Queen Sonja´s dress is beautiful and it suits her well. I had not realised she is so small. Or perhaps this is just a trick of the camera angle

Remember Haakon is 1,93 cm 6'4 and Mette-Marit 1,78 cm 5'10 everyone would look small next to them.

You can see with the same sort of shoes that the Q is almost as high as MM. Here MM are in stiletto, and the Q has shorter heels. You also have the optical illusion effect.

Her son and daughter-in-law are both tall. Since Queen Sonja is not so young anymore, it is normal that she looks shorter and frailer than before.

    4. My thoughts too.
MM may appear extra tall because she is so close to the camera making the Queen look much shorter.

E' invece probabile siano molto alti i principi ereditari.
      Alti e splendidi.

LOL. :) I am 5'10" and one of my brothers is 6'4" and, yes, everyone does look small standing next to us. Heeehee. "Wow, you guys are tall." If only I had a dollar for every time I've heard that. :D And then there was our mother referring to him as her "baby boy" instead of as her "youngest son." I always loved the look on people's faces when she would say that. :) Priceless.

Yes, there should be an entire generation of very tall crowned heads including Prince George of Wales.

I don’t think that one should believe everything one sees on the internet. It says there at Haakon is 193 cm tall, but when standing next to Prince William he looks shorter than him. There are some pretty straight forward photos of them at the Palace in Oslo from 2018 that demonstrates that. And the internet says that William is 191 cm tall. So some or both of this information is incorrect.

If I’m not wrong the Crown prince is 183 cm tall and about 10 cm taller than his wife. A

19:08 remember we all get shorter by age. My self is 52 years old and I'm 2,5 cm about 1 inch shorter than I was when I was younger. So Haakon can have been 1,93. Don't understand the need for that argument.

To 07:57 - I’m not arguing. I’m merely stating that one shouldn’t believe everything one sees on the internet, and in this case regarding people who have never confirmed their own height publicly.

Btw, the Wales’ and the Crown Prince couple were photographed standing side by side last year, and the height difference doesn’t seem any different from 2018 when Haakon was (then) five years younger.

And to use your own argument, that people shrink as they get older…shouldn’t this mean that we have even less of a reason to believe everything we see on the internet? Because the ones responsible for writing stuff there aren’t able to update the info? ;)

Queen Sonja's dress is very lovely. Her modern golden jewelry matches perfectly the flowers in her dress. I don't like her shoes and stockings very much, but maybe she likes the shoes because she wears them every winter and they are probably very comfortable.

    1. The color of the shoes match the Queen' s lovely dress perfectly but I don't like the style either.

  3. Très jolie la robe imprimée fleurie de la reine ; comme toujours, elle a beaucoup de goût en choisissant ses bijoux. Ses chaussures paraissent confortables et pour les collants, ils sont d'une couleur que j'adore !

Like MM outfit. Have become a sucker for 50' skirt lately. Like the hight waist. Q and CP looks great also, not to keen on the Q stocking and shoes, but oh well.

Indeed, but one should never wear orders or medals with a Norwegian national costume, including the King’s Medal of Merit (no matter how well deserved and proud they are of this honor). KK

The Queen and MM both look very appropriate, but the real stars for me are the wonderful traditional outfits worn by the attendees being honoured. (V.M.)$

Nice dress from the Queen, not a fan of the heels. MM looks lovely. Nice to see the CP there representing his father the King. css

Queen Sonia has such a large presence I always forget how tiny she is. She looks lovely and the Crown Princess looks healthy. Not much to say about MMs style. It's her usual simplicity.
