King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are making a working visit to the United States. The King and Queen began their visit to New York City with a walk through the neighborhood of East Flatbush, where community empowerment is a key priority. There they met with various residents and local organizations to discuss urban challenges such as affordable housing. The King and Queen then visited Newlab in Brooklyn Navy Yards. The working visit concluded with a reception at the Spiral building in the Hudson Yards.

  1. It took a few moments to sort this look out. The dress without the sheer overlay would be quite nice. The hair, makeup and accessories are good.

The sheer overlay takes the outfit into 1990's aunt of the groom territory. To get to mother of the groom the hat would need to be upsized.

Remove the overlay and this is a solid 8/10 look. If the overlay has to stay, I'd suggest hemming it to line up with the skirt.

It would be nice if someone taught Queen Maxima the Duchess sit so she'd look less awkward.

The King and Queen are an attractive, smart and engaged couple who seem to really make people they meet feel noticed. A creditors their nation.

I’m with the second option, keep the overlay ( I think it makes the dress more unusual than a simple sleeveless shift) but make it the same length/fit as the main dress.

Do you notice in the floral pattern on the dress there is green;hence the green hat.I like the dress it is a bit different;the clutch bag is also green;she looks like midtown Manhattan, old Hollywood (Tara)

There is green in her dress. I always like pulling out a color in the print to accessorize. It shows far more thought than went into her outfit than going with the obvious and more boring blue.

Not quite the right choice for the occasion. Definitely mother of the bride looking.

  4. The actual dress is very pretty and feminine. I am not real keen on the sheer overlay, but the hemline of her skirt is a problem. Regardless she looks beautiful. Not so sure of the reason for the green of her hat?

I like the transparent light blue fabric of Queen Maxima's dress but not the way it has been used to make the dress. I wonder why wearing dark green accessories with a light blue dress ? I thought the uneven hemline was not fashion anymore.

Ask the yellow dressed women ( the flower-one) her shopping-dress.
    Less fuss and more deliciousness!

I am sorry but I think the transparent skirt is unnecessary and a bit ridiculous.
Underneath is a normal good dress, nothing special, but something special is not always needed:: good is good enough.
The green “ hat”: same, not necessary and not adding anything.

  11. Oh, they visited a barber shop. Isn't it a pity that W.-A. missed out on getting a nice haircut, beard trim and a facial with one of these hot cloths and get moisturized for once when he had the chance 🤷‍♀️

After some consideration I think I like this dress, as it's different; colours and pattern are beautiful. I feel it's good QM choose to wear dark blue shoes instead of green coloured ones as now it causes 'a smooth transition' from skirt to shoes. Glad to see QM doesn't wear a necklace, as the flowers are enough decoration in the total picture

I love this dress in every way, but it's totally the wrong dress for this working visit to an obviously poor neighbourhood

  14. I dont love this look, i appreciate that she mixes colors in an unusual way, green and light blue, but to my the sheer is too long, and that ruins the look.
And indeed she's never mastered the art of sitting. Oh well, you can not excel in everything

I really like Queen Maxima's dress! The overlay is beautiful and adds a lovely sort of summery elegance to the sheath underneath--however, I would like to shorten the length of the overlay as I think its too long for the sheath underneath. I also love how she used green accessories to pull out the green in the overlay rather than go with blue or nude/cream/beige would might be more typical. I think Maxima looks beautiful in this outfit. One thing--I'd really like to see her learn to sit more formally when she's wearing a dress--call me old fashioned but I wish she would sit with her legs together, knees touching or legs at a slant. I feel like her wardrobe for this tour has been exceptional--beautiful, sophisticated, and so very elegant.
