On May 28, 2024, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway held a reception for honorary consuls at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Norway has a network of honorary consulates-general and honorary consulates all over the world that assist Norwegians when needed. These consulates are subordinate to the Norwegian embassy in the country concerned and assist the Norwegian authorities if necessary.

An honorary consul is unpaid and his/her main task is to provide advice, help and protection for their own citizens vis-à-vis the authorities, institutions and persons within the consulate's official district. It is a tradition for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to invite Norwegian consuls to Norway, and this year, there were honorary consuls from Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

  1. I like the style of the dress but the pattern is similar to several of my nighties.

A slipdress would have been in its place aswell, as the undergarments are showing in picture 4

This is a nice summer look. Nice colours. MM looks gorgeous. I would only change one thing. I'm not a fan of bow or draw string neckline.

With Louboutin heels one should not wear a dress that looks like an old fashion nightie.

      What a rude comment !!

I don't consider that a rude comment. The general consensus here is that this is a granny/nightie looking dress. I agree. My immediate thought was that the Louboutins looked off with it. Louboutin red bottoms make a statement, and this dress needed a more subtle shoe.

The comment is not rude, its a point of view

Definately not rude, but a very correct statement. A beautiful nighty - but… yes… still a grandma night gown. With Louboutins… 😱

    5. We all, well, almost all, have had the same reaction to this dress, it's a nightgown. The shape and fabric are not doing her any favors.

Thx to the people on this blog who think the same as me. There is one thing I do not agree with, being a grandma of more than 70 years old myself, I have never worn such a nightie. That is why I called it an old fashion nightie.

Usually I enjoy MM's fashion choices. Today, I have to wonder why she wore something I would wear such a plain looking frock with a bedtime vibe. She is lovely as ever, just an odd choice.

I like the coolness and simplicity of this Spring dress on MM. Her shoes and bracelet pick up the colours in the floral print, which is nice.

Looks like we’re in for another summer of small florals from the Scandinavian royals.

Lovely dress. I feel that if the collar was left open it would present better. In picture 2 it is the first time I see her resemblance to her mother. Very attractive lady.

  13. I like the outline of this dress, even the necktie, but the pattern of the fabric as others have mentioned resembles a nightie to me. I don't like the color of her shoes, a splash of color drawn from one of the floral colors I feel would have been nicer.

Such as the pink shoe from the previous day.

I love this dress except for the bow at the neck--a simple jewel neckline would look better. I understand the nightie comment regarding the fabric but I like this one. I am not a fan of large floral prints so something small like this is more to my personal taste. Also, the fit of the dress is a bit off--the fabric is pulling rather oddly under the bust-line. I love how she carried through with the turquoise again--its perfect for the blue in the fabric. How I wish she had chosen to wear the pink heels with this dress as they would have been perfect. M-M looks beautiful here!

Wow! Lovely dress on the Crown Princess. Her nude heels pair very well with this dress. I would have prefered if she had gone for one of the deeper colours in her dress for her clutch, but this one works too.

Don’t particularly like these floral dresses but will never complain about them again. Currently visiting Norway where they do not always have great weather, however, when lovely days arrive out come all the flowered dresses. Perhaps a tribute and a hope for spring and better weather. My POV is that this a cultural thing and I’m fine with it.

Happy to see her again. Some of her dresses look like nightgowns, or close to it, css
