Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie, and their children, Prince Charles and Prince François, visited the Ettelbruck Agricultural Fair 2024 (FAE). For many years, the town of Ettelbruck has organized the Agricultural Fair (FAE), a showcase for Luxembourg agriculture and the largest open-air fair in Luxembourg. This year, the national agricultural network is represented by some 350 exhibitors.

In 1883, the first agricultural exhibition was opened in the presence of King Wilhelm III and Queen Emma in Ettelbruck. This key agricultural event takes place annually on the first weekend in July in the Deich meadows in Ettelbruck.

The children are precious! What a wonderful event to include them and both boys look like they are having fun. As for fashion--I am at a loss for what Stephanie is wearing. Nothing is working together. The only part of her outfit that is good here is the sweater--but the pants and blouse are all wrong in more than one way. OK--maybe she cannot wear jeans (even though jeans would have been perfect here) but a nice pair of chinos in blue, khaki, or olive drab green would have been great. It appears the tie part of the blouse is not detachable so it should have been left at home and she should have worn a simple shirt. She's attending an agricultural show so comfortable more or less ath/leisure clothes were what she needed. I can think of lots of styles for her that would coordinate with her sweater. Kudos on the great ponytail--perfect for her and perfect for the event.

Why can't the HGD wear jeans? They would have been perfect here. Violet slacks with a rust brown pullover is bizarre. Thank goodness for those delicious little princes to distract me!

Fashionwise I won't comment but this family is wonderful. Two cuties and engaging parents who brighten up any event. Especially Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie seems to be a lovely woman. I.P.

    1. Dear I.P.
I won’t make a comment either about fashion.
I think that for about 3 years now, Princess Stephanie has given priority to being a mum, a real mother hen.
If she has any time left at the end of the day, she thinks about herself, what to wear, hairstyle, accessories etc.
      Just like most mums do.
If that is the case, I congratulate her and how lucky those two little sweetie pies are.
I think Prince Guillaume is in ‘papa’ mode.
It would be nice if the Grand Duke and Duchess could stay on for a few more years.

Come on. It’s not as though she has no help with her family. There really is no excuse for her not to dress in a more suitable manner.

Not the best outfit. To my eye nothing really coordinates…a random mix of blouse, trousers and vest. Her hair looks good though, and her smile is wonderful. As she continues to take on a more senior role I really hope she makes use of a good stylist to get her wardrobe in shape. (V.M.)

That's what we thought about the other aristocrat too. Now that she is queen she continues to wear apron dresses.

Such a lovely family! That tie/scarf thing around Stephanie’s neck looks like it would be difficult to manage at this event and with carrying a baby. In some of the pictures, it almost makes her look like she’s got toilet tissue wrapped around her neck.

@21:17 If by "the other aristocrat" you are referring to Queen Mathilde she doesn't always hit the mark fashion wise. But she often looks lovely and elegant as her position requires. As for their status of aristocrats perhaps it gives Stephanie and Mathilde the security of not wanting or needing to try and compete with the fashionista aspirations of the commoner princesses.

The other aristocrat is Queen Camilla. Queen Mathilde dresses very well. Stephanie may of just thrown the sweater on at the last minute, may of been in the car already, as she may of been cold. The little boys are just in shirt sleeves, so I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. Happy to see her mingle with everyone

I never saw Queen Mathilde in apron dresses. In fact she is one of the best dressed queens for the moment and she is praised in the international media for her elegance and good taste.

I think we are gaping to have accept the fact that Stephanie is a lovely woman ,good mother with a beautiful smile and no fashion interest at all. Just like Maxima doesn’t care about her hair. That’s the way they are. Happy and lovely people who do not share our interest in fashion .

One cannot say that Queen Maxima is not interested in fashion. She wears dresses that are designed by famous designers. As to her hair, she has difficult and damaged hair, which cannot be said of HGD Stéphanie who has beautiful and healthy hair. When Queen Maxima has to be dressed formally she always uses hair extensions and/or hair pieces which are incorporated in her own hair. The thing with HGD Stéphanie is that she is always accompanied by her children. I think she cannot wear a beautiful outfit when she regularly has to carry a child that is tired. She could have left them at home with a nanny, like so many aristocratic ladies do. But I think the children are coming in the first place. The way how she looks is coming secondly. Prince Guillaume himself is also carrying his eldest son Prince Charles. I think this exhibition was particularly interesting for children because of the animals.

  10. I sometimes wonder if she dresses in the dark. She may not have an interest in fashion, which is fine, but she has a position to maintain and the means to hire a stylist to curate a set of comfortable, well-made, and attractive wardrobe for her. I wish she would do that. She seems like a lovely woman who enjoys her work, but is is work and she should dress accordingly.

    2. I agree, she doesn't need to be a fashionista, but she has a job/role representing a family, country, history, etc and she should dress accordingly, as Lisa Maria says just get a stylist and crate a wardrobe that works for her and her position.
Have said that, she does come across as a sweet, caring lady perfectly capable.

I agree with the comment about the ‘commoner princesses’. The are a bit like new money versus old money and old nobility. The last maybe have the confidence to be themselves, without having to compete fashionwise , where as the new kids on the block need to proof themselves ( also versus old money and nobility) and do so f. e. through fashion. Princess An is always dressed in quality clothing but never feels the need to be fashionable …

Princess Anne is not exactly an example to look at. Sometimes her shoes or clothes are so old that one can see it on the pictures. And then that hair. It is not because you belong to old money that you are excused not to wear elegant or lovely clothes. There are still fashion houses who only sell classic and elegant clothes of good quality. These clothes are made today and not 30 or 40 years ago like the ones Princess Anne is wearing. Her hair is as bad as queen Maxima's but in another way.

The lady in the pink blazer and white pants looks nice, casual but neat. Perhaps Stephanie should ask her how to cobble together a professional outfit for a more casual occasion.

It would be nice if the Grand duke and Duchess could stay on for a few more years to let them have some family time before taking on the role of Grand Duke and Duchess.

      @ Deadeggs
It is up to grand duke Henri and grand duchess Maria Teresa what is the best for them and their family. There already have been family reunions about that matter. I think we will see it more and more in the future that the younger generation of Kings and Queens in Europe will not stay until they are very ill or very old. The younger generation of royals also wish to retire at an age when it is still possible to enjoy life as grandparents and or to travel or do other things they are interested in.
