It is the monarch's duty as head of state to formally open each new session of Parliament amid traditions and customs dating back centuries.

  2. This gown looks very elegant. The drape of the gown is well placed. The embroidery, subtle looks lovely. The diamond necklace is beautiful, but the diamond earrings, oh! divine!

First--Happy Birthday to Queen Camilla! I hope she had a wonderful private day after all the ceremonial duties were completed. Second--she's having a birthday that I'd find fabulous--getting to get all dressed up in a gorgeous gown, putting on a fabulous crown of diamonds along with other grand diamonds, and riding in an incredible historic coach. However, I do understand if the Queen might feel a bit different especially after 2 busy days on the Channel Islands. Still, she and the King look magnificent! I love her gown--its simplicity allows all those jewels to shine.

It looks like the Parliament doesn't take a summer vacation in the U.K. or do they have their holidays later ? When I looked at the last picture I was having the impression they all came out of a time capsule or that I looked at an image from a movie. I do not envy the men with the wigs. It must be warm to wear in the summer.

  8. Charles looks rather sick, I must say. Hope he is well. Camilla lovely as usual. I am sure young Camilla Shand would have laughed her head off if she's been told she's be Queen at 75. But she's really very good at it.
