The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are making a three-day visit to Nigeria. The three-day trip marks The Duke and Duchess' first official visit to Nigeria. On May 10, 2024, The Duke and Duchess visited Lightway Academy in Abuja to launch its first-ever Mental Health Summit, the result of an expanded partnership between The Archewell Foundation and The Geanco Foundation. The Duke and Duchess then visited the Nigerian Defence Headquarters.
Heidi Merrick Windsor Gown
They both look very good. I love the Merrick dress and one could never go wrong with a white pant suit
ReplyDeleteTerrible tailoring sweping floor dress and pants.
DeleteAgree 100% with Ladyofthemanor10/5/24
DeleteLove the dress and the suit. The Duchess is looking very beautiful. It is a pleasure to see how warm they get on with people. Reminds me on Lady Diana.
Please, only royal fashion on this gorgeous website. Not these California wannabee-rent-a-royals…
DeleteJosefien
Josefien they are just as much royals as Zara, Bea, Eugenie, Madeleine and so on. Are you saying all of them also shouldn't be fronted here or is it just hate we read?
DeleteEinfach zu viel Haut, gerade im Vergleich zu den anderen Damen.
DeleteDoes she not have a tailor, to alter her clothes? That dress looks like she got it out of a recycled bin, shocking. She always misses the mark with something. The white suit nice but the camisole is not the same tone of white once again she misses the mark. Her hair looks terrible her extensions are a very bad quality.
ReplyDeletethe royal family made her wear these
DeleteAnon 00 27, I hope you are being sarcastic! In the unlikely event that you’re serious, please explain how the Duchess can pass the blame for her lack of good taste to the royal family.
DeleteDon't Kate or Sophie after all how many times have we seen them stepping on their hems? Did you complained then? Guess you didn't have a problem with this https://www.wonderwall.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2017/06/1006018-royal-wedding-carriage-procession-to-buckingham-palace-a.jpg?h=800
DeleteAgree, Anonymous11/5/24 11:03
DeleteKate Middelton was stepping on her hem.
Meghan looks very good in both outfits but the white suit is perfect. Harry looks very happy and relaxed, lovely couple.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see them again. They look wonderful! Meghan’s white suit is elegant and its bell-shaped jacket is flattering. I guess the large beaded necklaces were given by the Nigerian hosts. Very pretty feminine dress in a soft color that looks cool in a warm climate.
ReplyDeletewhy?
DeleteWhere are photo's of working royals, such as the Princess Royal, Anne, who is in her 70's, and takes on more engagements than the other British royals thus far this year, and for many years in the past???? The non royals, are just that, on a faux tour, yet featured on this blog? How much $$ did they pay for this??
ReplyDeleteAnna.
Yeah, to freedom of speech!
Nothing makes you read this post. The blog owner writes about many non working royals. Why not just read the ones that interest you? LRB
DeleteExactly! This has nothing to do with royal fashion
DeleteI agree with you. This is not an official visit as they are not there in any official capacity (they chose not to have one) but rather to promote their private (business) interests.
DeleteI´m therefore also reacting to her audacity to wear a "Windsor" dress for this tour, again leeching off the name of the family she allegedly wants nothing to do with.
Well his father is the King so he is royal
DeleteAnonymous 20:56, your suggestion that the moderator of this blog takes money for postings is offensive in the extreme. Your blathering about “where are working royals” is also very offensive as Helen covers a wide variety of royals and their families daily—even those who are technically not royal. Free speech does not entitle you to false accusations. And, for the 1,000 time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ARE ROYAL. They both retain the HRH titles even though they do not use them. Harry is the son of a King and that will never change. This is a good will visit to Nigeria for good causes. I am respectfully asking blog owner Helen to consider removing your non-factual and offensive post.
DeleteHatespeech has nothing to do with freedom of speach.
DeleteHatespeech has nothing to do with freedom of speach.
DeleteI agree with Anonymous 01:05.
DeleteAnna congratulations you just managed to embarrass yourself. Please stop the whining about non working royal. As long as you don't say the same bs comment about Zara, Bea or Eugenie. And agree with the other ladies hate speech is not freedom of speech. Agree with 22:43 and 1:05 And Venessa give us a break it a dress for godness sake. Sometimes 🤦♀️🤦♂️🤦-Sarah
DeleteNot a fan of these two at all but they are still royal.
DeleteOnly "royal" for now.........
DeleteLol windsor dress, always trying so hard to be connected her former employer.
DeleteDear Sarah, I don’t find Anna’s comment anything but her opinion. Your response however is snarky and the palm to face emoticons are unnecessary. How about a comment about what you think of the fashion you see rather than trying to squash another? Kind regards, Bob.
DeleteIt's not difficult to understand where Bob stands. Obviously, "it" didn't read Anna's comment.
DeleteStunning.
ReplyDeleteYes, but not in a good way.
DeleteAgree 21:16. Stunning. Jenny.
DeleteDear no name 21:16
DeleteI wouldn’t say ‘stunning’ but rather a good choice for a visit to a hot African country.
I’d call it “Out of Africa - chic”
Maybe a fashion house will pick up the thread (pun intended) and do a summer range 2025 called “Out of Africa - chic”. 😀
I think it’s a business trip promoting sports rather than an official visit. They are not representing the British Royal Family on this trip, hence not official. The white suit looks fresh as did Queen Letizia’s this week. Very impractical for keeping clean during travel but very fresh! (Grace)
ReplyDeletePromoting themselves I think !!
DeleteIt is possible to have official trips that are not representing the British royal family. This is an official trip on behalf of Invictus, and the Nigerians look extremely happy to be welcoming them. Invictus has such an important role to play why not just celebrate that? LRB
DeleteThis morning in the African newspaper ABC News Nigeria, they mentioned that ……the Duke and Duchess’s visit has no affiliation with Britain's royal family, and is instead at the invitation of Nigeria's Chief of Defense Staff, Christopher Gwabin Musa who is the country’s highest ranking military official.
DeleteThey both appear to have a busy schedule with time being split between their foundation, Archewell, the Invictus games and fundraising events.
Nice teal colour suit, pleasant change from blue. Not a fan of halter style tops, but she can wear . Something odd about the white suit pants in the way they fit. Otherwise nice outfits for the warm weather
ReplyDeleteThe white pantsuit looks fabulous, great fit and especially love the jacket. Very chic look. The camisole underneath is not a match to the white of the outfit, not a good look. The Herrick dress is terrible. The hemline is atrocious. The skirt has way too much fabric and does not sit well or have a nice flow. From the waist down the fit is not good. The tailoring and styling of this dress is a fail.
ReplyDeleteHer hair, the extensions are not a good look, I saw a close up of them, very unattractive.
The white pants suit is nice but not on her - it is a size too small. Note at the top of her legs and how the button pulls the jacket skew around her waist
DeleteFake tour. Ugly shabby dress it looks like she traveled there to sweep the floor.
ReplyDeleteLol. My thoughts exactly Privacy World Tour. At least have the decency to visit sick family, both sides of the family.
DeleteFake comment from at no so nice person.
DeleteEven if he wanted to visit sick family Prince Harry has been kicked out after 20 or 40 minutes. When he was in London recently and asked to see his father, the answer was no time. What would you do if your family treats you like that. And on top of that, just after the king took away a military title of Harry to give it to his eldest son Prince William.
DeleteWhen I am reading all that I am not surprised that they left for the US.
BRF is always and forever in desperate need of a scapegoat.
DeleteAnon 11 21 , note that what has always been reported about this is that “a spokesman for Prince Harry” has said that the King’s schedule is too busy for a meeting. Given Harry’s ability to twist things for his own ends, I suspect there will be more to it than that. King Charles, of course , will have the dignity and diplomacy not to respond
DeleteAnon 13.52 luckily Harry makes it easy for them.

Thx Deadeggs. I enjoyed the pictures of Meghan in her white gala dress and Harry in his white suit. I also saw her in her sun dress with ethnic prints. Very stylish.
Delete@ 11/5 15:34
DeleteThe evidence was there the photographers saw the car with Prince Harry drive into the premises where King Charles resided that day. They saw the car with prince Harry in it, drive out again between 20 and 40 minutes later. Right after that King Charles and Queen Camilla took an helicopter to bring them to one of their castles (Sandringham, I think it was) where the king could rest and receive his treatment against cancer. What more evidence do you want ? If my son took a plane immediately after he heard the news I was sick and had cancer and came directly to me from the airport, I would be very moved. I would not have send him away and tell him I didn't had time to talk to him. Personally I think there were people in the entourage of King Charles that send Harry away. I wouldn't be surprised. Sometimes I got the impression when Queen Elisabeth was still alive that there were also people of her entourage who had the power to decide in her place. If she agreed or not, we will never know and the same is happening now with King Charles.
The dress looks much too long on Meghan, and I do not care for the way the sides of it are bare to her waist. The white suit is fine, but maybe would have looked nice with a gold top underneath.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
I wonder if the royal watcher come her to criticize people she can't say anything about on her instagram page?
Delete@Anonymous 10:39 - I do not have an Instagram page.
Delete-Royal Watcher
Can’t or chooses not to..
DeleteShe would lose followers did she say the same on instagram.
DeleteOfficial? Really?
ReplyDeleteOfficial? Really?
ReplyDeleteStarting with the positives.I like the crisps white suit, and Harry’s green suit a nod I think to the Nigerian flag.Though I could be wrong!
ReplyDeleteI like the apricot color of the dress, perfect for the climate!I was disappointed at the length.Unless of course she’s gone bare footed.Otherwise it seems to be gathered or dragging on the floor.
My only other slight gripe.Nigeria is predominantly aMuslim country,I think 56% are Muslims.Would a full covered dress been a better choice?I notice the back of the dress is bare.
Lowri
If you look at other photos of the event there are women with uncovered shoulders, so I don't think the bare back is an issue in the area they're currently visiting.
DeleteCinci
Muslim country or not - a bare back dress is rather inappropriate, especially during daytime. It´s hard to hide a bra under it, so she´s likely without. Given the nude colour, it really looks like a slip, to be worn under a better dress.
Delete@ Vanessa
DeleteJealous that she can wear that dress without a bra ? Not every woman can do that.
The question is not whether one can, but rather whether one should.
DeleteThat's exactly what I thought as well; (I used to live in Nigeria a long time ago) and I really don't see many women with uncovered shoulders on the photos, rather the opposite.
DeleteSo that brings up the question - were the African women wearing a bra?
DeleteIt's so sad when British royal doesn't know how to dress visiting Nigeria. https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod/images/the-duke-of-edinburgh-and-queen-elizabeth-ii-on-their-news-photo-1715279868.jpg?crop=1xw:1xh;center,top&resize=980:*

DeleteThanks for the links.
But you could ask the question do the African women know how to dress when they visit Europe?
This is the official Unofficial tour. As for
ReplyDeleteMeghan's fashion sense/choices, thumbs down she has no style, which is something money cannot buy & she really needs a tailor to adjust those clothes.
I don't like them. I wouldn't want to see them on this blog.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I'm sure the pain will soon go away.
DeleteStop whining. It so easy to prevent just skip the pages about them. We want to see and read about them.
DeleteDo you understand the concept of scroll on by? LRB
DeleteThe Blog can happily do without Anonymous11/5/24 05:15.
Deletethe brown dress is much too long
ReplyDeleteLovely couple. They are looking good and happy together.
ReplyDeleteI like the way they are dressed. Meghan's dress is perhaps a bit too long, but she is the one who has to wear it. So if she can walk and not fall with a long dress like that, fine with me.
The peach dress is too long and looks like a well used paper bag. The white suit is okay. The outfits on several of the Nigerian ladies are beautifully colorful and bright.
ReplyDeleteThey are working for the british royal family again!
ReplyDelete@No name 08:08
DeleteNo, nothing to do with the British royal family.
They accepted an invitation from Christopher Gwabin Musa who is the country’s highest ranking military officer. Their visit is for the Archewell foundation, the Invictus games and fundraising events.
Thank you ♡ deadeggs.
DeleteEverything they do has to do with the British royal family, unfortunately!
DeletePoor observation skills. They are wearing the colors of the Nigerian flag. A sign of respect to the hosts.
DeleteAB
Absolutely gorgeous. A great couple.
ReplyDeleteCan't agree more - chic and elegant.
DeleteMust laugh again piss on Meghan parade. We have seen dresses on Kate and Sophie so long they have to use their hands to keep them up not to step on them. Never a bad comment. Meghan could look perfect and still some people would find something to criticize. Meghan and Harry both look smashing. PS you people must be gods gift to men when you look at yourself in the mirror 😂🤣
ReplyDeleteEach time, Harry and Meghan are visiting an event in the US or are going abroad to promote their work, the same hate reactions are coming back. We will have a lot of reading to do this weekend. There are commenters here who are not ashamed to say that they hate this couple. These commenters are the ones who always will have critics on Meghan's clothes, even if she is wearing the most beautiful and the most expensive dress that ever has been created. Automatically and immediately the haters are there even without taking a good look at the dress or the pant suit or what ever she is wearing.
ReplyDeleteI bet that when a female member of the RF or another aristocratic lady would wear the same, the haters would change quickly their comments into very positive reactions like how beautiful they find the dress on her, accompanied by all the Oh's ! and Ah's ! I can imagine.
Anon 11:38. Spot on! I agree 100%.
DeletePlease go easy on the reading time we'll need this week-end.
DeleteI've got two hot meals with meat and vegies to do plus the roast on Sunday 😁 No soap operas on Sunday so that will help me a lot.
Heureuse de revoir ce charmant couple
ReplyDeleteFroufrou
ReplyDeleteNo name 12:37, But I wonder if she (the Duchess) would like anything about you?
DeleteA bit off topic but somewhat tied to the Sussexes’s visit to Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteThe Archewell foundation financially supports GEANCO, which is a Los Angeles’ based charity. One of the aims of GEANCO is to help African women financially and materially with, amongst many things, education and hygiene products for African girls and women.
An insight to their work can be seen via …..

M has to much make-up, the eyebrows are to dark, it makes her face looks tired!
ReplyDeleteShe flew from LA to London to Nigeria… without a real break. I imagine she is exhausted. I would be. LRB
DeleteI like the dress, but wished it wasn't so long. Maybe it is meant to be worn with higher shoes. The pantsuit I don't care for. I wish she would wear her hair parted on the side again, it suits her much better than this middle part. Her make-up is great as always.
ReplyDeleteT
I like the white suit, look's very good. The peach-colored dress is way too long. The tour to get and be seen. css
