King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are making a two-day state visit to Norway at the invitation of King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway. On May 14, Danish King Frederik and Queen Mary arrived in Honnørbryggen aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog. Upon disembarkation, the King and Queen were welcomed by King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway.
In the afternoon, King Frederik and Queen Mary, together with Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, visited Storting.
Fendi Fall Winter 2018/19 Collection
I love the pictures of the King and Queen being greeted by the Crown Prince couple - they look truly delighted to see each other. They must have a very warm friendship.
ReplyDelete-Royal Watcher
The do, the King was even the Crown Prince’s best man at his wedding. Also the Crown Prince couple are god parents to the King’s heir.
DeleteAlso they are related, the King’s mother and the Crown Prince’s father are cousins.

It was so heart-warming to see King Frederik and uncle Harald(as Frederik say he calls King Harald) hug each other. This show how close they are. They call each other family. They all were smiling and laughing a lot. And they look smashing. QS in Dannebrog colours, Mary in the Norwegian colours and MM is reusing her Fendi dress. Must be so funny and a bit strange to curtsey to a close family friend.
ReplyDeleteCan hardly wait until tonight's tiara event 😃
Well, they don't just call each other family I believe they're all actually family via Queen Victoria. Cousins and cousin-in-laws, etc.
DeleteYou forget King Haakon, born the Danish Prince Carl, was Christian X brother, which makes King Harald and Queen Margrethe second cousins. And Danish Alexandra married to King Edward VII was King Olav( Haralds father)grandmother.
DeleteWe have heard CP Haakon call Queen Margrethe aunt Daisy. Today we several times have heard Frederik say uncle Harald and aunt Sonja , so no suprise Haskon asked Frederik to be his best man when he got married to MM. Obviously they are, very, very, very close.
DeleteAnd again Mary looks perfect. Sonja also looks very beautiful. Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteits like a family reunion, everybody happy to see each other. the ladies seem like they are going for a wedding but dressed beautifully! Mette's hat looks more glamorous on this occasion
ReplyDeleteAll three ladies look very good, but Q.Sonja looks fab! The colour of her coat and the detail on it is most attractive on her. Mary and Mette Marit are dressed smartly but without any big fuss. You can see that this is a celebration of friends - there is no need to impress each other with too much of anything, and that in itself is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe gentlemen all look very smart in their uniforms too - formal and dashing, yet by their wide smiles, theirs too is a reunion of close friends.

The Norway's are looking better dressed than the Danish, I'm sorry to say.
ReplyDeleteEven Sonja is dressed to make a younger look.
I'm sorry Mary, why adding unnecessary years and becoming to granny?
Her attitude and appearance are always fresh and 2024 but the the clothing-style detracts from it pitifully.
The 50's Dior look with the hair loose will do it, drop the headgear-thing granny-style, so much better.
Mette-Marit is beautiful in Fendi and loves her hair loose but she can better more often choose to do it up haha.
I Wonder if the sister of Haakon also will appear.
-Anna-
No, Märtha doesn't represent the royal house anymore.
DeleteBecoming to is being.
Delete-Anna-
there is two Norwegians ladies vs one Norwegian lady
Delete3 Norwegians ladies (including Granny who only comes out for the photoshoot)
DeleteAnon 18:15, you mean Auntie Astrid? She is King Harald's sister, and was the senior female royal under their father after the death of their mother. She seems a delightful lady.
DeleteThe nasty granny comment 18:15 should have left out. Princess Astrid in 92 years old and still do events and work for her country. A work moral we all should 👏
DeleteCPMM: Always liked this dress on her. Well-constructed with simple eye-catching details. The hat not so much. But she looks very good indeed.
ReplyDeleteQM: No, no, and no. Old-fashioned, boring. That's it. But figure and posture perfect, as always.
QS: Dannebrog colours meets... India...? I don't know. But she looks healthy and good.
Amy
They see really happy to see eatch other so lovely too see 🥰
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dress on Q S!
ReplyDeleteWrote a long comment hours ago. Not nasty. Talked about Frederik and Harald hug that we don't see a photo of her. How heartwarming it was. Mentioned that Frederik calls Harald for uncle. That the Queens are wearing a tribute to the others with Sonja in Dannebrogs colours and Mary in the Norwegian colours. And that they all look nice. That there has been a lot of smiles and laughter. I see noe a comment obviously writen after, so why censor mine? What was wrong with it?
ReplyDeleteNot necessarily censorship - just occasionally there are glitches with the Publish button. - Grace
DeleteDon't panic - on another site I visit, it can take up to three days before you see your comment published. It seems they do a lot of filtering of comments that are off topic.
DeleteWell deadeggs doesn't work obviously when we see all the hate that make it true, specially everytime a certain lady is out and about...
DeleteDear No name 08:19
DeleteThe delay and filtering of 'off topic' comments was related to the other royal site that I visit.
I was just giving an example of what happens on another site.
Sorry if I wasn't clear with my explanation.😊
Q S is just wonderful in her red dress! A big no for M and MM!
ReplyDeleteC'est un plaisir de voir Mette-Marit dans une robe dont la jupe est à larges plis ; elle épouse bien sa silhouette. J'aime beaucoup son élégante capeline ainsi que son petit clutch !
ReplyDeleteLove Love LOVE!
ReplyDeleteKing Frederik was asked by the press how it has been to King for 4 moths?
ReplyDeleteHe replied: -It has been a crazy year.
The best dressed is CP Mette Marit. The Fendi dress suits her and the hat is a good combination with the cream part of her dress.
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary : since she is a queen I never saw her in an elegant outfit anymore. I do not agree with Anna who talks about QMary's granny style. The granny's of today are dressed more modern than QMary.
A pity queen Sonia's coat is a bit too short. The color of the hat and the coat are beautiful and matching.
About Queen Sonia, I read about her dress, cannot see the dress, she has a red coat which is too buzy in my view. I don't like the white embroidery applied. Congrats to MM for the very nice Fendi dress. About Qn Mary, don't know what to say, I am not a fan, particularly not about the headband.
DeleteThey all look wonderful and so jolly happy! I saw the picture of King Harald hugging King Frederik and was so moved. The ladies are elegant and understated. Love Crown Princess Mette Marit’s large hat with the Fendi dress.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos on a beautiful day! Everyone looks wonderful but I love the two-toned dress and sophisticated hat combo on MM. Mary looks nice but that hat is a little fussy to me.
ReplyDeleteThe only negative fashion comment from me is Queen Mary’s hat.
DeleteWhen I see it and the hat she wore for the visit to Sweden, I instantly get flashes of the Queen Mum.
Photo N° 12, third last, could be a ‘young’ Queen Mum sitting next to Queen Sonja .
Queen Mary´s jacket is very beautiful and the skirt is very summery but there was something about the whole look that bothered me. When i saw the indoors picture I realised it was the beige handbag. I like MMs Fendi dress but I think the hat is too wide. And I would love to see her with the hair up for a more sophisticated look.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos. CP Mette-Marit looks great today. The wide brimmed hat is perfect with the dress. Although it's red, I am not a fan of Queen Sonja's coat--there's something too fussy about the decoration on the front of it that jars for me. I like Queen Mary's dress, jacket and fascinator but her bag is like an old style shopping bag. I don't normally notice bags but this one seems wrong for the rest of the outfit.
ReplyDeleteNo Wow factor yet. I am ready to see Queen Mary bedazzle us as we know she is capable of doing. She is one of the most stylish royals and I have not been that impressed since her new role. However I know she has it in her and the best is yet to come!
ReplyDeleteThey all look smashing!! And I love Mette's Fendi dress, hat and I LOVE the GLOVES!! So elegant!! Q. Mary looks so pretty in her blue and white outfit but I keep hoping that she'll have something NEW and ELEGANT SOON!!
ReplyDeleteWhy buy anything new when you have our closet full of clothes. Heard about sustainable fashion?
DeleteLove all of them, so heart-warming and down-to-earth
ReplyDeleteHappy 20th wedding anniversary (porcelain) to the King and Queen of Denmark.
ReplyDeleteMy mother always said, it's a period in a marriage where a couple need to be careful.
Porcelain breaks easy 🙄
Just like the visit to Sweden: Too much pomp, much ado about nothing. Wasting taxpayers' money. Monarchies have modernized, fortunately, so what is all this about? Sarah
ReplyDeleteI applaud QM views & actions on sustainability in fashion. She happily re-wears or re-designs items that she has in her closet, giving them a new lease of life.
ReplyDeleteI believe QM is wearing her Erdem dress under the cream jacket, which she wore when TM’s last visited Denmark.
I love QS ensemble,very unique.
CPMM lovely dress and hat.Though I would have liked her hair up.
Overall we’re off to a great start. Can’t wait to see what QM wears for tonight’s gala.
Lowri
Queen Mary looks beautifully attired, elegant outfit, wonderful accessories and subtle but gorgeous jewels. Her brooch is interesting, petite brooch diamonds and one small ruby, up close its stunning.
ReplyDeleteI don't like the outfit Queen Sonja is wearing nor her choice in jewels, regardless of my tastes she looks very elegant. The Royal men look wonderful in uniform.
Norway here we come, here we are. Mary looks stunning MM should have worn a smaller hat, OMO I think it would have looked better. How nice of Sonja to show the Danish colors. IA's green dress looks nice. css
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks great, and I love to see Mary repeating many of my favorite pieces in her closet. I don't even remember how many times she's worn this fascinator and I'm always happy to see it, just love it./Grace
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to Queen Mary? She always looked elegant and classy but since she is Queen her style changed. Love MM Fendi dress classy and stylish
ReplyDeleteI'm a little dumbfounded can't see what's wrong with Mary's Ralph Lauren blazer and her Erdem skirt. She's dressed according to fashion in styles we all use. Just cheaper brands 😉
ReplyDeleteQueen Mary looks fabulous! Love the whole outfit--and the fascinator is the perfect way to top off her look. I am also so happy to see the earrings she is wearing--a pair gifted to Queen Margrethe from the NRF in which one earring symbolizes Norway and the other symbolizes Denmark using diamonds, sapphires, and rubies. CPM-M looks very pretty and elegant in her Fendi dress and big white hat. In fact, I feel like this is the best she has looked in a long time. Everything about the dress and hat really suits her. Queen Sonja not wearing my favorite coat--I don't know why I'm not fan but I'm not. However, her hat is great. How wonderful to see Princess Astrid join in and I love her blue and white dress as well as her boater hat. Of course, the men all look so handsome in their uniforms.
