On June 7, 2024, Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, married Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral. About 400 guests, including Prince William, who served as an usher, and Princess Eugenie of York, attended the wedding ceremony.
The bride wore a wedding dress and veil by the London-based designer Emma Victoria Payne. She also wore the Faberge Myrtle Leaf Tiara, which was originally made for the Grosvenors in 1906 to be worn by the family’s brides on their wedding days.
Hugh Grosvenor is the third child and only son of Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster, and his wife Natalia. His baptism on 23 June 1991 was attended by the Prince of Wales (later King Charles), who became one of his godparents. The Duke of Westminster inherited his title when his father passed away in 2016. He is godfather to both Prince George and Prince Archie.
Paloma.
The radiant bride looks lovely in her conservatively modern dress.
ReplyDeleteEugenie on the other hand would have looked better in a more supportive bra.
A pity that Kate couldn't attend.
Without Kate the focus was on the bride
DeleteOof, this Kate! It is the wedding of Olivia, who certainly does not miss Kate. Irene
DeleteAgree, it's a pity she couldn't attend!
DeletePrincess Catherine is dearly missed by the whole world.
@Irene, the prince and princess of wales are very close friends with the duke of westminster and his family. And I'm sure they did miss Catherine not being there, as well as the duke's godson prince George.

What a cruel comment, Irene!

Darker than hell.
Speaks volumes about yourself as always.
Shame on you.
The bride looks stunning and both looking so happy. Eugenie sorry but totally wrong choice for her figure and the colour is very dull too
ReplyDeleteSuperbe mariée dans une robe aux lignes épurées.
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
An attractive couple. But then I've read that the bride is 31. I must say I think she looks oder.
ReplyDeleteI think it seems like that because her updo is too tight, less severe would look more youthful
DeleteQuel magnifique couple à qui on peut souhaiter une heureuse et longue vie !
ReplyDeleteI don’t think this was a good choice for Eugenie.Undergarments are needed and not to be visible. The pleats and drop waist is also unforgiving.
ReplyDeleteI do like the white black suit the lady standing beside her is wearing. Possibly Chanel?
The bride was challenged with the wind, and so we didn’t get to see the gown in its entirety. But she herself looked glowing and happy. Congratulations to them both!
Lowri.
The woman in the beautiful black and white suit caught my eye as well. Fabulous outfit!
DeleteIf I’m not mistaken that is Violet Henderson
DeleteLove the veil and back of the wedding gown but I think the bodice could have been more we'll fitted.
ReplyDelete...Marie
Agreed.
DeleteThe bride looks radiant and beautiful and I find her bridal shoes interesting and different. While the veil and the tiara are both stunning, I find the bride’s hair styling too severe for her frame.
ReplyDeleteI agree! MR
DeleteTotally Agree!!
DeleteBlue shoes with a white bride gown ? Never saw that and I don't like it. Such a mistake ruins the beautiful gown and veil. Lovely tiara.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comments on Princess Eugenie. She rarely gets it right.
I found the dark blue shoes very jarring as well. Wondered if they were a nod to “something blue”, but I think it’s more likely that they were meant to communicate some private sentimental message or even possibly a private joke. Not a good choice visually, however, imo. — Jane

It has been said that her designs are famously safe and whimsically English. Her work is elegantly low-key and never makes too much of a statement.

I like the colour of Eugenie’s dress it would make her eyes look lovely, but the style does not suit her. The top of this dress reminds me of the 2nd dress she wore for her wedding. It just looks like two orbs with bad support. She has a lovely shapely figure but needs a stylist to work with her to look her best.
ReplyDeleteThe lace on the wedding dress and veil is so pretty and feminine, the wind showed how floaty the fabric was.
Bridge is beatiful.Love the idea of brides blue shoes, that was something new to her conservative look.Eugenie needs some help to choose her clothing and underwear.
ReplyDeleteThere is an old English saying that says ........
Delete"Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe.”
Maybe she chose the Blue shoes to comply with "something blue"
Lovely bouquet the bride has, the dress not so much looks like night wear. Eugenie’s dress is nice, but she is to short and has to much hips for it.
ReplyDeleteHas the bride blue shoes?
ReplyDeleteYes, her shoes are known as Valentina 100 Riviera Blue Silk Velvet Block Heel Pumps' by Silvia Lago
DeleteEugenie has an hourglass figure, with full breasts and hips and a fitting waistline in between. I think there is nothing to hide or lift, this is a very feminine silhouette and I appreciate it. So I like this dress on her - minus the colour and the hemline. As for the bride, I would wish more visibility for the gown and much less for the veil.
ReplyDeleteShe may have wanted the veil to be seen more. The inspiration for the embroidery was taken from her great great grandmother's veil.
DeleteThe bride and groom look very happy together. The bride’s veil is beautiful. I think having a softer hairstyle in the front and perhaps different eye makeup would have made her look more youthful and been less severe, but her updo does look quite nice from the side with her face veil pulled back. Eugenie’s dress does not appear to be the most flattering style for her. The bridesmaids’ dresses are not very attractive to me, but perhaps they are typical for an aristocratic, English wedding.

I’m not a fan of the dark lipstick and blush either. Make up colors aged her as well as the severe hair do. MR
DeleteDie Braut trug blaue Samtschuhe - sieht man hier auf den Fotos leider nicht. Für meinen Geschmack ist der Brautstrauß zu groß und ich war überrascht als ich laß, dass sie erst 31 ist.
ReplyDeleteThe bridemaid's shoes are very clunky and black was not a good colour choice to go with their dresses.
ReplyDeleteI think Eugenie looks great in her dress. Personally, I wouldn’t wear it but she looks surprisingly attractive.
ReplyDeleteI agree 💯 I think she looks lovely; she’s not there to upstage the bride
DeleteI guess I’m in the minority here but I like Eugenie’s dress—the lush color and soft fabric that unabashedly follows every curve has a lush summer appeal to me. The bride’s tiara is a so beautiful and meaningful to the family that perhaps she minimized attention to her hair by practically making it disappear to focus on the tiara. It was a bit of a harsh note to an otherwise soft ensemble. No objection to the idea of “something blue” shoes but these were an ugly design. Bouquet is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I love Eugenie’s dress
DeleteWhat lovely couple. Like the gown and Tiara. Only two Royals there William and Eugenie. Beatrice was not invited. Eugenie's dress was very nice, but I feel it would look better on a taller person like Catherine. I do must say the duke looks so very young, if he would go to a Bar he would be carded every time. I wish them the best for their future. css
ReplyDeleteThese people are NOT royals. And, the blue shoes are horrible, and the dress is not 'all that'. Just another paid society wedding being pushed, as well as non-royals, or used to be but 'quit' royals. Abbie
ReplyDeleteWhat??
DeleteWow! Feel better after that tantrum?
DeleteRoyals who stop being working royals remain royal. There is no "used-to-be" about it. This blog covers plenty of non-working royals. Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, for instance.
DeleteDear Abbie. Why do you visit this site?
DeleteIt seems to get you all worked up and stressed.
Really,? Pff
DeleteSeriously, Miss Abbie? The Duke of Westminster is Godfather to Prince George (of Wales), the Prince of Wales was present at the wedding, as was Princess Eugenie of York. When the previous Duke of Westminster got married in 1978, even Queen Elizabeth II attended the wedding. The Westminsters are very close to the BRF, and why on earth should a beautifulf wedding like this one not be covered on this blog? This blog is not exclusively featuring "working royals". I don't understand your comment at all.
DeleteThe bridal gown, is subtle but elegant, the lace features adding interest, very pretty. The tiara looks lovely. I don't like her hair styled in this way, too harsh. Her makeup also on the day appeared harsh, I saw a closeup photo of her somewhere. Her blue shoes, something blue, nice! Eugenie's dress I don't like at all. The color is nice, but that's about it. The brides father looked lovely in his tux, a very handsome man.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning these royal & aristocratic brides always get it right. Classical & elegant. Love the dress. Olivia just shines & the groom is handsome. Mary
ReplyDeleteO please, they don’t always get it right, they just pay more money for it.
DeleteThe bride is lovely, but hairstyle too severe. Maybe the makeup is all wrong, but she looks much older than 31.(I don't know much about makeup. so probably shouldn't comment.). A bridal gown is the most important gown a woman will wear, so I don't think it calls for "whimsy." Blue shoes ruined it for me. She demoted the gown to something "costumy" and "fun." Also, she could have used a less severe look for her gown, something a little more light, flowy with more volume. Her overall look added years to her, I think. But apparently Olivia likes a minimalist style, but I don't think it suits her body type. However, the veil and tiara were beautiful. But she still looked beautiful and happy and her new husband looked happy too. So that's all that matters and I wish them a happy life together. Oh, I almost forgot about Eugenie. She is a pretty girl and should highlight her best features which are her face and beautiful smile and complexion. The top of the dress was unfortunate. I will leave it at that. - Joann
ReplyDeleteThe blue shoes ruins it all, looks as the bride forget to change from the slippers! Lovely couple!
ReplyDeleteI suppose that was the "something blue" part of her wedding outfit.
Delete- Anon 9:13
I think Hugh’s mother looked lovely it must have been a day of mixed emotions for her; actually I loved the colours of the dresses of Hugh’s sisters.
ReplyDeleteThe bride looked okay, the hairstyle didn’t look quite right, the dress and veil were okay.
Actually all the young ladies who attended looked good with their variety of styles and colours.
The brides mother looked interesting ,I’m not sure what to say about the colour and style of her dress.William was trying to be low key so not to draw too much attention to him on the day,he looked good Actually it was interesting to see the
Strabenzeens,I think the wife of one of them worked at the school that Charlotte went to her husband was once married to the daughter of the Duke of Northumberland.(Tara)
Blue shoes are too heavy for this pretty wedding dress but if it were very light blue color and more "delicate" maybe it wouldn't look that bad.
ReplyDeleteAva
Agree !!
DeleteIndeed. Something blue, but not so heavy and wintry looking. A nice light blue pointy sling back would have been perfect imo.

During the wedding ceremony, I wonder if they kept in the part where the couple have to say “for richer or for poorer” or, was it in this case, left out.
ReplyDeleteNot really necessary when you have the chance to marry a Duke who's the richest man under 40 yrs of age in England, “poorer” would never present a risk. 😀
Some authorities estimate his fortune at about £12 billion pounds sterling.
On n’a beaucoup dit sur la mariée,… moi je rajouterai que le père de la mariée est très bel homme
ReplyDeleteThe entire bridal party was a miss-mash of style (boring), the blue shoes, terrible, and why are they on this blog, other than he has a title of some sort? They are not royal. They are simply overly wealthy.
ReplyDeleteEdwina
Hello, @Anonymous today at 15:51
DeleteYes, I think that being ' simply overly wealthy' has always caused you great distress , no matter what nickname you elect as your signature.
You see, this is all what this site is about, after all, namely a collection of
rich , posh and tremendously soaked in luxury lot of humans.
You won't find destituted people over here .
I can assure you that I am a very empathetic woman ,especially towards people in need but I do not expect to find them on a royal blog.
Then, you may want to clarify what being non royals exactly means to you.
Please, check your sources.
As @Deadeggs said above, you seem to get worked out and stressed when commenting on wealthy royals or people connected to royal circles.
You should consider focusing on other topics which make you feel more confident and relaxed or you can just relate to more easily.
You always end up embarassing yourself with your clumsy commentaries particularly on 100% royal ladies or aristocratic ones gravitating towards royalty.
Bye.
Dear Edwina, Believe me, most of the land-owning aristocrats and non-aristocrats you would label as

You are getting more and more confused...
Are you ok?
I did once read this site. Then I got tired of all the quarrel here and left. After some years away I came this spring to have a new look if you have calmed down. No, all kinds of quarrels continued. It's not nice. So it is goodbye again.

You aren’t in an airport, no need to announce your departure.
DeleteI don't think the sever hairstyle is the best choice for her. I think something a little softer would have better complemented her head shape but I can understand how on your wedding day, you want every hair in place and a neat and tidy hairstyle - especially when wearing a tiara and a very long veil. Best to keep the hairstyle simple.
ReplyDeleteThe dress is lovely and dignified - very appropriate for the venue of a cathedral. She looks lovely and her groom is very handsome. I hope the day was everything they hoped and planned for and they have a very long and happy life together. Congrats.
