Today, on May 17, Norway celebrates Constitution Day with children's parades. Crown Prince family's celebration started at their home, Skaugum Estate in Asker. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Princess Ingrid Alexandra wore their national costumes and afterwards, they welcomed the traditional children's parade.
Thereafter, in Oslo, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Princess Ingrid Alexandra greeted the children's parade and the crowd from the balcony of the Royal Palace. This tradition was established in 1906 by King Haakon and Queen Maud, and has been upheld every year since, except in 1910 due to the death of Queen Maud's father and during World War II.

Beautiful photos. Ingrid Alexandra’s resemblance to her Grandmother the Queen at a similar age is remarkable. The bunads are exquisite and lovely to see.
ReplyDeleteJust wow, lovely look on everyone.
ReplyDeleteQ S is so wonderful in her bunad, I hope we will see more pictures with the bunad!
ReplyDeleteWhere is QS in her bunad? Is it on another site?
Delete- Anon 9:13
In which picture is QS wearing a bunad!?
DeleteShe has to talk in a generally term. Sonja didn't wear bunad yesterday. They only wear bunad on the balcony at special events.
DeleteQ S often has a bunad, but not this time!
DeleteNice look for everyone. I must say Ingrid Alexandra looks fantastic in uniform. Next year we may see Sverre Magnus as well in uniform. Happy National day. css
ReplyDeleteNot sure why she was wearing her uniform though, was there a military occasion at the same time? And why does Haakon wear his uniform then..dosen’t make sense.
DeleteShe was wearing a military uniform because she is currently doing her military service. As simple as that, I think.
Delete12:56 why do you think her grandfather when he was doing his service in the military wore these outfits? https://premium.vgc.no/v2/images/a79797ab-37cd-4fd9-afc2-82eb7e199da4?fit=crop&format=auto&h=1843&w=1979&s=307df7edbab23b2d1aff7c3c3c65de1f327f9d8f

Anon 20.13, so why was he?
Delete17:20 what is it that you don't
Deleteunderstand? The funny thing here is no one asked why princess Leonore wore her uniform celebrating Spains national day. It's kind of normal using a uniform at events like this when you do your service. Can we stop the nonsense.
Anon 20.31, not comparing to Spain but to my understanding in Spain there was a military parade in connection to the celebration involving the king wearing his military uniform aswell. Was there a military parade in Norway aswell? Maybe there are more pictures to be seen.
DeleteThe national costumes are just gorgeous! They all look splendid. Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s military uniform - wow - 10 points!
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks splendid!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. The little ones look adorable, what a lovely experience for them both. CP Ingrid looks fabulous, a natural beauty. The uniforms look immaculate, outstanding.
ReplyDeletePrincess Ingrid Alexandra is not crown princess yet. Her father and mother are the crown prince and crown princess. Other than that, I agree on all your points.
DeleteT
Totally agree with Ava!
DeleteI’m always in awe of princess Ingrid Alexandra. She is smart, humble, nice and beautiful. Both her looks here get 10 out of 10 for me. She will make a wonderful Queen one day.
ReplyDeleteT
Absolutely lovely. Fantastic. They look smashing.
ReplyDeleteTrès belles photos , nous avons l'occasion de voir Ingrid Alexandra porter un uniforme mais de quelle arme ?

Delete@ Achard62, I very much assume she wears the uniform of the Norwegian army? One would not think that? 😁 No offence, joke impendet. I would say it is the fomal uniform of her batallion, the Engineer Battalion. At least that is what the batch on her jacket indicates. The batch on her beret, I do not know. Until now, I believe we saw her only in her combat uniform.
DeleteArmèe de terre
DeleteWhy is it on for the national day?
Deleteà Elisa 18/5/24 14:27
DeleteMerci pour cette précision car l'armée norvégienne comporte différents corps !
Beth it's the Kings monogram an H with 5 intertwined, for Harald the fifth. Here are the NRF monograms. A little curiosity Ingrid Alexandras monogram was drawn up by Queen Margrethe of Denmark. https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHYnuU30Vr7piDrdDvgNlFZCB66U9x1PEXj2hTYCpsOBXr9Eirypj8D4dB_7nn2a-K5HpMD4M1-NZGxzrhYk7Bfr2yBxZaIhmHeMJ1ZoF85LxuUNYRC9HFw6oyEVMCwnp1UUsi-epaVeY/s1600/norske.jpg
DeletePS Ingrid is wearing a parade dress uniform for the army. Beth is pretty much right in everything she say.
Delete@Anonymous18/5/24 20:27 That was an interesting information about the King's monogram. Thank you.
DeleteAnon 20.35, was there a military parade that day aswell?
DeleteAnon 20.35, why does it say Alexandra on her name tag?
DeleteNorway doesn't do military parade. Norway’s 17th of May is a party for everyone, especially children. Children’s parades take place across the country, as marching school bands lead processions through local communities, small villages and big cities. After the parade there is speeches, we play games, eat hot dogs and a lot and lot of ice cream.
DeleteA recruits name is always their last named, so since Ingrid doesn't have a last name the army chose to use her middle name which is Alexandra. So she is called recruit Alexandra.
Wouldn’t it be Glücksburg?
Delete15:56. No, they don't use that and never has. None of the royal houses do.
DeleteBeth, I think Achard62 kindly asks if Ingrid is in the Army, Navy or Air Force.
ReplyDelete@ Elisa. It is possible she started her training in the Army but afterwards she can also have to do a training in the Navy and/or the Air Force. Just like Princess Leonor from Spain does. After all the young European princesses will be General in Chief of the Forces of their country or whatever the grades are called once they become queen. It is not always the same in every European country. Also the fact of wearing a uniform or not. On National days in some countries the King is wearing his uniform. When Denmark was on State visit in Norway the men were already wearing uniforms upon arrival. In other countries it is not always like that. For the State Banquet a gala uniform is often worn. I think it is a custom from the old days that became tradition. In the old days the kings wore their uniform from the moment they came out through the door of their castle.
DeleteI think so to.
DeleteLove this family, the national costumes are wonderful.
