On Thursday, April 25, Queen Maxima met with the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Bola Tinubu, at Huis ten Bosch Palace in The Hague as part of his working visit to the Netherlands. The Queen and President Bola Tinubu spoke about improvements made relating to financial inclusion and financial health in Nigeria.
This meeting underscored a continued commitment to enhancing accessible financial services in Nigeria. Queen Maxima visited the country in 2012 and 2017 in her United Nations role to champion vital inclusive finance issues.

I love the color of the pantsuit but the hair is not good enough to be greeting a head of state.
ReplyDeleteThe dog looks very cute.
You know,...@ Cate, I think that Mr Bola Tinubu can see beyond the surface.
DeleteHe is surely more than happy and honoured to meet with such a clever and skillful Queen .
He certainly knows that good cooperation between countries at all levels including efforts aiming at financial inclusion are much more valuable than a lady's perfectly coiffed hair.
Kudos to President Tinubu.
Oh, by the way, Q.Maxima looks lovely , smart and professional.

ReplyDeleteSuit is a pretty color but looks too large and ill fitting.
ReplyDeleteThe turquoise pant suit is lovely. Mambo is cute and is staying close to Queen Maxima. The white flower arrangements are lovely too.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but this hair is unworthy for a Queen on official duty.
ReplyDeleteJust when you think her hair cannot look worse....and then it does.

Much headway has been done from " ratty" to unworthy hair, let's be honest, @ Anonymous at 14:24!
DeleteAu contraire … I actually really appreciate that she doesn’t feel the need to be perfect each day. Quite reflective of the average Dutch woman. For important occasions she has her hair professionally and perfectly styled; in between she drags a comb through it before she runs out the door. I love this! The need for perfection suits some and not others, and for her we know she has the money if she chose perfect coiffing - but she doesn’t - so good on her eh? When you’re the queen you get to set the standard. (Grace)
DeleteIs this the official call for "helmet hair"? What do you expect? Do you want to pay for the daily hairdresser? If I was one of the taxpaying citizens, I would be glad to have a monarchy that doesn't pay for an in-house salon. That ship has sailed. Maxima has so many positive attributes, why be obsessed with her hair? Some of you have too much time on your hands.
DeleteOther queens (Letizia, Mary, Matilda) set a much better standard. As long as Maxima continues to have messy, unhealthy looking hair some of us will continue to call it out, and no we do not have too much time on our hands. Commenting takes very little time.
DeleteMrs B
@Mrs B Maxima's hair has reached the point of obsession. Obsessions consume more than a moment of one's time, they live rent free in one's mind. She can look absolutely perfect at a state dinner and people commenting feel compelled to mention that her hair DOESN'T look terrible for once. That, Mrs B, is an obsession with a head of hair. The three queens you mention, Letizia, Mary, and Mathilde, all have naturally thick hair that is easy to style. They have great outcomes because of that. If any of them ends up having changes in their lives such as hormones, illness, or simply age, that leaves them with half the volume of hair they once had, will you attack them like you attack Maxima? Maxima's hair was not always like this, you know. No one knows the cause of the change to her hair, but the ridicule flows freely as if she does it deliberately. You must know she is aware of how her hair looks and how quickly it goes from looking brushed to wind blown when someone in the back of the room sneezes. The difference between Maxima and some of the people here is that she moves along and does her work with enthusiasm, and others here make a choice to see nothing more than some hair.
DeleteI love the colour and style of this suit but I’m wondering if the jacket is too large? It seems to be a closer fit on the model. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteLovely suit, excellent colour.
ReplyDeleteThe general atmosphere of the meeting looks to be in sync for an informal drop-in to one's house during a working visit.

The tops cleavage is way to low for such a meeting ... the pant suit is a good look ...
ReplyDeleteIt may be my eyesight but I can’t see any sign of cleavage in either photo!
DeleteI agree with @14:24 and @ 14:52. I really do not understand why one would dress so over the top when visiting events for immigrants and refugees yet when hosting a Head of State (even if it is 'informal') can't be bothered to complete her outfit with neat hair, no matter how 'clever or skilled' one may think Maxima is!
ReplyDeleteWell said
DeleteShe looks more serious business for meeting a head of State. No fuss. For charity visits, they invite a Queen, she often shows up looking every inch a Queen. I'd be thrilled if she showed up dressed to the nines wearing major jewelry!
DeleteCinci
I cannot imagine your comments if she had worn the outfit of yesterday for this meeting, including the hat
DeleteThe background showing palace decor in these pictures is very interesting to look at.

I love those large paintings in the back.

My comment was that it’s horrible and messy. But clearly, only positive comments are allowed.

DeleteI am of the same opinion but my comment was removed, I think it was found to be to rude….
What an ugly messy room.
ReplyDeleteYou could apply for a job as a maid and tidy up the room.
DeleteThe art panels on the wall don’t go with the furniture. I’m sensing a theme. Wink.
ReplyDeleteBlue outfit is too large, ill fitting and her hair! Not a good way to receive ahead of state.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the minority here, I actually like both the outfit and the Queen's hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteT
what a total messy room, very cluttered, would hate to clean all that 'stuff'.
ReplyDeleteLovely suit, nice color too, the top a different color may stood out a bit more. The President travels a long distance. css
ReplyDeleteQ. Maxima looks business like and professional. Love the color of this pantsuit, suits her well.
