On April 22, 2024, Queen Mathilde of Belgium attended the opening of the 5th World Cocoa Conference held at Square Brussels Convention Center. In her capacity as Advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, the Queen gave a speech at the opening ceremony. The conference aims to serve as a tool to identify the economic, social, and environmental challenges of the cocoa sector, to assess the efficiency of stakeholders’ initiatives to address these issues, and to adapt future strategies.
DRIES VAN NOTEN Doromos Midi Dress
I love the colors and pattern in this dress.Short sleeves, so it must be warming up in Belgium.
ReplyDeleteWell, although I like the dress and it's a good fit, I feel it's a somewhat weird choice considering the cold weather (10 C) in Belgium ... sometimes wearing a coat indoors and now when it's actually cold short sleeves?
ReplyDeleteThere has only be one or two warm days lately. The max. t° is not higher than 10°-12° C. In the morning it is mostly colder. At 10 a.m. it is warming up a bit but the wind makes it very cold. You cannot know the t° indoors or how queen Mathilde feels herself. When she kept her coat there must be a reason. The opening of today's conference was at 8:45. I assume the speech she had to give was rather early too.
DeleteThe dress by Dries Van Noten is a repeat, which she wore last year 2 or 3 times in autumn. Outside to go to the car she wears one of her capes. I think she knows why she wears which dress on which day. It is not of our concern.
Love your answer Anon 17:20. I get a little giggle when commenters say a Queen has chosen her clothes wrongly for the occasion or season: I think they really really know what they are doing and besides, it’s the Queen whose choices set the occasion and not the other way round ;-) (Grace)
DeleteAnonymous 14:49, In this blog you cannot make 'not positive' comments about Mathilde even if you are right... “Lesa maestà” 😉 Irene
Delete@Irene; thank you; I cannot but agree with your comment. My post starts with positives and others stumble over the fact that I question whether it's weather wise a logical choice ... indeed, never question QM's choices ....???

DeleteOne can say exactly the same about other royal ladies.
What make me laugh too is that some people write as if Queen Mathilde has to do all her visits by train or bus or on foot. There is always a car and chauffeur at her disposal to drive her where she has a visit to do. She can lay as much coats and/or capes in the car as she could need. There are no pictures yet of her arrival. I bet she wore one of her capes and took it off before going into the hall where she had to give the speech. She opened the conference.
In my comment there's no reference whatsoever to QM going outdoors with or without a coat/cape nor discussion on how she moves from one place to the other. My observation is that she wears short sleeves indoors while the weather (OUTDOORS) is like autumn/winter.
DeleteJ'aime beaucoup cette robe imprimée mais à mon avis, je ne peux pas dire que la ceinture qui semble en cuir convienne bien à la silhouette de Mathilde ; un modèle en tissu ton sur ton lui irait beaucoup mieux !
ReplyDeleteThe Queen should consider a blepharoplasty. No hate or aesthetic judgment in my comment, just a medical advice.
ReplyDeleteI do not ser her having a medical condition..or a need to preserve her health in that matter. I assume you mean a cosmetical advice..in that matter I think she should stay as she is!
DeleteIf it is not affecting her eye sight then no need for medical intervention. I didnt know that royals were not able to age naturally. Really this lady is a role model in class.
DeleteI hope she remains as she is. She is a beautiful lady and does not need surgery. I hope she embraces "aging gracefully".
DeleteA simple dress well chosen for the event and worn beautifully by QM.
ReplyDelete@17:24 why make such a comment, very personal and inappropriate - imo.
Mathilde devrait définitivement abandonner la ceinture. Surtout lorsqu’elle est de douleur contrastante comme ici.
