  2. This is a very smart and elegant dress with a great hat. The dress is long, of course, but with a smart pair of heels, it looks okay. Lovely to see Lady Rose Lady Davina an d the Earl of Ulster there to witness their mother's big day ---and very well deserved honour.

The Duchess of Gloucester is really quite lovely - beautiful complexion. Glad she is rewarded for so much service. She often doesn't get the deserved credit the younger ones do.

  5. In my humble opinion this is the loveliest dress we have seen on Sophie for a long time.
I love the color, pattern and style.
Appropriate hem length for the style although some will probably disagree with me.
    Perfest accessories too.

    1. Read on another site that the fabric used for Duchess Sophie’s dress is a linen and silk mix. There doesn’t appear to be a name for this mix in the rag trade. The wrinkle factor with linen is said to be reduced when mixed with silk.

  6. Congratulations to Duchess of Gloucester, she looks royal. I would like to see a picture of QC's dress, it seems to be from a soft, nice fabric. And indeed Sophie's dress is also a very nice one.

  7. Beautiful costumes for the ceremony.
Love Duchess Sophie’s dress just as it is, length belt etc and the hat goes well with the outfit.
BUT: I get the feeling that Sophie is the Cinderella of the occasion.
She’s not allowed to wear the costumes yet ??.
I read that Prince Andrew is banned from the event for the third year running.
When I read this the following came to mind ….
“let the one who has not sinned cast the first stone”
But then, stone throwing has got nothing to do with fashion so …..
well chosen accessories especially the handbag.

  9. Sophie really hits the mark with this beautiful ensemble. The dress is pretty and flatters her figure and her hat and purse complement the look! Perfect for this special day!!

Totalement en accord avec vous. Je suis tellement contente pour elle. Elle mérite cet honneur. Elle et son mari apportent loyalement et discrètement leur soutien au monarque régnant (passé et présent).

Sophie looks nice overall, but, well, I suppose she just doesn't find value in the slightest bit of tailoring. The sleeves are too long and it detracts for me.

It seems to me that the British royals look happy in their long blue velvet capes and their hats with feathers. On almost every photo they are smiling.
Duchess Sophie's dress is not bad. But if I was in her place the first thing I asked to do is to make the sleeves a bit shorter and certainly make the skirt of the dress shorter. The proportions look better on the model. I wonder when the British royal ladies are going to adopt a new hat style. Duchess Sophie's hat has more or less the same style for how many years now ? It could easily be worn in a movie or a musical about "My fair lady".

I agree. Those sharply tilted, saucer shaped hats have worn out their welcome (for me) for several years. Now they just look ridiculous. In this age of artistic creativity and modernism, there are dozens and dozens of beautiful hats, including some fun, avant garde styles, for a refreshingly different look. But I suppose old habits die hard after a certain age for many people. I was disappointed to see young Lady Louise wearing one of her mother's on the weekend.

A very summery look from Duchess Sophie.A lovely re-wear of her hat.
I think a clutch bag would have finished the look, rather than clutching to the strap of a shoulder bag.
But overall the colors are lovely.

  14. Its splendid to see Sophie wearing the Australian brand Zimmerman. I think this dress looks lovely. I can imagine a pearl necklace and earrings (I can only wish!) Her accessories look good and I love her hat.
