I really like this dress but something is off here with the belt that Sophie has added. It makes the waistline bunch oddly under her bust. I also think her choice of espadrilles with fussy ties misses the mark--wish she had worn the wedge shoes she wore to the South of England event--they would have looked better. As always Sophie is lovely and gracious.

Very nice look for today and color. css

  3. The dress is pretty and feminine. Something is not quite right with the overall look. The belt and the ruffles at the waistline, I think. Adding bulk, when there is none. I think its Mary Berry, the lady in the light green floral dress and bright pink silk fabric around her waist looks fabulous.

Love this dress, she looks fabulous in it and it seems to be perfect for this event. Her hair is done very chic, suits her! Sophie is such a classic beauty in herself! Ac

Her hair very chic ? You mean house made chic ? She is much more elegant and beautiful with her hair loose.

HAWFUL DRESS. She looks 10 years older. Lorraine (Rose). However, I admire her devotion to the Crown and especially to King Charles lll's.

Lorraine (Rose): correction: please read: awful dress.

Yes it is an awful dress. Too long as usual, too much little flowers which is completely outdated. The wide brown belt does not match the dress. Duchess Sophie wears her hair too often like this. She is much more attractive with her hair loose after a simple brushing.

The Duchess looks lovely again with her hair in an updo. The dress ‘has potential’ but the length the added belt and the wedges all detract from it

Green is a good color on Sophie, but the wide brown belt does not look good with this dress, and her shoes look rather clunky. The lady with the white hair who is wearing a green dress with a pink sash looks very good.

    1. Another commenter suggested that was Mary Berry, formerly of the Great British Bake-Off, and I think they were correct. She does look good.

I like Sophie's look, too. It's not quite perfect from every angle, but she looks better than the model, and perfection is unattainable anyway.

Yes that's Mary Berry, acclaimed British TV presenter, cook and cookbook writer for decades (and a multi-millionaire), who rose to popular fame as one of the judges of The Great British Bake Off for several seasons. She's 89yo...and looks amazing.

Why do these youthful royal ladies wear these overly long drippy dresses that make them look 15 years older?

I absolutely disagree with you. Sophie is 60 years old in a few months and looks at least 10 years younger - like a charming young woman in her fresh fifties. (According to your calculations - she should look 15 years older =75 years, which is nonsense.)
Summer dresses are simply very often long.Sure they are made of a pleasant falling cooling material. Espadrilles are ideal for them. I have a similar dress myself, I enjoy that I don't have to wear tights with it and I love how the breeze gently plays with the light material of the dress and I feel free and easy.
The only thing I would change is the color of the belt - I would recommend a light one, something in the tone of the sandals/espadrilles.

I agree, they look so matronly.

    3. Could it not be British fashion?
Not the same in all countries, but it appears to be the style with the British ladies.
As I've mentioned several times before, I think it's related to their climate.

I agree too. British ladies often look matronly. One can see it the best when they are photographed next to other European women. They all look younger than the British.

I think Duchess Sophie looks lovely. She is almost 60 yrs old, a mother of two children + has always worked hard prior to becoming the wife of Prince Edward + certainly ever since. She doesn't try to look as though she is still 40. She wears clothes suitable to the occassion + to what or whom she is representing. The tall lady in the white + blue dress is apx 40 yrs old, yet that is a dress that is for an older person. If you compare the two prints + designs, plus that fact that Sophie is 20 yrs older to that woman, Sophie wins the fashion title there. My only criticism of the style of dress, is that it is the style that always seems to make women's breasts look like they're droopy, like what we call "Nana Boobs". The main thing is, Sophie + Edward are continuing to represent the Royal Family, the late Queen + now our King, with utmost respect. I admire that they're still very much in love too. It’s a question many have asked. Why swallow a trim figure in a huge shapeless dress? It continues to be a mystery (not just in Britain)….

Sur la 3e photo je n'aime aucune des 5 robes présentées.
C'est l'homme en belle veste bleue et cravate rose qui est le plus élégant !

I agree about these long dresses, seems to be what they're all wearing now, but they look so matronly. No need to wear a mini skirt, but why something as long as your nightgown?

Sophie, a rare miss-step. Odd bag, shoes, and the dress are not a good look. Smile is lovely.

Very pretty dress on Sophie. I do wish she had worn the camel colored shoes from her previous engagement. They would have looked great with this belt, but still she looks good!

She first should start cutting all her dresses to around knee length. The colour of this dress looks good on her.

    1. Sorry disagree. Most of her dresses are not meant to be "cut around knee length". IMO.
She is enjoying British fashion seen in both summer and winter.

Well good for her if she enjoys British fashion. If you see them next to European royals they all look matronly with their long dresses and skirt. At least most European women (commoners + royals + high society) they all look much more elegant and it has nothing to do with the climate. This Spring we all (except for Scandinavia) have been confronted with a cold, rainy and windy Spring.
