The subject is about the royalty in Bhutan, not Mongolia

You said “The subject is about the royalty in Bhutan, not Mongolia”.
You are right and, you know, Helen must block comments that don’t stick to the subject.

Is the capture wrong then ? Just Me understood it like I did. The capture said that the pictures were taken during their private time with the children during their recent visit to Mongolia. Never been to Mongolia but the pictures taken in the desert and the ride on the camels accompanied by the Mongolian camel drivers (picture N°4) does not look like Bhutan.

    7. Anon at 18/7 18:38, you are quite right. You have read the capture as I did (I always read the capture first). It says "a series of family photos.... TAKEN DURING their recent state visit to Mongolia". Is it really too hard for some people to read first what it is about? 🙈.

They only dress traditional (formal) when on state visit or when other kings or princes visit them. In their free time they are dressed like modern people. I saw pictures of them earlier taken during a holiday, don't remember where or when, but I remember they all were dressed in up-to-date clothes.

It is not the customary thing to do in Bhutan. In fact, the country's laws and religious/spiritual (Buddhist) beliefs are against polygamy. I will now explain why the Spiritual Leader of Bhutan once made a very rare and extremely unusual exception for King Jigme Singye Wangchuck (the current king's father) to marry four sisters. It all had to do with making amends toward the sisters' family, the Dorjis, who had to take a huge blow by the Wangchuck Dynasty in the early 1930s, some sort of bitter feud, resulting in the death of the Dorji's patriarch then. To mend the rift between the Wangchucks and the Dorjis, it was suggested that Jigme Singye would take all four daughters of the Dorji family as his wives in 1979. It had to pass legislation and also to get the approval of the Highest Religious Leader of the country, the Je Khenpo. After that was obtained, the then king took all four of them for his wives. It all went quite well and did not create much drama. But for King Jigme Khesar (current king), polygamy is not an option. The old due has been settled long since.

Beautiful photos of a beautiful family! What an amazingly beautiful place Mongolia is. Love seeing this royal family in a more relaxed setting wearing what must casual clothes. The 3 children are so cute--and the baby princess is precious--thinking she might just be a daddy's girl by that big smile in the first picture.
