I think Mary has many more ‘hits’ in her outfits than not. Most of the time I think she looks elegant and well put together and has some beautiful clothes. This may not be her best outfit but she looks nice and comfortable.

    4. You will find a lot of people disagreeing with you on that subject. This is just a very casual Scandinavian Summer outfit. When Queen Margrethe used to watch the changing of guards at Graasten Summer Residence she also wore very informal outfits. It's their custom on this occasion.

    6. Have you not seen Princess Stephanie of Luxembourg? Lovely young lady, but style wise she's got a way to go yet.

Are you joking :-) It’s a bit hard too take that seriously, when everyone who knows anything about fashion says otherwise!

Well, I’d like to see her wardrobe.
Now that’s certain to give people a good laugh.

Do not exaggerate. I am not a special fan of Queen Mary, but I think she is dressed casual. Besides King Frederik is dressed casual too. Just like his mother did : former Queen Margrethe. She was always dressed casual when she was on vacation in one of her summer residences. And if she could watch the changing of guards in her cotton dress without wearing tights, Mary can too.

In my opinion she is one of the best dressed queens. Love her modern yet elegant style. I love this outfit too, but to me these slippers are too casual. You should dress a bit more formal as a form of respect to the military.

Really? What stone are you coming from? Was it a good hiding?

Mary is (if one really feels the need to compare) one of the best dressed royals (if not THE bast).

I love these two, so don't jump down my throat, but when the band or other marchers are in their formal outfits, less casual attire by the King and Queen would be appropriate. That said, I think they look amazing 99.999 % of the time.

I guess I learn something new everyday, lol. That isn't what I'd have called a cardigan or a cardi, but there you are. Sweater coats was the term once used. I like the tie-and-dye pattern of this one and the colours; Mary did well to wear something white underneath it.

The gown was altered, and I have to say I preferred it in its original state. But maybe Mary wants to make the pieces more personal by altering them.

Paloma.

It means old boots or shoes. C'est correct?

No, deadeggs, I think ‘ciabatte’. Irene

    3. Je pencherais pour le mot "claquettes" pour des chaussures d'été très plates mais élégantes car le mot "savates" conviendrait plutôt à un style dans lequel le pied n'est pas du tout serré et très décontracté ressemblant un peu à des babouches !

This cardi-something, a wannabe-casual piece of clothing, is a re-wear and I remember that I did not like it the first time. It looks like something you pulled out of a second-hand clothes container (sorry everyone who likes it - just my impression). Maybe better worn with ballerinas - but the slippers she wears make the cardi even worse - the whole outfit is like being surprised by the doorbell ringing ... I am all for casual, especially on holiday - on the other hand, I watch these ladies because they are *not* like one of us (and don't try to do as if they were).

That said, Mary is, in general and usually, one of the best dressed royals for me. This does not apply to Frederik.

They both look fine in just ordinary clothes. The colours in the sweater match everything else. I am thinking perhaps she felt her top/T-shirt was to cool to wear outdoors for the occasion so covered up with a sweater. I like it.

Great casual looks from both the King and Queen. They look relaxed and happy. I like Queen Mary's look--the sweater duster jacket gives a pop of color to her white top and skirt--and it adds a bit of warmth if she felt cool. Hope King Frederik will continue the tradition of summer photo shoots.

Did anybody noticed that in general the young kings and queens copy their parents more or less : Queen Mary and King Frederik copy queen Margrethe by wearing their casual clothes during vacation in one of the summer residences. King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima copy Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus to go to their summer residence respectively in Greece and Italy and are wearing clothes in which we've never seen them before. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are going each year to their summer residence in France just like his mother and father Queen Paola and King Albert did, etc...If the paparazzi had the occasion to take pictures they were all dressed down during their vacation. I remember to go to the local market, Queen Paola wore simple cotton skirts and a white T-shirt or blouse. King Albert cotton trousers and a polo shirt or another shirt with short sleeves. When a photograph shoots a picture of King Philippe in his free time he usually wears yellow or red cotton trousers a shirt and if necessary a sweater on his shoulders in a contrasting color. Queen Mathilde is wearing a cotton skirt or cotton trousers and a simple top generally white or sometimes an ethnic tunica. I think they must be feeling really free to be able to dress down and not to worry what will be published in the media about them.

It may look casual but the clothes are brand new and expensive in Denmark. Margrethe used to wear old skirts and shirts in Graasten.
