On June 6, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh attended the UK National Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum in Stafford, as part of the events to mark the 80th anniversary commemorations of Allied amphibious landing (D-Day Landings) in France in 1944. The Duke and Duchess met D-Day and Normandy veterans ahead of the Royal British Legion's service of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum.
La duchesse Sophie sait toujours faire preuve d'empathie ; j'adore la dernère photo où nous la voyons en train de converser avec un vétéran coiffé d'un bonnet aux couleurs très vives !
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteWow, Prince Edward is a very well- dressed man!
ReplyDeleteVery good double breasted suit!
Sophie looks lovely in this short jacket on her green dress.
I know it's supposed to be about the fashion but I really love the last photo. She looks really engaged with the person she's talking with. Like old friends getting caught up.
ReplyDeleteLike Sophie's shoes and outfit but the jacket is too tight.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The skirt is lovely, and although long, it looks okay within these shoes. The jacket would be perfect if it was a size bigger. Like her hair and earrings.
DeleteSophie looks great in the green and white.
ReplyDeleteThe National Memorial Arboretum is not in Stafford. It's in Alrewas...which is in Staffordshire. The County Town of Stafford is nowhere near...but on the other side of the County.
ReplyDeleteI think Sophie could have done much better, and much more easily with clothing already in her wardrobe. The jacket is ill-fitting and too tight. I'm not fond of her green printed dress either. We know she has other dresses that would have looked much better for a remembrance service like this, which she could have worn without a jacket, or else a very light one.
ReplyDeleteHowever I give her top marks for her humanitarianism with our beloved veterans.

Beautiful jacket, but she needs to go up one size for it to fit properly and not pull. Maybe it would also have helped not to button the jacket and let it hang loose.
ReplyDeletePrince Edward looks really well groomed and attired. I like the Duchess's jacket. The last photo is a real gem!
ReplyDeleteD. Sophie's jacket is a little snug. Maybe a size bigger next time. P. Edward's suit is perfect.
ReplyDeleteShe always make the person she is speaking with so special, you have only got to look at the old soldiers faces. A memory they will hold very special. The jacket is lovely on her with the flailed skirt.
ReplyDeleteThe jacket is too tight and a bit too short to wear with a long skirt. I don't like her outdated shoes. A darker pair like green, black or navy would have been much better.
ReplyDeleteAs always Sophie's warmth and sincere interest are shining through--and we know she loves military history so this event must be so special for her. She looks lovely but I wish she had left the jacket open as it is pulling at the second button. I love her green floral dress--saw the dress on another site--and it would have looked great with an open jacket. I love her shoes--very summery style. Prince Edward looks fabulous here. He is getting more and more like his late father--dapper and debonaire. The Edinburghs are very much essential representatives for the BRF and the UK.

Nice dress, I would have liked it better with an open jacket. css
ReplyDeleteEdward, handsome, smartly dressed. Sophie, lovely outfit.
