      Why in uniform this time?

    3. Anon2:23 - Yes, but the two names were missing in the initial description of the event. However, now it seems they have been added to it later on.

Why was Charles in uniform on a remembrance day for WWII...think.

6:41 CP Haakon also participated on other ceremonial events remembering Norways fallen soldiers. There is also different protocol on the royal houses what to wear on state business. Haakon and King Harald also wear uniform at council of state. https://www.kongehuset.no/aim/kongehuset2/files/7/6/c/26603cdf5bea84538b64eca753844657c6ed91a78e/76c26603cdf5bea84538b64eca753844657c6ed91a78e.jpg/Scale?geometry=680x1280%3E

Anon 20.26, is he trying to follow Charles, otherwise I don’t understand your comment? On the national day only Ingrid Alexandra wore a uniform and now when noone else is wearing a uniform, Haakon is wearing one…

I wonder from which part of the British Forces the uniform is King Charles is wearing in Normandy ? I never saw him in this beige uniform.

11:42 shouldn't sit on her high horse on something she hasn't a clue about. Ingrid is in the military, that's why she used a uniform. Just like others before her. All the royal houses has their own rules what they wear to official events like this obviously Norway and UK's custom is uniform. Why not just accept it.

As I understand the King is wearing a Warm weather Service Dress for the army, that can only be used by officers.

Maxima and Jill Biden both look very well attired. Mathilde’s outfit is appropriate for the occasion but her coat seems so voluminous it swamps her.

    3. Anonymous9/6/24 18:13

      @ Deadeggs
When the t° is -40° C ? I've known t° in Austria of -25 ° C and I can assure you with a thick ski anorak, a thick hat that covers the ears, snow boots and ski gloves it was too cold to stay a long time outside. I think Queen Mathilde with her light woolen coat would be freezing death in -40° C. The coat looks thick because too much fabric has been used to make it.

  6. Crown Prince Haakon looks outstanding in uniform. Mrs. Marcon, looks splendid, beautifully attired and very elegant. Queen Maxima looks fabulous in this Navy outfit, very appropriate for the occasion. I don't like the fabric of Mrs. Bidens outfit. Prince William stands out in the lineup. Lovely and tall, with beautiful posture. Queen Mathilde's outfit, is adding bulk that is not there.

  7. I think I have spotted the Governor General of Australia next to Prince William.
We too fought alongside the Allies in both WW 1 and WW 2.
    Lest we forget.

    1. I think King Charles has just appointed a new Governor General for Australia. She is Ms Samantha Mostyn. I think she will be sworn in on the first of July.
So the man next to Prince William is most probably the existing Governor General, David Hurley.
Both Australia and New Zealand played a mojor part in the two world wars. Known as the ANZAC's : Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
For those who never came home, may their souls rest in peace.

    2. Hi Deadeggs.
Thank you for acknowledging my country' s contribution to wars that were not on our shores so to speak.
I believe that Australia has always been a good world citizen.
Your knowledge of Australia impresses me.
Yes we are getting a new GG in July and she will be our second female one.
      Cheers Cate.

    3. Dear Cate. I have family who lived in Australia.
They oftened talked about all the young Australian men who went off to help the liberation and who never came back home.
And the many young children who became orphans.
Nothing seems to have been learnt.
Sadly, the wars are still going on.

I read on other websites that queen Mathilde's new coat is by Dior as well as her hat and handbag. From Dior I would have expected a better fit for the coat. It is too long and there is too much fabric in the skirt. In fact the whole coat is too big for her. On picture N°8 which shows her back, one can see it doesn't fit well. Her dress seems to be white but one cannot see much of it. I only like her hat (beautiful little hat seen from the back), handbag, shoes,.....
I wonder why King Philippe is wearing an overcoat ? Catched a little cold or something ? Many people are ill in Belgium because of the bad weather we had. But it is getting a bit warmer now and the sun shines.....we have hope.

Agree that the coat of QMathilde isn't a good fit (nor model for her imo); there's way too much fabric in this coat. Colourwise it's a good combination though and the small hat suits her..

QMaxima looks stylish, but appropriate as do Mrs Biden and Mrs Macron.

I think Mathildes coat is in the style of Dior from the fifties.
Really love it, especially the modesty of the colour and hat, so typically for beautifull Mathilde.
Máxima’s dark blue dress coat is good, but I think the hat is too jolly for this occasion.
Monsieur Macron has to learn to keep his hand out of his pocket, really not done at such an occasion.

Yes, but Mr. Macron, when compared to the other men attending this remembrance event, is a young boy (47 years old).
Maybe he’s still learning the ropes.
Hope he doesn’t use King Charles as an example.

IAM grateful for those who died on D Day, I have some freedom because of it. But I do not think very many of those young men willingly sacrificed their life. They were forced into a war that shouldn't have been. I haven't met too many people in my life that are willing to end theirs for any reason. And that's because people aren't stupid and sacrificing ANY LIFE is a sin in GOD'S EYES. ISAIAH 1:11-15

What I found very very sad that young boys of 16 years old took part in that war (on both sides). As a grand mother of a 15 year old boy you are thinking constantly about this.
What I found very moving was the song by Tom Jones. What a strong voice he still has at his age. I saw many old men in their wheel chair crying for their friends they lost in combat.

Yes Andrea you are right, but nevertheless Queen Mathilde has other coats by Dior which also have wide skirts but do fit better than this new one. The whole coat is too big not only the skirt.
And when I look at the photo's of my mother who was a young woman in the forties, her coats were rather short and not so wide, but she had to wear during five years the clothes she had already before the war because there was no money to buy new things. In the early fifties Dior created this type of wide coats, dresses, skirts....

The D Day Generation is dying out, will we all remember when everyone has gone home with a job well done. Thank you for your courage and sacrifice. Hope we will never forget. The Ladies looked great. This is not about the fashions and the ladies; it is about something much greater. God bless them all. css
