On June 20, King Frederik of Denmark, Princess Josephine, and the Prince of Wales attended the UEFA Euro 2024 Group C football match between Denmark and England at the Frankfurt Arena in Frankfurt. The Prince of Wales chatted with King Frederik and Princess Josephine before the match. Following the match, which ended in a tie, the Danish Royal House posted a photo of King Frederik and his daughter Princess Josephine at the game.

DeleteI was thinking the opposite. William looks uptight and needs to remove his tie. FredX looks relaxed, happy and approachable. It's a sporting event not a business meeting.

DeleteI love these photos. This is a grouping of royals we rarely see together, and they're all smiling and having fun. I saw video clips yesterday and those are also very nice to watch. Josephine is growing up to be a very attractive young lady. She has beautiful hair.

DeleteYes grouping of royals we rarely see together. When the Danish royal family are organizing a gala for the 18th birthday of the CP Christian none of the British royals where present. The same thing happened when CP Ingrid Alexandra had her 18th birthday gala. The other royal houses were present. I am sure the British royals got an invitation too.
Josephine's hair looks nice, however seems to be dyed. I think dying can be postponed for a while ; it is not good for hair.
Delete@Anon 07:46 If I remember correctly, for both the birthday celebrations you mention, the guest lists were intentionally limited to only the Scandinavian royal houses (all considered family) and no outside royal houses other than possibly if they were god-parents of the birthday kids. Not an uncommon occurrence of the region.

DeleteBelgium was there, The Netherlands were there, King Felipe was in Denmark without Letizia, GD Luxemburg was in Denmark, Sweden was there, the Greek royals were there. I know some of them are family but not all. And I heard that the British royals received invitations as well but for some vague reason nobody could come. The Danish royal family is related to the British through Queen Alexandra.
Fredrick's inner child comes out when he's with Josephine, his boyish behaviour was somewhat ok for a young prince but not 50 year old + king

DeleteI agree. Besides watching a football match does not require a suit and a tie. These pictures show the difference between the European royal houses and the British. I love King F and his daughter are so spontaneous. A modern father and a modern daughter having fun together.

DeleteJust a small clarification to your comment about formal wear at this event. William, Prince of Wales is the President of the FA and dresses formally when representing the association. The tie he is wearing is the FA tie, which explains why he is dressed the way he is. However when he lets his true 'Swiftie' out for a night on the town with his 9yo and 10y kids, he can be quite informal, lol :))
(But generally speaking, yes, the BRF are quite a formal bunch.)

I hope that when Catherine has recovered and feels ready to start attending events,we have a Danish state visit to the UK.The Danish Queen Alexandra was KF great great great nephew.(I think?)

Because he is president of the FA, he dresses that way for FA events. His tie is the FA tie, so he wears it whenever he's representing the Association, hence the rest of the formal attire.

ReplyDeletePossibly just some official. Members of opposing sides rarely sit beside each other (I'm not talking about ordinary. off-the-street' fans). At this level of notoriety, it could make for some awkward moments during the game if they did.

ReplyDeleteBeing from the US, I find the idea of wearing a tie to a sporting event very odd. I'm not sure "respect" comes into it. I got a kick out of seeing Queen Maxima's clothing choices during her recent visit to the US. She looked great but it's really easy to be "overdressed" compared to an American. If she had come to the west coast, the contrast would have been even more distinct. Allison

DeleteIn Europe when the royals are going on an official visit abroad (state visit or business trip) they always dress up. If they are photographed when they are somewhere in private (holidays i.e.) they are dressed casual too. If a queen or a princess has to visit a town or a place in her own country, she must dress up according to the type of visit. When a king is accompanied by his queen, the queen is more dressed up than when she is going to visit some place on her own. For the king it is easier he wears most of the time a suit, a white or light blue shirt and a tie. When he is on a biking trip i.e. with the queen and the children they are all dressed casual/sporty like anybody else (it depends in which country).
Why should anyone expect a 50 plus year old man to dress and act stuffy at a sporting event. He looks so boyish and handsome with his beautiful daughter.

ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that the only reason anyone is saying that Prince William looks older than King Frederick is because Frederick has more hair. Take that away, and I doubt very much that such comparisons would be made.
