United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Filippo Grandi is making a working visit to Denmark. Queen Mary of Denmark received Filippo Grandi in Frederik VIII's Palace at Amalienborg. At the meeting, Filippo Grandi gave information on UN's challenging work to protect the lives and rights of the world's refugees.
UN's efforts to improve the conditions of women and girls in humanitarian crises, and the importance of climate change for vulnerable local communities were other topics discussed. Denmark's ambassador at the United Nations mission in Geneva, Ib Petersen, was also present at the meeting. Queen Mary is patron of The Danish Refugee Council.
