On the evening of the second day of their state visit to Belgium, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg hosted a concert and reception in honor of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium at the Flagey Cultural Centre in Brussels.
The "Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra" gave the concert, by performing pieces from Luxembourgian composer Ivan Boumans and George Gershwin, with Wayne Marshall as conductor and pianist. Members of the Belgian Royal Family were also present.

Superb looking QM; the dress fits like a glove. This is a model she should wear more often. Minor quibble at my end is that maybe the hairdo should have been different. I don't know exactly how, but to me the way it's done now doen't work in combination with the dress.
ReplyDeleteGDMT looks stunning as well, but either she shouldn't wear a stole or have it up a little bit higher.
Two different styles but both smashing
ReplyDeleteStunningly beautiful dress on beautiful Queen Mathilde. This is a very elegant slim style that fits her very well.
ReplyDeleteI like the floral halter neck dress GDMT is wearing. It looks fun and suits her well. She and the Grand Duke make a beautiful couple and the first picture with all the flowers looks so good.
I agree!
DeleteDamsel Dragonfly
I agree 100%. Both looks fantastic and a huge improvement for GD Maria Theresa from the previous evening event. . She looks lovely here. Queen Mathilde is magnificent.
DeleteVery elegant dress on queen Mathilde !! Beautiful !!
ReplyDeleteWonderful dress for Qn Mathilde
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful dresses BUT GDMT is too diminuitive to carry off such a full skirt, and the constant need to wear a stole (presumably to cover her upper arms) spoils the effect. QM looks lovely but the dress skims her waist making it into a column dress which is not as attractive as the way it is worn on the model where it has more of a waist.
ReplyDeleteI agree.

@ Azalea and Stephanie
DeleteYou are both just pretending the contrary of what everybody else say about Queen Mathilde's dress. Marking the waist is something Queen Mathilde must avoid otherwise you all say that her waist is too high. This is why she must avoid belts too, even small belts. When she is moving you can still see her waist so no problem.
Queen Mathilde saved the best for last. The best outfit she wore until now during the state visit. The earrings are beautiful too in combination with the white dress. Dries Van Noten is one of the better designers for the queen. Her classic hair up do, she often wears on evening events is beautiful. The men are very attractive too in their tuxedo.
ReplyDeleteMarie Teresa's dress is lovely, but personally I don't like flowers on a black underground. The dress has a good fitting. She can wear this dress again on a very warm summer evening for another event when evening dresses are the dress code.
Q.M. again in a stunning dress!
ReplyDeleteQuite impressive!
M.Th. urgently needs another advisor: she choose nearly always clothes that are not good for her shape.
Stunning Mathilde!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the pattern on MT's gown but in my humble opinion there is a bit too much skin showing for a woman of a certain age.
ReplyDeleteThe design of Mathilde's dress is lovely but perhaps the color is a bit bridal like.
Ooh Cate, I see the opposite: that the older we get the more we should do what makes us feel beautiful. Daintily showing a little extra skin in a beautiful gown might not be something we want to do at age 90, so we should absolutely do it at age 68 if we feel to. I say, go for it, Maria Teresa! (Grace)
Delete@Cate and Anon. 14:56
DeleteIt all depends on the woman. Some have a beautiful skin with not much wrinkles other have an old skin at the age of 50. Up to the person in which gown she feels comfortable. GD Maria Teresa has a toned skin, so I think she can show a little extra skin, but on a hot summer night it looks better than on a rainy and cold day. It ain't Spring yet.
Wow! Queen Mathilde looks so beautiful in the DVN dress. This is so more flattering. It drapes beautifully on her frame. Stunning.
ReplyDeleteGDMT- I like that she’s happy to push the envelope when it comes to fashion.
Lowri.
@Lowri.
DeleteAgree. GDMT "pushes the envelope" or she tries hard but it doesn't always work.
She often just finishes up getting an E for effort, nothing more.
Stunning - all around !!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of either of the dresses, but the men are handsome.
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look lovely! Mathilde a tall, elegant column of white, and MT a fun firecracker in a burst of floral colour and a flash of golden skin. Their gowns reflect their personalities perfectly, and their respectively dapper husbands, dressed in elegantly fitting formal wear round out a very attractive royal foursome enjoying an evening together. Very nice.
ReplyDelete- Anon 9:13
Yes, I agree…each lady has chosen well. It’s great to see how their personalities shine through. (V.M.)
DeleteTotally agree on all counts.
DeleteAmazing look on Mathilde. MT is true to her Caribbean roots, this is a beautiful dress and it fits her well.

ReplyDeleteWow! Incredible looks for them both!
ReplyDeleteQM a vision in white. GDMT love this dress on her, and the cape did a great job to cover her arms and give an hour glass figure. What I see in these picture are two gentlemen who truly adore their wives and enjoy being in their company
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous 17:47
DeleteThat is what I see too. I think there is much jealousy here on this blog. I am happy for Queen Mathilde and GD Maria Teresa they deserve their gentlemen husbands. And I know their husbands (at least of king Philippe, he said so himself) are continuing to do everything that is in their power to keep their wives and children happy and that they are proud of their children and wish them to be happy. King Philippe always wished to have a family like he has now, something he didn't had when he was a kid.
The Grand Duchess’s height is not suitable for this dress.
ReplyDeleteTo everyone saying Maria Teresa's wardrobe choices are not suitable due to her height, what is suitable? She can wear anything that is cut for a petite frame. Often, her mistake is shortening the length and calling it a day. She just needs to learn to resize the entire garment. Styles are not limited, as long as they are in proportion.
ReplyDeleteDuchess Maria's dress looks pretty;but the halter style top is not flattering;she is at a state function ,not a beach party.Mathilde's dress is a bit mummsy;I like the detail on the dress but not the style.I do like all the flowers that line the way to the function centre(Tara)
ReplyDeleteA bit mummsy ! Well she is a mum of 4 and she is not 20 anymore.
DeleteLove the Oscar de la Renta floral dress.
DeleteBut it looks like the designer ran out of ideas when he/she got to the top.
Gives me vibes of the top of a swimming costume.
Grand Duke Henri looks well attired as does King Philippe. GD MT looks spectacular, love her gown. Queen Mathilde looks sensational. Her white gown, looks so elegant.
ReplyDeleteI see Prince Laurent was there too (last picture next to GD Maria Teresa), but not Princess Claire.
ReplyDelete@anonymous 13:32 'pretending the contrary' what does that mean? I have never said QM's waist is too high. What I said was the dress skimmed her body and made the dress less attractive than the way intended on the model. You should read before commenting and perhaps not hide behind anonymous.
ReplyDelete@ Azalea 18:30
DeleteThat means that the majority of the comments are positive. The model like most models is thinner than Queen Mathilde. Queen Mathilde must avoid that the accent is on her waist, that is why a "column" dress (I call it a straight dress) is ideal for her. What is the difference between a nick name and anonymous ? Answer = none.
@no name :Anonyous 23:32
DeleteDon't agree with you about "no difference between a nick name and anonymous". Answer = yes there is.
@deadeggs
DeleteExplain to me please ?

What a great gown from Mathilde, she looks stunning. MT's gown is very nice, but I think it would have looked better on a younger person? her hairdo and makeup look very natural. css
ReplyDelete@anonymous 23:32. I did not criticise QM I actually said she looked lovely but I preferred the shape of the dress on the model - read before commenting. The difference between a nickname and anonymous - 1. Nothing is to be published if anonymous. - so states Helen 2. A name/ nickname shows ownership of one's comments 3. Being 'Anonymous ' does neither.
ReplyDeleteWhy does Helen publish the anonymous then ?
DeleteI think that perhaps Helen is limited, for technical reasons, with the site from culling out the anonymouses from the nicknames.
DeleteShe probably has to do it manually which would be time consuming.
On another site that I visit, they will only accept your comment with a nickname. But when you post a comment, it is on average 3 days before it appears amongst the comments.
I’m sure there is a good reason why the anonymouses get through on NewMyRoyals.
Wow! Commenting a little late, but wow. The ladies look beautiful in different styles and the men (cousins) look sharp. Christine
