Princess Leonor of Spain is making an official visit to Portugal at the invitation of the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. On July 12, 2024, Princess Leonor arrived at Vigo Maduro Military Airport in Lisbon and was greeted by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. The Princess was then received, with full military honours, at Belém Palace by President Marcelo. Following this, Crown Princess Leonor and the Portuguese President visited the Oceanarium in Lisbon.

A red power suit. She looks great and seemingly at ease with her task.

What a perfect choice for a bright and beautiful future queen for her first solo state visit.
ReplyDeleteI know it’s been said many times before but this young lady is very impressive. She has poise, confidence, intelligence, dedication to duty and humbleness as well as beauty. Spain is very fortunate to have her as future queen. And she looks lovely in the red pant suit. The color suits her!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! She's amazing and so dedicated to her role as crown princess.
DeleteWell said, I agree.

This is what being born into your job sounds like.
DeleteTrès belle
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
Always a classy young beauty!
ReplyDeleteIt almost makes a person wistful to see her make an official visit on her own, while looking so professional and well put together.
ReplyDeleteShe looks simply wonderful - the suit is perfectly tailored and a gorgeous colour. Carolina Herrera has been one of her mother’s best designers for years and I’m happy to see that Leonor is wearing the brand too. I’m so impressed with this young woman’s poise and confidence on her first solo trip outside of Spain. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteShe looks really very good in this CH pantsuit. The fit is fabulous. Love the addition of her red bag and pale shoes. She is so mature and engaging, for her years. Her side profile, she reminds me very much of her father. She is a beautiful woman and Princess.
ReplyDeleteI think she looks fantastic! And I don't know if Spain put the profile of their monarch on their money but if they do, her profile is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSpain has won the jackpot.
DeletePrincess Leonor, who could ask for more.
@ Deadeggs
DeleteIn total agreement with you.
Princess Leonor has all that is needed to be a fabulous future Queen.
I am almost in owe seeing how mature, confident, professional, poised and incredibily gorgeous she looks.
A triumphal first solo engagement abroad for her.
* in awe
DeleteLove this red outfit on her. Wonderful to see such a confident young women.
ReplyDeleteSuzie Q
Her parents have done a wonderful job with her (and Sofia) and should rightly be proud of her. Spain is very lucky to have her as a future queen!
DeleteLovely.
ReplyDeleteMost impressive, and a fashionable beauty. Well done.

Leonore looks beautiful. This red suit is fantastic on her, maybe the shoes should be a different pair. I must say she is very poised. css
ReplyDeleteGreat to see this poised and confident young lady undertaking an official visit in her own right. The red trouser suit is a great choice. She looks terrific
ReplyDeleteAnnieM
Maybe a dumb question but in what language do they communicate? I know Spanish and Portuguese are closely related and in the same language family so perhaps they are able to make themselves understood? Or maybe Leonor, a very talented young woman, knows Portuguese or President de Sousa knows Spanish? Or another language altogether?
ReplyDeleteAnd Leonor looks absolutely smashing in her red suit…
It's not a dumb question, I was wondering the same thing and actually looked for a third person or translator in some of the photos! But, she is the visitor, so the first guess would be she is speaking Portuguese. Then there is the photo where she is speaking to more than one person with a mike. Great first impression, great suit! Christine
DeleteWe've followed her from baby to a beautiful young woman who looks very confident & capable. The President presented her with the Grand Cross of the Military Order of Christ. ~~Ruthie
ReplyDeleteWow! What an impressive young lady! You need confidence and courage to pull off a state visit at that young age. Her parents raised her well. While I applaud her choice of a red 'power suit', I think a double breasted blazer is not the best choice for her body type. A single row jacket would have created more of a waist line. Also the shoes are too pointed to match the suit. at least in my opinion. Sadly her hair is not as glamerous and shiny as we have seen before. But as she is in military training, maybe she has not the time for a lot of hairstyling. All in all she looks marvelous.
ReplyDeleteShe looks lovely and confident. I only wish she had done something with her hair.
ReplyDeleteI think her hair looks marvelous!
DeleteLeonor looks like she has been doing this for years. She looks fantastic! What a beautiful suit in both color and cut. She is engaging and appears very confident. I'm sure she has two very proud parents!
ReplyDeleteIf I were her mother, I wouldn't be able to stop crying with happiness.
Amazing suit on an amazing young lady. She seems to have slid into this role with such ease and poise. LRB
ReplyDeleteA 19 year old nepo baby. Not sure she has the life experience to provide insights to experienced leaders.
ReplyDeleteAgree completely
DeleteBut she needs to learn how to tread on the diplomatic floor. That is what visiting your next door neighbour is about in the first place. I am sure that Portugal's political leaders are quite aware of that and treat this visit for what it is - testing the diplomatic waters. Also, I think the term "nepo baby" is very rude. The Princess of Asturias might be born into many privileges, indeed, but she also needs to do some work, and learning how to become a Queen Regnant one day is certainly no easy task. It's not all about cutting ribbons, you know.
DeleteOf course she’s a nepo baby! Isn’t that how most royalty works? The monarch passes down their role to their heir just like Elizabeth II passed down her role to Charles, Harald V of Norway to Haakon, etc. And it seems most of the ‘nepo’ heirs (with exceptions of course…ahem, Prince Andrew)) realize they are where they are because of their birth and not because they are special or talented in any way. Yes, they do live privileged lives and doors will open because they are royal but that’s hardly their fault, is it? Leonor is 18 and is poised, confident and mature with a strong sense of duty because her parents brought her up to realize how fortunate she is . And she is getting life experience by meeting with leaders and to learn from them. How else do you get experience? And even at her young age she may have insights and perspectives an older leader may not have.
DeleteAgree that the term ‘nepo baby’ is rude. It seems to indicate a spoiled, entitled, self absorbed person who is lazy but thinks they have worked hard to get where they are. Leonor is none of those things.
DeleteActually she was invited by Portugal's President, he is close friend of her dad.
DeleteI don't agree that she is a nepo baby. She is not using her family connections and legacy to make a name for herself, she was born to assume a future role. There is a big difference between the two. She has no choice in her future. That is what is rather sad about being born into royalty. Depending on your rank, if it is not a life you would have chosen, you are stuck. Felipe and Letizia appear to have given their daughters a fairly grounded upbringing, compared to royal generations past. Save the criticism. There is nothing here that warrants it.
DeleteOf all the royal households having daughers her age today, she is the least nepo baby of them all. Ingrid Alexandra and Catharina-Amalia have a lot to learn!
DeleteAgree with all comments !! She is so convincing.
ReplyDeleteWhat an impressive visit at such a young age!
ReplyDeleteShe seems totally in control in her strong coloured perfect suit.
I'm not a fan of double-breasted blazers, but Leonor is tall with a well-proportioned figure, and with Carolina Herrera's good tailoring, it all comes together perfectly. Leonor oozes professionalism and competence. And she appears to be self-confident and sensible and down-to-earth, a nice mix. Already, she's a royal powerhouse.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, I think her beautiful face looks very much like her mother. AK
The beauty of both parents and so Princess Sophia.
DeleteThe beauty of both parents and so Princess Sophia.
ReplyDeletePaloma.
Re: the red pantsuit from Carolina Herrera.
DeleteCarolina Herrera is now 85 years old. I think her contribution to Haute Couture, perfumes, accessories etc. is now as an advisor and manager of her name. She has 4 children who may have taken over parts of her original company. I think the original high principles on which she built her empire have been well adhered to after the takeover by other big fashion names e.g. Puig and others.
She has worked for the crème de la crème and I think it was/is an obligation for every American first lady to have a Carolina Herrera piece in her wardrobe.
It appears her name is still attracting Haute Couture buyers.
She’s an immensely impressive young lady. The list of which continues to grow.Similarly to Elisabeth of Belgium. What an astounding representative of her country she is. Looking absolutely stunning in her red CH suit.
ReplyDeleteLowri.
Wow. The tailoring is just superb. Imo few of our royal ladies look good in pantsuits, but Leonor is an exception. Perhaps, more often than not, it is a tailoring issue.
ReplyDeleteShe is The Princess of Asturias, not Crown Princess.
ReplyDeleteIt just means that the brand Caroline Herrera suits her. Hugo Boss also a good brand, ask Queen Letizia. Other queens and princesses benefit from the design of De Poorter, Max Mara, etc... a question of finding the best designer for your morphology.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked Carolina Herrera clothing. Not a fan of double breasted suits on men or women, nor the position of the top row of buttons on this suit. The key to a garment looking good is a style that fits with the persons proportions or tailored to do so. The spainish royals domthis well.
ReplyDeleteShe's just so pretty and poised. She is adapting to her role very well. I'm sure all of Spain is very proud of her.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and poised--this red power suit is perfect for Leonor. She is lovely and represents her county marvelously. I know her parents must be so proud.
ReplyDeleteJanet
The suit is perfection, looks definitely better on her than on the model. Really impressive young woman, as many of you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteThe trousers look fantastic and I like the colour of the suit, but the jacket is a bit boxy, I think. There could be a sleeker silouhette.
ReplyDeleteSu Alteza Real LEONOR será una reina afectuosa y con los pies en la tierra. Ya digna como futura Reina de España
ReplyDeleteWould take her ahead of my own likely future head of state (not willing to start a controversy, won’t disclose who that would be).
ReplyDeleteSo little sense of entitlement! So much genuine respect. Hat off!!!
CH
Dear CH.
DeleteAre we allowed to have a guess? And will the winner get a prize? 😀
Too much red, and a very strong red. I know she is the future queen and needs to dress accordingly, but still, the suit impacts a very severe look on her.
ReplyDeleteOK folks so let’s be honest here. The truth is sometimes bitter but always best. So whether we like it or not the very essence of royalty is 100% nepotism. Crown princes/princesses together with their siblings and extended family members are all nepo babies via birth and inheritance. Ditto for those born into wealthy business corporate families, academic families, acting families, music families, etc. However there’s an essence of meritocracy among non-royals because they get to choose and forge their own paths. Fact is that a wealthy successful parents can pass down their investments, businesses, gifts, money, contacts, etc to their children. However unlike royal families, this is not automatic.
ReplyDeleteSince ‘the royal system’ works for certain nations it is therefore deemed an acceptable, safe, peaceful transitional form of constitutional monarchical democracy from one government administration to another hence the presence of a Prime Minister. This particular young lady like all others born into wealth and position has the added benefit and privilege of number of aristocratic titles including The Princess of Asturias which affirms her as sovereign in waiting. This is not her fault, if anything it’s her blessing. Fortunately she knows what’s expected of her and seems to be carrying out her role and responsibilities remarkably well for an 18 year old. So I say, wonderful for her and magnificent for Spain. BTW, outside of Victoria of Sweden but in addition to Leonor of Spain, there are a good number of beautiful level headed, self assured, well behaved, diplomatically poised Generation Z future Regnant Queens - Catharina-Amalia of The Netherlands, Elisabeth of Belgium, Ingrid-Alexandra of Norway, Estelle of Sweden, etc. Europe is in good hands.
@Anon 13:01 your comments are well said.
DeleteAgree, we can sleep well at night, Europe is in good hands.
To the person who commented about Leonor being the least nepo-baby, do you think Ingrid-Alexandra and Catharina-Amalia have a lot to learn? Why do you say that? It's not a criticism, I'm just interested.
