On June 12, 2024, Queen Mathilde attended the closing concert of the international Queen Elisabeth Competition 2024 for Violin at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels. The closing concert was given by the first 3 winners, accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège conducted by Nuno Coelho. This year's competition was won by Ukrainian violinist Dmytro Udovychenko, who triumphed over 11 other finalists.
Lovely and elegant as always!
ReplyDeleteHuge skirts seem to be a thing this summer - it’s pretty and I love the color of this one and the shoes are perfect as is the top! Smashing! Ac
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely
DeleteAnd it's Natan!!! Who is not loved by many in this blog

DeleteQueen Mathilde's skirt is a repeated one. The white blouse too, of which she could have more than one. After all the new clothes she wore for the music competition, she picked out this older combination to attend the last concert. Maybe she got inspired by CP Victoria who also wore one of her older balloon skirts lately. This is the type of skirt Queen Mathilde should avoid.
This is a pretty skirt, and in fact the whole outfit is nice (I love the colours), but I don't think it's right for Mathilde, lovely lady as she is. The broad pleats and stiff fabric don't work with a high-waisted figure, which minimizes her torso. The last photo looks the best of the three.

DeleteI agree and the blouse should not be so tight. You need to leave a little room just above the waistband.
Queen Mathilde looks beautiful here. I love her outfit but do have 2 quibbles: the fabric of the skirt is beautiful but a bit too stiff so it adds unnecessary bulk and I wish she had chosen a thin belt as that would be more flattering.

She looks beautiful indeed. I don't mind the fabric, but I agree a thinner belt or no belt at all would have been even better. But it's a beautiful outfit anyway.

Love this skirt, so refreshingly different. Suits her well because she is tall and has beautiful slim legs.

ReplyDeleteAgree.
DeleteOh no her skirt is like she’s wearing a balloon 😳
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde looked the epitome of elegance
ReplyDeleteHow many Violin Final Coemptions! this is like the 5th time
ReplyDeleteMay it be the 10th, as long as we can enjoy the outfits every event brings 😊
DeleteThe skirt color and fabric are gorgeous but it is eating her alive. If it didn’t have do much volume, it would look good on her.
ReplyDeleteI love Queen Mathilde's whole look. The soft colors complement her and make her look elegant!
ReplyDeleteI love the detail and structure of the this skirt. Very nice color as well.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful summery colours, but the skirt is too bulky imo
ReplyDeleteAnonyme 19 : 14. La chemise blanche peut faire estivale, mais pas les manches longues. Et à mon avis la jupe en tissu satiné gris avec des petites "étoiles" argentées ce n'est pas du tout estival mais au contraire très-très hivernal ! Paloma.
DeleteWith all the full skirts we are seeing worn by the royal ladies at the moment, I’m wondering if we (or designers) are nostalgically trying to go back to the early 19th century fashion of the crinoline.
ReplyDeleteIt did have a brief revival with Queen Elizabeth and the Queen mum using a toned down style for evening dresses.

I want to like this outfit - the colors are beautiful - but the fabric of the skirt looks rather stiff and overly bulky.

La reine Mathilde est élégante pour cette période estivale mais une ceinture moins large conviendrait mieux pour équilibrer son look car elle a une grande taille !
ReplyDeleteNice look and combination. The material of the skirt seems to be very stiff. css
ReplyDeleteIt's an absolutely gorgeous skirt but the belt and blouse work against it. It's not a terribly flattering look on Q Mathilde. She often seems so close to getting a look right and then flattens it like a pancake with something like that blouse ( which would be delightful with a different skirt or pants)
ReplyDeleteI fully agree with your comment. In this case I believe a different blouse on this skirt would have made a huge difference for the overall look
Delete'... flattens it like a pancake'. Hilarious Beth!!! I know it's off-topic but I love this saying. I'm quite fluent in English but have never heard this one before. I hope you don't mind me borrowing it!! 🤩
DeleteI agree. A very unfortunate top. Love the skirt.
DeleteThe deep pleats of the skirt and stiffness of the fabric is not flattering, for the overall look. The skirt doesn't fall well or move well, it's so stiff, and is creating alo't of bulk. The skirt is pretty, I realize the huge skirts are fashionable right now, but I don't like this look at all. The blouse is pretty and I love her color of her accessories.
ReplyDeleteThe Queen is so beautiful, but this skirt is far too big for her and the pretty blouse too tight.
