On June 18, 2024, King Charles, Queen Camilla, the Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Anne, Princess Eugenie, Lady Gabriella Kingston, Zara, and Mike Tindall attended the first day of Royal Ascot 2024 held at Ascot Racecourse in Ascot, Berkshire. Prince Philippos and Princess Nina of Greece also attended the first day at Royal Ascot. The event was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and has since become as much a social occasion as a sporting event.
They all look lovely. I love the colours and I love the simplicity of the dresses. I also like the variety of hats, especially P.Anne's blue hat, and the one with a tassle - something different and unusual for a change. But best of all was seeing Lady Gabriella present. She rode with P.Anne in the landau (video), and seeing her disembark and be warmly and lovingly hugged by so many people was very touching. God bless her.

Agree !!
DeleteWhere to start? Firstly, the thoughtfulness of the King in inviting Lady Gabriella to join the carriage procession. What a genuinely kind thing to do. Lady Gabriella’s outfit is possibly my favourite of the day, closely followed by Zara Tindall. Queen Camilla’s outfit is a glorious colour and the hat is gorgeous but it doesn’t seem summery enough. And, oh dear, Princess Anne! I think she’s great, but this bizarre mismatch of red coat, turquoise hat and blue gloves, really dis not her best look!

AnnieM - Well said and completely agree!
DeleteI remember reading a while back when somebody said that Princess Anne needs to change the lightbulb in her dressing room.
DeleteLooks like the technician hasn’t done the job yet 😀
Lady Gabriella indeed my favorite. So glad seeing her up and about after losing her husband so very tragically.Queen, Zara very elegant. And today I think even Eugenie did her best
DeleteWonderful to see Gabriella. Hopefully she has recovered from her tragic loss. She looks ousted and elegant as always.
DeleteI am likely in minority, but I don’t like Zara’s outfit. Looks tacky to me. I do like her hairdo though.
Anne must have found an unused drapery in the linen closet and decided to get more from the swath of fabric. And went to clothing / hat exchange with other royals and picked whatever no one wanted from the hat selection (can’t think of any other explanation, even if it’s abundantly clear she is a staunch recycler).
Camilla is her usual self. Seems she learned something from the Queen, she’s got now a uniform of sorts. Amongst other variations of her uniform theme, this is not the worst one. At least she didn’t wear the boots.
Eugenia’s dress isn’t the right cut for her body type. Not is the Greek princess’ for hers (although that is a really pretty outfit).
There were some other remarkable Day 1 outfits (and I am not talking about tacky stuff), the usual truly elegant and stylish ladies (including the main TV presenters who seem to always get it right!).

Okay, that give me a much needed good chuckle. Thank you. :D
Gabriella Kingston var best dressed!
ReplyDeleteThe Duchess of Gloucester looks so elegant. Lady Gabriella also looks lovely; I like the feminine ties on the backs of her sleeves especially.

I like all of the dresses but Lady Gabriella would have to be my favourite. The men look dapper(Tara)
ReplyDeleteI am enchanted by how lovely Zara looks.
ReplyDeleteAnne on the other hand leaves me puzzled. The coat, the gloves, the hat - all lovely by themselves - make no sense together whatsoever.
Camilla is nice in blue, but her shoulders are weirdly high. Could have done without the pads.

ReplyDeleteLovely elegantly dressed ladies: the Queen: beautiful strong colour, suits her well; the duchess of Gloucester: beautifull!; princess Anne: I love this coat: she becomes more and more à beautifull elderly lady; Lady Gabriela: lovely summer dress and light coloured hat which matches so good with her blond hair and pale complexion.
All the royal ladies look lovely but for me first place is a tie between Zara and Gabriella.
ReplyDeleteSo good to see Gabriella out in public following on from her tragic loss earlier in the year.
Hope to see Sophie make an appearance in the next couple of days.
They all look lovely, each with their own signature style. And I love seeing all the hats. I'm so happy to see L. Gabriella out enjoying herself.
ReplyDeleteComme d'habitude et peu importe les occasions, la duchesse d Gloucester est élégante ; elle a su apporter une touche légèrement rétro avec son chapeau et ses bijoux !
ReplyDeleteLady Gabriella is the best dressed. The other ladies are not looking good and Princess Anne got the first prize for the worst outfit. What an idea ? Combining a mint green hat with a red coat and thick navy winter gloves. If she absolutely must wear gloves, there are lovely Summer gloves in a lighter fabric or thin leather. I wonder if the royals realize that they are looking more and more like museum pieces.
Paloma.
Zara and Lady Gabriella won the day.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to see Lady Gabriella.
QC seemed more dressed for Winter.
PE Terrible choice. The dress required proper under garments, preferably not visible under the dress.
DoG Similarly to QC this looked more of a Winter choice.
Lowri.
Many younger women need to learn about slips/petticoats.
DeletePhoto N°5 and photo N°8 : Philippos and the princess Nina of Grèce.
ReplyDeleteWonder what they are doing there.
Maybe they are living in London.
Many, if not most of the Greek royal family live in London, and even for those that don't, all of them are very close to the BRF. No surprise at all seeing them at BRF events such as this one.
Delete- Anon 9:13
Yes Anon 9:13 I remmember now they lived in Hampstead Garden Suburb in London for many years.
DeleteI think only a few of their children speak Greek.
But then, that's another story for another day.
Gabby looked so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe upper part of Q. Camilla's hat is too high.
ReplyDeletePrincess Eugenie's mint dress is less beautiful than the one she wore on a dinner party for FTA yesterday evening.
ReplyDeleteDon't know where to start. Everyone from the BRF looks great. So nice to see Lady Kingston there as well. Don;t knows what to say about Pss Nina of Greece, her dress is nothing to wow about l the color is nice what about the tassel hanging from the hat? Well, the taste is different from everyone. Let it end there. css
ReplyDeleteThe men look handsome and the women look gorgeous as they do at Royal Ascot. The horses still steal the show because they are the BEST.
ReplyDeleteZara's outfit is my favorite of the day. Lady Gabriella looks beautiful, gorgeous dress and hat suits her well. Lovely to see her out and about, I hope she is doing well. The Duchess of Gloucester's blue coat dress looks fabulous. Love the pearl necklace and pendant, beautiful addition. I like the color of Eugenie's dress, but not the style, I don't feel it suits her at all.
ReplyDeleteQueen Camilla looks wonderful this time, I think the colour and length are perfect, wheras the dress of the Duchess of Gloucester is too long and gives it a dowdy
ReplyDeleteappearance.
🌞 Virginia
Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Anne splendid outfits.
ReplyDeleteEugenie missed the mark again with odd 2-piece hair accessory, and frumpy dress.
Lady Gabriella Kingston and Zara were simply beautiful with their summer frocks.
Cam, same old style, different day, different colour.
