Each year, along the route, the Crown Princess organizes literary meetings with authors and the public. The meetings are usually held at the local library.

M-M looks great--classic outfit and love she added the blue jacket for meeting people later in the day. She looks marvelous with the side part--wish she had kept it all day and would wear her hair that way all the time. I would love to be part of a literary train--what fun!

Don't worry the side part is doing a comeback so you will see her in it more often in the future.

Mette-Marit wanted to work in a library when she was young girl!

I would happily have that train carriage as my office! Imagine. It’s stunning and proper scandi-cosy. MM is great with books; she looks lovely but for the train visits and getting off to walk in different towns I would recommend some Letizia-styled shoes vs heels. - Grace

      @ Grace
It is not because Queen Letizia has to wear trainers for her feet problems that CP MM has to do the same. She has already enough health problems of her own, so let her wear her high heels as long as she can/wants. I am sure if the necessity is there she will replace her stiletto's by lower heels or trainers, she is a smart lady.

Not everyone finds wearing heels difficult. I did for years never had a problem. They do make outfits look more polished. Shoes can make or break an outfit.

Don't worry MM wore flats on the train.

MM started this tradition with her literary train in 2014. It was an enormous success. She even took the train to Berlin, but because of her illness and the pandemic it has been a few years since the last one. The CP told she is doing very well right now, health wise.

What a fabulous initiative. Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway would have a fabulous time catching up with Queen Camilla. Given Q.Camilla's The Reading Room Podcast has been a continued success, entering its next phase + the recent event held to share Readings, meet with Authors + other avid readers, imagine if Mette was able to participate in it too. Perhaps one day they'll do a joint PodCast. I love this idea of Travelling Train LIbrary. I wonder if it means that any regular passenger on their way to school, work or tourist adventure, can choose a book to read on the train + then pop it back when you're at your destination or do they get to borrow it like a Library system. I'm keen to learn more. We have Library Houses in my neighbourhood - several homes have built the cutest mini house structure with shelves inside + glass doors. Any person can take out a book + keep it or return it after reading. You can also donate any books you've read from your own shelves at home. Totally free. A trust + honour system. Books of all genres + for all ages. 🇦🇺 📚 🇳🇴

These Library Houses are now common in neighborhoods all over the world. We have several in our area too, and I see them almost everywhere we travel.

In 2014 MM had an open library in the palace park gazebo. So she's not new to this.

Both Queen Camilla and Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s initiatives have been on-going for years. I’m glad to see others are finally seeing and appreciating them. The crown princess has received some awards, including from Germany, for this.

In my country the national railroad company started one day with an initiative to loan books to the people who went to work each morning by train. I think it must not have been a success because soon nobody heard anymore of this initiative.
Since in every town there are public libraries most people who like reading can go there and loan a book for 3 weeks. After the 3 weeks you receive a memo on your computer that it is time to bring the book(s) back. For retired people the loan is free of charge. The other readers are paying a little amount of money. One can also loan video's and the library has also books in foreign languages. The collection is very elaborated and new books which are coming out are regularly bought. The library is connected with other libraries in other towns in the region which are also member of the public libraries system. The loan system is completely computerized. There is just one lady who is present to assist readers who need some explanation on how to use one of the desk tops at the entrance of the library. Nowadays everyone who likes to read just has to ask for a readers card you need to use the computer system. There is also a kids corner in the building where young readers can enjoy reading books adapted at their age. There are also cosy corners for people who are just dropping by for a quick visit to read a newspaper or a magazine they like. That is how a modern public library can solve the need of people who like books these days.

I meant to add, I adore the young girl in her beautiful pink dress. It looks like she felt like a Princess as she met a real Princess, a Crown Princess at that. How sweet

Great idea, but where are the good living writers? Linn Ullman? Oh please! So that train should be a sort of 'dead poets society' presenting to the public the real great writers:Proust Woolf Tolstoi... those geniuses almost unknown to the average public, spending the little time they dedicate to reading reading best sellers😭

So, people don’t read correctly? I think the entire idea is to get people to read.

    2. Anonymous12/6/24 16:43

Linn ullman has written 6 best selling books yes, and is published in 20 countries, but I guess since non of the Norwegian authors aren't good enough even if someone obviously haven't read any of their books, you probably are gonna find something wrong with Virginie Despentes also? PS it's a bit hard having a conversation with dead authors isn't it? What books have they written about society today? And what have we done to promote the dead authors to new readers ourselves?

Literature is one of the best purposes one can support, yes! but as this is a fashion blog, don't stone me please for the fashion related remark that there are better ways to wear trousers + a sweater/polo than tucking in the top. Just not tucking it in could help enormously.

  12. What a marvelous initiative. Literacy is one of the most important things, to be able to read, what a joy. This is simply fabulous. The train idea is brilliant. The outfit looks really good, perfect for this occasion. The pants fit well and the top is casual yet smart looking.
