On June 20, Queen Maxima visited the Engineer Regiment of the Dutch Army in Den Bosch. The engineer regiment is a combat support unit trained in clearing obstacles and building military infrastructure, such as bridges and ferries. At the start of the visit, Queen Maxima received a brief explanation of the engineers' work. Following this, she participated in an area exploration exercise necessary to clear the area of obstacles.
She looks great…love this woman!
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly! :)
DeleteThere is no stopping this remarkable woman. We know - and she knows - that she's not a soldier nor will ever be one, but the fact that she gets herself involved hands-on with her countrymen and women who put their lives at risk when called upon, and partakes in such activities that few Queens would consider doing is to be applauded and respected. Max is truly one of a kind - in all respects.

we have seen similar 'True of a kind' women in military uniform;
DeleteCatherine, princess of Wales
princess Victoria
Queen Mary
She probably wanted to go through this additional life experience, seeing the young princesses do it ... As Rossella says here below, might be a good idea for crown princess Amalia... just thinking of the involvement of Elisabeth, Leonor and Ingrid Alexandra. They look credible, don't wear the Rolex ... But a generation's time between them.
DeleteTanto sa che non sarà mai chiamata alle armi.
DeleteRossella 🖤
@anon 11:39 Wearing the uniform is one thing. Being actively involved in the military exercises is another. I have not seen the people you mention be involved like this and do this kind of stuff.

DeleteI think the only one that got real military training is CP Victoria. First when she was a young princess at an age that civilians do their military service. Later on she went back on a regular basis to continue to learn and handle new things. She is also the only one of the 3 Princess/Queen who will be the highest commander of the Swedish Army. The 2 other are or will be the wives of the King.
DeleteLoM
Beter kijken LoM : zeer zwart aangezette ogen, horloge, armband, en, inderdaad rood gelakte nagels.
DeleteThis is fabulous! I love the fact the Queen is participating and in boots and all! She looks to be enjoying herself. Her outfit looks great and she looks the part. Well done Ma'am, well done.
ReplyDeleteI can understand being interested and wanting to know about their work, but why participate. Soldiers have been trained, I don’t think it is something you can just take up for a day.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
DeleteUseless visit, show your commitment on a different way please without demanding their attention and time.
better to experience something than be told about it.
Delete@ Anon. 11:35
DeleteI agree.
@ Anon. 11:16
I think the visit is not useless. She can show the support of the Royal House for the work of the Engineer Regiment. It is not you or me who decides how the soldiers have to spend their time and attention. Usually a soldier has to follow the orders of his superiors.
The reason why CP Amalia don't have to go to the Royal Military Academy is because her father is not the highest in rang of the Dutch Army. In The Netherlands the Defense Forces are completely separated from the Dutch government.
In Belgium (CP Elisabeth), in Spain (CP Leonor) and in Norway (CP Ingrid Alexandra) will all be the highest commanders of the Defense Forces of their country when they will be Queen one day. This is not the case in The Netherlands.

DeleteThe soldiers/officers do not seem to be bothered by the visit of Queen Maxima. They were having a little chat and everybody was smiling.
Anon 5:50 here. I didn’t say it was useless. I just don’t think it’s very respectful to the soldiers.
ReplyDeleteOn a Dutch website they show pictures where Queen Maxima is attaching the parts together to make a bridge. The text said that she received an explanation by an officer on how she should do it and afterwards she did it on her own.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone can make camouflage look glamorous, it's Maxima! She looks awesome!
ReplyDeleteMilitary Max, another page in her robust resume. 👍 dlh
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely woman, Dutch can be proud of her
ReplyDeleteI did not know; Maxima has Military training like some of the other Royals. She looks good in uniform. css
ReplyDelete@css
DeleteThis is not military training. It is just a visit to support the Engineer's regiment where of course she has been given demonstrations and participated in their every day work.
I am sure at a younger age, Queen Maxima would have been very capable to follow real military training.
She's just adorable. Allison.
ReplyDeleteOh dear me, what a messy hair day. Low bun would have made her look more professional.
ReplyDeleteEdwina
You never got tired to repeat always the same ? She is not in the army like the young European princesses. She is visiting, they gave her an helmet for security reasons. When putting an helmet on and off, bun or no bun you hair will no stay in place.
DeleteTotally agree with Edwina. This woman appears smiley, nice, yet misses the mark in keeping her hair appropriate for each occasion. She has the wealth, the resources, it shows lack of respect for the position she married into to go out with her hair a mess on so many occasions.
DeletePS: Given a helmet for security reasons? lol.
Will she enter a hospital next and say let’s do surgery together
