On Friday 31 May, the delivery ceremony of the royal orders for Swedish citizens was held at the Royal Palace. King Carl XVI Gustaf presented the royal orders to 13 exceptional Swedes. Queen Silvia was also present at the ceremony. The state ceremony took place in the Vita Havet Assembly Room at the Royal Palace. Among the guests were the recipients and their invited guests, as well as representatives from official Sweden.

The first time the royal orders of knighthood were handed out was 1974. Between 1974 and 2023, royal orders were restricted to foreigners only. On 21 March 2024, the order was awarded for the first time since 1974 to, among others, the members of the music band ABBA for their outstanding contributions to Swedish and music life.

  1. This is a beautiful dress, Lilac in color, I think. The dress fits well, I like the pattern and fabric of the dress. The pearl necklace and earrings look lovely. The brooch is a splendid addition. A very elegant look.

  2. La reine porte une robe d'un très joli mauve ; j'aime beaucoup ses cheveux légèrement raccourcis !

  3. I'm showing my age but I was a huge ABBA fan.
    A well deserved award.
I wonder why Frida is wearing sunglasses and using a walking stick.

Massive ABBA fan here as well, and I'm so pleased to see them. I follow Bjorn, Agnetha and Benny, but like you, I'm a little surprised and saddened to see Frida. The last article I read about her - and seemingly quite recently (2 years ago, perhaps) - she seemed fine. I suppose that age and health issues catche up to everyone.

    2. Frida had hip surgery a few years ago and she has been using a stick ever since.
Is she really wearing sunglasses? To me they look normal glasses with thick frames.

Another ABBA fan here. Great to see them recognised for their phenomenal contribution to music. The Queen’s dress is lovely in both colour and shape.

I don´t like the shiny fabric of this dress and it is perhaps a bit too tightColour and jewellery is nice.
