Queen Margrethe of Denmark celebrates her 84th birthday today. On the occasion of the birthday, The Danish Royal Court has released new photos of the Queen. Margrethe is a member of the Danish royal family who reigned as Queen of Denmark from 14 January 1972 until her abdication on 14 January 2024. On January 14, in front of a Council of State at Christiansborg Palace, Queen Margrethe signed a Declaration of Abdication. She was succeeded by her elder son, Frederik, as King Frederik X.
Queen Margrethe of Denmark celebrated her birthday privately with her family at Fredensborg Castle today. Danish King Frederik, Queen Mary and Princess Benedikte attended the celebration of Queen Margrethe's 84th birthday at Fredensborg Castle. The royal family celebrated privately at Fredensborg Castle, a setting used for important events in the family such as weddings, silver wedding anniversaries and birthdays.
Great pictures of Queen Margrethe and the dress is very pretty. I am sure the large M broach is very special to her but I would have loved to see her wear the Daisy broach.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you, i love her famous daisy broach too!
DeleteWonderful photos of a lovely lady. I especially like the second photo! And the colour of her dress gives me some spring vibes. ;) I.P.
ReplyDeleteLovely dress, lovely color and her brooch and earrings are so well chosen.
ReplyDeleteNice dress in a lovely colour. It is not compulsory to wear a bra and I often do not at home, but I always do, if someone is taking a photo. And I think so should Margrethe. - Ellie
ReplyDelete… nah, not if you’re an 84 year old, a Scandinavian or a queen, and definitely not compulsory when you’re all 3! Margrethe looks wonderful. (Grace)
DeleteHow do you know she is not wearing a bra ? Older women sometimes cannot wear bra's which have a wire. They only can wear soft bra's with no wire. On top of that with all the troubles she had with her back etc... she had to wear probably, especially just after her operation, special underwear to support her back. Maybe she must still wear special supportive underwear. Think before you say things you cannot know for sure.
Delete"How do you know she is not wearing a bra ?"
DeleteExactly!
People kill me when they assume an older woman is not wearing a bra. I remember mention of this with the late Queen Elizabeth II. Regardless of what medical ailments a woman may, or may not have, when you get older "the girls" just naturally sag - even with an underwire or whatever. Sure, it's different from person to person and how physically fit and healthy you may (or may not) be but, it’s just a fact of nature and physiology; “the girls” head south!
We as a society have gotten so use to women augmenting their breast we're not use to, or accepting of, the appearance of a natural, mature, bust line. I'm going to say the same thing I posted to the comments about QE II; let’s see how perky *your* boobs are when you're 80 plus years old - if you're lucky enough to make it that far.
Anon 19:59. Thank you for your comment, these are words of wisdom and I agree with every single one. @Ellie, you can always be trusted to find fault with everybody. Do you live by the same standards? Is your appearance nothing but stellar? A little bit of common decency goes a long way.
DeleteSorry to butt in on the all important no bra conversation but I'd just like to wish Queen Margrethe a very happy 84th birthday.
DeleteI hope there are many more waiting for her to enjoy.
Again, sorry to butt in but I'll let you get back to the gravity and old age topic.
@ Deadeggs, you' re my myth, as always😁👍👏..
DeleteSorry , but I' d J
just like to bring in my favourite topic instead, you know I' m a bit naughty sometimes...
You see, I often happen to have a look in the mirror and think about strange things such as butt, buttocks, gravity and the like( I omit other synonyms) , gravity and I think to myself ...yes, it' s still alright, girl, gravity
hasn' t changed your... yet...
The bra topic is extremely worth being discussed ...so I asked my mirror for an answer again and It said ...girl, your decolletage is still smashing, gravity hasn' t affected it yet...
That damn ego of mine, you see😁😉👋
You know P. the original, sometimes when I go past a mirror I yell “yikes” and have to tell myself to calm down.
DeleteAnd then I remind myself that it’s only me that I’m seeing in the mirror.
Know what I mean?
@ Deadeggs
DeleteYes, got it, of course.
I don't think this dress is very attractive but I bet Her Majesty does not care and I love that about her! She is a very admirable human and I love everything she does.
ReplyDeleteNice spring colored dress. Someone else brought up the topic, so... The upper torso/chest area changes as a person ages, there should be (and are) bras designed for senior women. The chest cavity increases in diameter and circumference over the decades, yet the body fat dissipates. Some people don't want to drop everything and fuss over themselves after they've spent decades caring for others. Caroline
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Queen Margrethe!!! She looks relaxed and wonderful--and I love her in this soft pink/lavender dress. I'm so glad she celebrated her birthday with her family.

To anonymous 15:42, I find your comment rude, I regret that you made such a negative comment about Queen Margrethe breast. Even Queen Elizabeth in her later years had the same problem, it is a fact of aging.

I agree, she looks very comfortable and unencumbered in a nice dress.

ReplyDeleteRavie de voir que la reine Margrethe a l'air décontractée ; la nuance douce violet pastel de sa robe lui va à ravir. Bon et joyeux anniversaire à elle !
Great looking 84 year old Queen. Like this color on her, very nice dress. Happy Birthday to Q Margrete of Denmark. Queen Mary looks stunning. The blue coat is beautiful. css
ReplyDeleteWow, that dress is so beautiful on Queen Margrete. Her brooch is lovely too - just my style. I'm glad she is living her life well post retirement, she has earned it.
ReplyDeleteT
Stunning lady ( with a bra or not😆)
ReplyDeleteI' m overjoyed to see again one of my favourite Queens ever, looking so smiling and doing well.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday, Madame, I miss you a lot.
Madame, please, never forget people love you! x
