Queen Mary looks beautiful in this dress! I love the fabric and the design. Not sure if this is embroidery or painted silk but it is gorgeous.

Dear anonymous, is it you who asks this same question every time someone wears a dark colour? In Europe black is always seen as elegant, especially as evening wear, and all colours are welcome all year. Is black illegal during spring in your country? - Grace

Oh yes and in two weeks there will be snow and Christmas is knocking on the door. Any other stupid and nasty questions?
What a lovely dress, beautifully embroided.

Since the issue of wearing black has been addressed on this forum dozens and dozens of times, it seems the issue may be with your memory. Perhaps a visit to your physician is in order.

As a Scandinavian I can tell I have used black dresses twice this week. You see we use all the colours of the palett and yes, we use black even in the summer. We still follow Cocos advice 😉

One of ETRO's better dresses but much too dark for a sunny day.

The dress is gorgeous and in fact suits a symphonic music festival/performance

Ignoring the "too dark for a sunny day comment", one can see that the sun is setting and this is an evening performance.

They say that their designs come partly from Indian inspiration symbolising fortune and fertility,

I find this whole look dull just as I did when she wore the plum coloured outfit . Mainly it is because of her hair hanging straight down almost in front of her face, It looks almost as if she is wearing a hoodie. Hair up, half up or at lest back from the face will give a better definition of dress

  10. This would have to be one of the loveliest day dresses I have seen in a long time. The design and various colors used within the embroidery (I think its embroidered, could be painted?) is perfectly balanced and combines well together. I'm not sure if the background is black or brown, regardless the backdrop of dark shade of color works well with the overall look. The small blue clutch is a clever addition, drawing out the flecks of blue in the dress. I think her shoes are blue as well, by the look of the last photo of her. Not sure what earrings she is wearing, but overall a beautiful elegant look.

  11. C'est une robe au joli décolleté en V mais en cette période chaude, j'aurais bien choisi un fond de couleur plus estival ; Mary est quand même ravissante !

I love Etro dresses but in this case, i feel that the black drowns out all the beautiful colours on the dress. They needed to be just a shade brighter. Otherwise the cut, flow and neckline of the dress are superb.

  15. My take on Queen Mary's black dress is that when you CRITICIZE her you are at least giving Princess Charlene a break for wearing black!
