King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are making an official visit to Greenland. On July 1, 2024, King Frederik and Queen Mary arrived in Attu by the Royal Yacht Dannebrog on the 3rd day of their visit to Greenland. The King and Queen were welcomed by Mayor Ane Hansen and members of the municipal council.
Attu is located on a small island of the same name in the Qeqertalik municipality. King Frederik and Queen Mary visited the village's church, school, and kindergarten in Attu. The King unveiled a memorial for Attu's 200th anniversary.
Ralph Lauren Cable-Knit Cashmere Jumper
Mary's scarf looks as though it is made out of possum fur which is lovely and warm. They both look great. I do like the bright outfit of the lady in the fourth picture.I have never seen that flag before;interesting, children look good. Were are Vincent and Josephine? (Tara)
ReplyDeletethe scarf is hand knitted, most likely from a fine wool. Love the Queen´s cap. A nice mix between cap and beret and with a lovely cable knit .
DeleteI read on another blog that the wool is from a muskox, a very impressive animal. The wool is very rare and expensive.
DeleteThe flags are the flag of Greenland. The lady in the fourth picture is wearing Greenlandic traditional clothing. It looks very natural on her. I'll bet it's warm.
DeleteFinally some color! Loving the green cable pullover sweater, yay! S.M.
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteLovely mint green sweater on QM. Looks like she was gifted a polar bear brooch made from walrus ivory. A beautiful gift.
ReplyDeleteKaren
The Queen is wearing good quality clothing, keeping her warm. I like her outer wrap. She appears to have arm cuffs on her wrists, I have never seen them before, great idea. The green RL cable knit jumper looks good with her black pants. A lovely visit.
Paloma.
DeletePaloma, thank you for clarifying. I wasn’t quite sure!
DeleteI fire King Frederick
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean ??
Delete????
DeleteCold at the Northpole!
ReplyDeleteYup
DeleteThey aren't quite that far north! Still, cold, yes.
DeleteNice pics of the K&Q. It must be cold there even in the summer. Like her outfit. css
ReplyDeleteNorth Pole...imagine!!
DeleteMagnifiques photos surtout celles où je vois Mary porter un pull à torsades qui apporte de la couleur !
ReplyDeleteDon’t you just love the candle sticks giving a nice royal “gala” touch to the table where the King and Queen are having their coffee. And Queen Mary’s bouquet. Nature is always around even in a bleak landscape like Greenland.
ReplyDeleteYes, dear @ Deadeggs.
DeleteLighting candles can be considered as a sort of finishing touch when laying the table also in middle class homes.
I have noticed that it's quite common in Sweden, too.
From my personal experience in Sweden, I'd say it is partly a matter of their heritage somehow and partly due to their desire for home intimacy and a way to feel more relaxed.
I've seen Swedish people( even singles) first making their own cooking and hot daintily scented teas and then lighting a candle on their tables before starting their meals.
This happens especially throughout the coldest months but it is also a much practised habit even when transitioning into summer.
Midsummer festivals are so lovely to see in Sweden .
People really enjoy sunlight, open air and set to dance together to celebrate their short warmer summer break from dark wintery months.
They love having a lot of strawberries too!
I remember seeing women preparing their own flower wreaths and put them in place on their heads.
Sometimes they wear traditional gears as well.
And yes, you are right, nature is all around in the Scandinavian countries and in Greenland.
It can be spectacular and frightening at the same time in all its splendour.
Nature is wherever you go.
It can occasionally be the best of friends but it can also suddenly turn into the worst enemy at times.
Thanks P. the original. Interesting and informative.
DeleteIt’s not on my “must-do” tourist agenda at the moment but you’ve got me thinking.😀
Queen Mary loves her work, she is a credit to her adopted monarchy.
ReplyDeleteExactly. She knows what a regular office job looks like and what it pays in contrast to this.
DeleteI doubt that pay was her incentive, Anon 19:54. That's pretty rude to say.
DeleteShe also enrolled in the Starmaker course shortly after having met Frederik.
DeleteQueen Mary looks lovely today. I like her cape, hat and sweater. It looks like she received a brooch made of the tooth of a walrus. Very lovely.
ReplyDeleteLa cape-poncho de Mary est sympa. J'aime beaucoup sa broche ours !
ReplyDeletePaloma.
Sa broche "bear" = "ours" en français ! Paloma
DeleteAs usual, Mary looks fantastic!

ReplyDeleteYou are the biggest joke in all of this. You have made a huge error, and I don't imagine you have any integrity to admit your colossal error in judgement. I am Danish and know more about my own country, than you ever will.
And no, I'm not at fake or impostor, and I'm not mad or imagining things. I don't threaten people or ridicule them, like you do.
And if you really work in Denmark during the week, I'm sure you know the city of Odense on the island of Funen. Odense has a 'domkirke', Skt. Knuds Kirke, and if you have any integrity you'll meet me in front of the church, and we can have a conversation in Danish. And if you are scared, bring a friend as witness. But I don't imagine you have the courage or integrity.
And no, I don't use a translator - for the simple reason I don't need one. Danish is my native tounge - and I don't pretend to know any other Scandinavian languages. And any Dane - or someone with any knowledge of Danish - can spot a translated text from miles away. Clearly you do not have that skill.
Amy/Karen
Sorry, @Amy/ Karen or whatever,
Deletethis is not the way a native Dane would ever talk to a stranger.
Do you realize what you did?
You' re menacing me.
Maybe you didn' t understand what I wrote.
I wasn' t threatening you in the least
Sorry...Odensee, impostor, witness, scared., the church.. do you expect some sort of duel like in some famous novels🤣?
Are you kidding me?
Odensee is not part of my route, pity.
You surely know that there are other importante cities in Denmark, no?
I' m not interested in the least in languages/s you want to elect to write your comments.
Yes, I can speak some Danish, of course, but please, do not expect me to believe your words😂😉
Do you understand what the word integrity implies?
You' re clearly derailing now.
Anyway, @ Anonymous, I much prefer you in the Dutch speaking version, you are much more convincing LOL😉.
Now, please, unwind .
Try again.
Bye👋
Oh, dear @Anonymous at 17:35,
Deleteuhm...just a modest proposal from me...
Next time, please, try to get it right and reply under my comments on the other poster.
Those comments of mine you are referring to are not here as you can see, ok😉
And now please, let me take a deep breath.
You see, duels really frighten me.
I'm totally SCARED and upset.
Bye👋
Amy/Karen, what did P.The Original say that offended you and to cause you to go on a absolute tirade as you did. Leave her alone she always posts interesting comments unlike this garbage you just posted. Get a life and for heavens sake a chill pill and lastly why in the world would she want to meet a mad and deranged woman like you!
DeleteExactly..raving irrelevant rant
DeleteP. the original and Amy/Karen, can you do your cat fight somewhere else?! This has come too ridiculous and has nothing to do with Helen's blog.
DeleteJust Me
Even though this is a fashion blog, I don’t mind people expressing their (non fashion) thoughts/discussions with and against one another but could you please use less words - be more precise.
DeleteRequires a lot of reading and time to keep up with the flow.
I'm a slow reader.
You know, I have two hot meals a day to prepare for my lot (meat and two vegs).
Your co-operation on this point would be appreciated otherwise I'm going to have to buy frozen food for them… thanks.
@deadeggs, hahahha your comment made my morning!!
DeleteTo be fair all us readers on this blog have read P's harsh words a long time. So know where Karen is going with this. Sincerely a neighbour
DeleteFor bloggers who don't know all the expressions in the English language, "my lot" is a synonym for "my family" 😀
DeleteThere we go again. When P. the original is here again the madness starts again.
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in 2023, I decided not to react anymore on what she had to say on my comments. She is not worth it.
Anon 17:00 You're absolutely right.
Delete@Anon 17:00 Yes. There are many others who will agree with you. From 2023 and before that. My reaction is the same as yours.
DeleteThe creepy thing is the obsession with Scandis, and describing to everyone else how danes and swedes are/behave/live etc
DeleteComments supportive of Amy will not get published. Her first comment was nice and positive, look at the answer!
DeleteI can't understand why this irate behaviour against commenters making perfectly sensible comments is accepted. These furious attacks for no apparent reason are quite disturbing.
