On the evening of June 25, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace in honor of Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako. Among the approximately 150 guests at the banquet were members of the royal family and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The Prince of Wales, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were in attendance at the State Banquet.
Queen Camilla wore the Burmese Ruby Tiara for the State Banquet in honor of Japan's Emperor and Empress. Queen Camilla paired the piece with a cream silk crepe embroidered dress by Fiona Clare. Empress Masako wore the Imperial Chrysanthemum Tiara with the Order of the Precious Crown. The Imperial Chrysanthemum Tiara is a tiara that is only worn by the empress and features a design of chrysanthemum flowers.
The Duchess of Edinburgh wore the Lotus Flower Tiara—which Buckingham Palace notes was loaned to her by Queen Camilla. The Lotus Flower Tiara, which was made by the House of Garrard in 1923 for Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, was last publicly worn by the Princess of Wales at the Diplomatic Corps reception in 2022. The Duchess also wore a green dress by Suzannah London.
What a treat! All of the ladies look splendid in their tiaras and other gems. I was blown away by the gorgeous jewels on D. Sophie, lent to her apparently by QC. Unfortunately the photo here really doesn’t show them well. Also, special mention to D. of Gloucester who’s given us a master class on how to wear fabulous gems. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteWe finally see Charles' Family Order on Camilla. I read Charles chose the ribbon color based on the ribbon used by his great-grandfather, King George V.
ReplyDeleteBoth Camilla's and Masako's gowns look as expected in their respective styles. Both are wearing exquisite tiaras! They look like they are getting on very well. Sophie's gown is a bit of a disappointment. Based on what I can see here, it looks like it could be an everyday dress with a long skirt. I wish it was more extraordinary. The Duchess of Gloucester looks lovely.
Oh! The jewels!
ReplyDeleteCamilla is the jewel in the crown!
ReplyDeleteIndeed!!! So cordial and natural as EVER
DeleteEmpress Masako’s tiara is exquisite. Very nice to see Camilla wearing Charles’ Royal Family Order. The Duchess of Gloucester’s jewels are outstanding. I am happy to see Sophie finally wearing a different tiara, but not sure her necklace, which is lovely, pairs particularly well with it.

Why are the two Duchesses not wearing Charles´ Royal Family order? They both wear the late Queen´s order.
Delete@Anon 15:58 Because it has to be presented to you by the King (or whoever the reigning monarch is at the time) before you are allowed to wear it. So far he has only presented it to one person - The Queen Consort, and therefore only she has one to wear.
DeleteThe late Queen presented her family order to the two Duchesses and so they can wear those when called for.

DeleteThey will likely get it eventually, along with the Princess of Wales, the Princess Royal and maybe other royal ladies; it’s just a matter of them being created. They’re entirely hand-painted and hand-crafted so it takes time. So, here’s hoping we have lots of new orders to look forward to!

nothing exciting without PoW

DeleteDa findet jemand ein Haar in der Suppe....
DeleteThat’s not fair to the other ladies !!
DeleteHave another look…..
DeleteWhy would you want POW to steal the show from an empress who is hard working and wears the most exquisite gowns.
DeleteThe Ladies - the Queen - the Emperess - the Duchess of Edinburgh - the Duchess of Gloucester - the look absolutely beautiful.

DeleteJ'ai réussi à trouver une photo du diadème Cartier personnel de la duchesse de Gloucester qui est sublime. Composé de diamants, de saphirs ? et perles, c'est mon préféré !
Awesome jewels! and both ladies look wonderful in white.
ReplyDeleteCamilla looks amazing, so does Masako. Lovely ladies. Hope Catherine gets well soon and can attend such events again in the forseeable future.
ReplyDeleteStunning jewellery! Great to see the Gloucester Cartier Indian tiara and the other big guns.
ReplyDeleteMagnifique look chez toutes ces dames. Comme souvent, je préfère celui de la duchesse de Gloucester dont j'adore tous les bijoux !
ReplyDeleteBoth Camilla and Empress looked stunning. I love that Camilla wore the Burmese tiara with a white gown,a nod to Japans flag. Soft diplomacy at its best.
ReplyDeleteThe Empress wearing the Chrysanthemum tiara for the 1st time another show of respect.
I was disappointed in Sophie’s choice of gown. The color was off and the cut around the chest area off.It looks like the chiffon was stuffed into the bodice. However the jewels on loan made up for the dress. I like that Sophie has a more substantial tiara at her disposal. With a plethora of tiaras in the vaults you’d think there’d be more sharing.
DoG looked lovey. She’s an elegant lady.
Lowri.
Well as long as they can wear their tiara, double diamonds necklaces, bracelets and broaches, they think that they are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat I see here is that Empress Masako's diamond necklace does not look so old. On the other hand Queen Camilla's and Duchess of Gloucester's are looking very old (pictures 1, 4 & 7).
That is exactly what I thought, the diamonds on Camila look very dingy and dirty, while the Empress’s look clean and breathtaking. It also doesn’t look like a happy occasion, a good number of the photos look very somber and the one of the king and Camilla look as if they’ve had an argument, Remage
DeleteWOW: What an impressive occasion but one almost needs sunglasses to look at these photos.
ReplyDeleteI remember recently reading an expression that said “overdose yourself with jewellery and they won’t notice your wrinkles”😁
Well said Deadeggs. This is about what I thought too.
DeleteI need some jewellery please...
DeleteThe tiara's were exquisite, from the Burmese Ruby tiara, to the Gloucester Cartier Indian tiara, the Imperial Chrysanthemum tiara, and the Lotus Flower tiara Sophie wore. The diamond necklaces worn, were a little too much, would have rather seen necklaces on the ladies of coordinating gem stones. Gowns, Empress Masako's was beautiful, light, airy, yet, classy, extremely well made. Cam's was just another white gown. Sophie's was not to my taste, but she must have liked it. The Duchess of G wore a lovely high necked gown that was superb. The beautiful flowers must have created a wonderful scent for the dining experience.

The Duchess of Gloucester looks great. I know it’s not for everyone, but her gown is something I would wear in a heartbeat. The style is practical yet elegant. Her jewels are breathtaking. My only question is about the riband. Is it the garter riband?
ReplyDeleteYes, it was the sash/riband of the Order of the Garter. She was made a Royal Lady Companion just a little over a week ago.
DeleteWhere are the rest of the British royals, and yes, know Anne is at the hospital. For some reason, I don't like the Burmese tiara to the blue sash... maybe if there had been some red in the dress? Hadn't Sophie been in green, I would have wondered if there was a white party invite 😉
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese prefer white dress, thus the white gowns, I believe, in a nod to their guests.
DeleteYes, after two days of the ladies in nothing but white, I was wondering as well.
DeleteI’m waiting for Kate to get better🥹
ReplyDeleteBeautiful jewelry! My favourite tiaras are the ones worn by Empress M and the DoG.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering do they make any adjustments to the fabric of the gowns? Looking at the Duchess of Gloucester's gown - it looks too delicate to hold that large medal (The Garter Star?). I would think, it would need something substantial to hold onto.
ReplyDeleteI saw a close-up of Empress Masako's chrysanthemum tiara on another site and by jove, is it ever exquisite. The patterns of arrangement, and the size and shapes of the diamonds to complement the patterns make that tiara supremely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI also saw images of her gown - simply cut, with sequins, light beading and a small train behind, and it too is lovely. When it could easily have veered towards excess, there is instead a definite sense of quite restrain in its presentation, which to me is typically and politely Japanese. Just beautiful.

Dear 9:13. Your summary is excellent.
DeleteCould one also say, quiet luxury?
The Empress's tiara is beautiful. The Duchess of Gloucester’s jewels are magnificent. Love her gown. She was the favorite for me here.
ReplyDeleteMine as well.
DeleteBeautiful dresses and stunning jewels. Just love it. css
