On March 15, King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima and Princess Beatrix participated in the 2024 NLdoet, the largest volunteer campaign in the Netherlands. NLdoet is organized for the 20th time this year by The Oranje Fonds, of which the King and Queen are patrons. In the afternoon, the King and Queen volunteered in a kitchen in Badhoevedorp.
Princess Beatrix volunteered with the care of the animals, the pre-sowing for the school gardens, and the cleaning of woodwork on a city farm in Utrech.
At more than 6,700 places in the Netherlands, everyone can get acquainted with volunteer work in an accessible way in order to do something for other people. For example, by helping to renovate the community center, assisting at a Food Bank location or undertaking activities with the elderly.
Désolée, je dis non et non ; dès la première photo, le manteau de Maxima me fait presque penser à une robe de chambre ou un peignoir de bain ; j'aime beaucoup ses cheveux ramenés en chignon !
ReplyDeleteChère Achard62, I also said no at first photo … but as I studied the event and her with the white apron serving, I said oh yes, how fabulous to have gone in such a matching colour to the event, in essence she’s gone in a costume to be a colourful part of the event and I think she’s fabulous. - AnneLise
DeleteYes, her coat is a bit too colourful, although it goes well with her yellow pullover and trousers. She can wear such things - her outgoing, optimistic nature permits it. I think the Dutch royal family is down to earth, just look at the pictures showing the former queen Beatrix working in an urban farm or Maxima and her husband preparing delicious food for marginalised people and serving it to them.
ReplyDeleteYes in The Netherlands the royals are not afraid to use their hands or to get dirty (and without gloves). They always have been like that.
DeleteMaxima is back! Costume party commencing
ReplyDeleteI think that the coat will be polarizing.
ReplyDeleteKind of looks like a fancy dressing gown to me and the color clashes with the mustard clothes underneath.
Another good hair day.
Perhaps Max has been reading our comments.
I genuinely thought it was pyjamas and dressing gown when I saw the first photo. Perhaps the coat would have been wearable with black, or some other neutral colour underneath. As it is it's awful. The yellow outfit underneath is okay without the coat and as you say, Cate, it's a good hair day.
DeleteAgree with Annie!
DeleteI thought the same.I can’t imagine any other royal lady having the personality to match such a colourful ensemble, except Maxima.
DeleteQ. Maxima and K. Willem and P. Beatrix are always up for anything. Looks like they had lots of fun!! Q. Maxima is so beautiful and her smile lights up a room!! Good for them! I bet the people they helped and served enjoyed the event too!!
ReplyDeleteMy eyes are hurting but it's Maxima, I'll forgive her. Actually the coat looks great with black pants which the model is wearing. The hair and smile look good.
ReplyDeleteO.H. !!!
ReplyDeleteNo,and no to this outfit, it looks terrible.
ReplyDeletemjt
I don´t like this. The coat looks like a bathrobe especially the way she wrapped it around her. Yellow is a very strong colour and when used on a whole outfit like this it is almost hurtful to the eyes.
ReplyDeleteThis is so ugly…..
ReplyDeleteElisabeth
Always a delight to see the Queen, but those wide leg pants doesn’t look good on anyone. Her smile is radiant as always.
ReplyDeleteMax to the max, fly that red and yellow, the King and Pss B are terrific too! DLH
ReplyDeleteWords defeat me
ReplyDeleteThis coat reminds me of a bathrobe. Maxima’s outfit does match the fruit skewers. I like what I can see of her necklace.

Thanks Royal Watcher.
DeleteI’d been searching for something positive to say but after three mugs of tea, I was still staring into space.
Then I read your comment and, thank heavens, I found the answer.
Yes, Queen Max’s combo matches the fruit skewers on the table (photo N°3 and N°4).
p.s. Dear Queen Max, please don’t change.
@deadeggs - I am laughing!

I join the club, No to the coat, be it Oscar de la Renta. And no as well to the pullover and trousers ... I appreciate the event and the smile.
ReplyDeleteI think it's a lovely coat. The raspberry red colour is beautiful and the embroidery/appliqué is tasteful. Yes, it is loose style coat not a fitted style, but this is perfect for a tall, vibrant person like Maxima, who can pull off wearing such a garment with ease, and she does. I also like that she's wearing the coat at a shorter length than the model.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow outfit underneath is like a streak of sunshine and it pairs well with the raspberry red, with a bit showing at the neck and down at the hem. What I don't like are the wide trousers yet again. Thankfully the coat hides them when worn together.

The coat is smashing! But only when worne with very quiet colours, now it is a clowns outfit
Aggie
DeleteIs Q. Maxima going to pajama party??
ReplyDeleteGoodness! My late mother had a bathrobe like this!
ReplyDeleteBathrobe alert, at least the hair is nice, though her pants in mustard are horrible, just as horrible was the remark the semi-rude remark the King made about the Princess of Wales, Catherine.
ReplyDeleteI read about his comment and couldn't believe what I read. A reigning king making fun of a future Queen consort. Seriously? And the funny thing is, most photos from the dutch family are highly edited. He has fallen miles in my estimation with this unnecessary snarky remark.
DeleteI love this coat! I get that lots of people won't like it but I think its great. I like it styled with the black trousers as shown on the model but I also like Queen Maxima's take with the bright yellow--it certainly highlights the parts of the floral design. As for Maxima--she looks wonderful today. Good colors, simple jewelry (perfect for the occasion), great hair and makeup--well done! Princess Beatrix is perfectly turned out for her outdoor event. What I like the best--the Dutch royals are having a wonderful time, their joy with these events are so evident. I love this project and think its wonderful that every year members of the DRF are active participants.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Yet paired with other trousers, dark bleu or black would make it better.
DeleteTasteless outfit.

Ugly ! Luckily, ridicule does not kill.
What a lovely coat! nicholas@ttyan.ru
ReplyDeleteI just love those colours, absolutely wonderful! And they seem to have had a great time too!
ReplyDelete-B.
Love Queen M's coat. The yellow set is great for the event, though slightly less puddly pants would have been nice. Princess B's wardrobe for outdoor event was just right.
ReplyDeleteI dislike the coat and pants. Too much always means Maxima, look at me.
ReplyDeleteI was too distracted by the bare hands on most of the pictured food preparers to pay attention to clothes. Oh, dear.
ReplyDeleteIn the Netherlands people are washing their hands before they touch food and also multiple times while preparing food.
DeleteIn the food industry people are wearing gloves and head covering.
This yearly event is the same as preparing food at home. I wash my hands several times when preparing dinner or lunch or breakfast.
It does indeed look like a bathrobe, the outfit underneath, I don't like the color of at all, very jarring. Regardless she looks in her element and happy.
ReplyDeleteMaxima = too much. It seems she is always trying to stand out, show off that she is a Queen. Too bad she fails miserably most of the time (hair a mess), but always dressed in the best and usually the most outlandish outfits she can find. Nice smile though.
ReplyDeleteShe is the Queen after all.
DeleteHer confidence is inspiring.
Too colourful, too long, and yet she manages to look elegant in it.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to see the Duch RF out and about. This coat is nice color wise, but it looks like a fancy robe, at least to me sorry. And way too much yellow. Maxima likes loud colors. css
ReplyDeleteI do not think this is a good look. Too much mustard yellow to begin with and then the red coat that reminds me of a bathrobe.
ReplyDeleteRenee
Gorgeous! And Totally Maxima!
ReplyDeleteFabulous indeed, only Maxima could pull this off
DeletePetra
Yes, she's a hard worker, yes, she smiles a lot, and yes, she's Maxima. But she looks ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteO.K. Queen Max is not perfect but we need people like her in today's world.
