 38. And so say many of us.
Delete@Anon 16:06 I always wonder the same thing. They must have very little self control.
DeleteWearing the dress from her wedding reception wouldn't be done. That was a one wear dress, just as Kate's was, just as Eugenie's was. Suggesting that was just to Meghan-bash. The style is very flattering on her and there is no reason she shouldn't repeat it.
Completely agree, totally pointless, unless you do anything for attention.
DeleteAnon 12.27 I agree with you re: the halter neck gown. Her gowns all have the same concept and shade of color. I often wonder what she would look like in a different type of style.
DeleteAK, your comment is deeply offensive. There is absolutely NOTHING pointless about The Invictus Games or any award that Prince Harry receives for founding them. He deserves all praise and awards for his compassionate and enlightened work. It is inhumane to say that the wounded and disabled veterans of war who participate are in a pointless enterprise in any way. Interviews with participants who have experienced terrible trauma express praise and even love for Harry and his vision. The fashion at this event is secondary but I respect that this is a fashion blog and will say that both Meghan and Harry are elegantly and appropriately dressed for such an event.
DeleteAK, to you the ESPY awards may mean nothing, but to the athletes who work their arses off and train hard this award means a lot. Just because sports aren't your thing don't rain on their parade.
DeleteCindi
And I think Meghan looks great. Its hard to pull off simplicity and she does so Bravo.
@anon 12/7 22:34, thank you, well said!
DeleteThey both look good and I love Meghan's qown. She has the perfect shape to wear it. Lovely!
Megan looks lovely. She wears white gowns very well, and this is a beautiful one. Her hair looks good too, styled like this for the overall look. She looks like she has lost weight.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
you’re. very generous with your compliments …I just can’t bring myself to say a good word…I can’t find a good word that suits them ….
ReplyDeleteRachel and Henry, he accepting a reward another brave soldier should have been gifted. No comments on fashion, as they are not working royals, but a prince and a woman who have disgraced themselves by their bad mouthing QE, the current King, wife, William, Catherine, and anyone else they could. Such a shame, they could have done good in this world instead of being 'constant victims' and everyone else, including her own father, just tossed away. Serena
ReplyDeleteGorgeous halter dress. Meghan looks great, she can really wear this kind of dress.
ReplyDeleteSuperbly elegant Duchess of Sussex in her signature clean-lined style. It’s hard to see her earrings clearly but I wonder if they are the pearls given to her by Her Late Majesty, Elizabeth. The Duke looks very well and also elegantly turned out.
ReplyDeleteI read somwhere that the Duchess's earings are diamonds.
DeleteIt also said that she is wearing a Cartier bracelet.
The earrings are diamonds ( or white sapphire?) in emerald cut. anna e.
DeleteShe is looking very beautiful - the dress is flattering.
ReplyDeleteShe is looking anorexic;
ReplyDeletehas lost too much weight😳
Too slim to be attractive
ReplyDeleteOh come off it. You've never heard what Wallis Simpson said?
DeleteA woman can never be too rich or too slim.
Dead eggs: funny you should mention dear Wallis.
DeleteDo not like this dress, she looks to fragile in it. Could be she lost a lot of weight, she does not look so radiant as before.
ReplyDeleteOzempic ??
DeleteShe is most likely at her pre baby weight.
DeleteOdd fit on the gown -- are the side seams supposed to be puckered?
ReplyDeleteNice dress and also bit boring. Thought the same about the side seams. Not very well tailored
DeleteNot odd but bad fit I am afraid
DeleteNice dress, a lovely dutchess - and a handsome Prince.
ReplyDelete/AA
Duchess, she definitely is not Dutch !!
DeleteWhether you like them or not what Prince Harry's Invictus games does for the disable gives them something to look forward to and for a brief while they do not have to dwell on their disability. Meghan does look stunning in her dress!
ReplyDeleteWell said. <3
DeleteOdd, my comment had a Name attached, yet was NOT published. Freedom of speech! Serena
ReplyDeleteCalm down…sometimes comments whether favorable or not just don’t go through because of a glitch. A few of mine haven’t and I’m not screaming about free speech.
DeleteSerena, sometimes the commenting doesn’t go through, and comments even offensive or stupid are almost never removed. Just try again, it happens to us all occasionally that there’s a glitch. It’s actually someone’s blog so it’s not a freedom of speech matter in the end anyway but what they allow us to do in their space! - Grace
DeleteMy comments were not favorable to Rachel and Henry, thus they were no published, no glitch, just censorship. Serena
DeleteNice outfit for Meghan and great color. should the side of the dress hip part be this way? She seems to be a bit too clingy, maybe it is only me. Serina's dress is odd looking like fish scales. Maybe Harry will donate the Award to the Wounded Worriers. css
ReplyDeleteAnd here we go it's so nice to see people on this blog still continue to show what nice people they are spreading their love over Meghan. Meghan looks absolutely smashing. In a gorgeous dress that there is nothing, nothing wrong with, and still...
ReplyDeleteFashion is a highly subjective subject. This is a fashion blog, and I made a comment or observation on her gown.
DeleteAnd no, I don't 'hate' them, why should I? I find them highly amusing in a tragi-comical sort of way. And I reserve the right to keep commenting on them.
And no one on this blog has the moral high ground on this issue. For example, I would never stoop so low as to call any post worthless, as someone did in their reply to me. AK
Both of them still playing the victim role, poor us. Odd then that so many who supported them, famous, or everyday people have turned away from their mean attitudes, and look at the real people underneath.
DeleteHating Meghan gives people pleasure… that says more about them than it does about Meghan frankly. But St Kate can do no wrong. LRB
DeleteLRB - Not liking a public person’s public actions or not liking their fashion isn’t hate. It’s just fine to have other opinions here as long as they’re respectfully written. - Grace.
DeleteAnon 13.15, agree by now I would say she is canceled, noone wants to be attached anymore.
DeleteTechnically Serena isn’t actual royalty, more tennis royalty. But oh my goodness I hardly recognised her. She’s had a transformation of biblical (well maybe not biblical!!)proportions!
ReplyDeleteShe looks amazing.
I also noticed her sister Venus was present, wearing a beautiful mint green dress very similar to meghan’s.
This seasons trend is the trend of the halt neck.Great for those that can pull it off. Sadly those days are gone for me! 😂
Lowri.
Venus looked lovely sitting in the front row, especially with her glaring look of utter disapproval towards both Harry in receiving the Award knowing it was against Tillmans Mothers thoughts, and how Venus glared as Meghan stood up to incite others to give Harry an ovation. However not everyone followed Megs command.
DeleteI like Meghan’s style, young, fresh and elegant, but I’m not really into this dress, something wrong with the draping around the neck… And what about that fishy red dress, creepy !
ReplyDeleteThat dress seems cheap and poorly made, just look at the seams on the sides. This woman doesn't seem elegant to me, she seems vulgar and ordinary to me.
DeleteI only hope they got away safely this time.
ReplyDeleteYes, I wonder if they had a convoy of Taxis waiting on standby to give the slip to any potential car chases.
DeleteThe comment on the photos lacks the information that Mrs. Mary Tillmann - Pat Tillmann's mother - expressed her disapproval that Harry should receive the award. "I am shocked as to why they would select such a controversial and divisive individual to receive the award," she said. "There are recipients that are far more fitting. There are individuals working in the veteran community who are doing tremendous things to assist veterans. These individuals do not have the money, resources, connections, or privilege that Prince Harry has. I feel that those types of individuals should be recognized.” Stephanie
ReplyDeleteI agree with Mrs. Tillman.
DeletePerhaps Mrs Tillman needs to do a little more research on IG - something her son would have been proud to be part of. She was of course paid for her comments… she could have done an interview to a free outlet in the US but she chose to be paid by the Fail, because we all know the Fail will pay people to make hateful remarks about H&M. Have you bothered to listen to Harry’s very generous comments to Mrs Tillman in his speech? He was extremely gracious to her. LRB
DeleteTO LRB: Your comments about Mrs. Tillmann are deeply offensive. Mrs. Tillmann certainly knows more about things than you do. She lost her son and someone like you is accusing her of being paid for her comments.
DeletePS: Harry's appearances and speeches are always coordinated by their PR team. Stephanie
Really LRB? You know Pat Tillman better than his mother?
DeleteMrs. Tillman's comments were completely out of line. Her other son and the widow are on the selection panel. What a way to embarrass them publicly.
DeleteTo LRB whether or not Mary Tillman was paid to voice her opinion, is irrelevant. Her thoughts were heartfelt, from her place of "truth". She spoke "her truth" about believing Harry wasn't worthy of the Award held in her son's honour. If she was paid, she may have chosen to donate that money to the Foundation set up in her son's name, as a way of continuing his Service to the country. As for paid appearances, Harry + Meghan, each, get paid to appear, not a couple payment either but an individual amount for each of them. They don't donate their money anywhere. As for fashion, every outfit worn attending Invictus has been verified on the books, as paid for out of Invictus money. That money should go to the Veterans not to her wardrobe. Before Meg 2016, Harry wore Invictus logo shirts, jackets, to promote the Vets, once she came, promotion became about her. + her fashion choices. Speaking of fashion choices, the white gown at the awards was a poor choice as was Serena's outfit.
DeleteHow can Meghans long big hair be such a small topknot?
ReplyDeleteBecause her weave is out
Delete17.58 So Meghans long big hair is extensions?
DeleteThe lenght is probably hers, but not the thickness
DeleteI thought bias cut dresses were made to ‘fall’ on the body, not cling to the body.
