King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark hosted a dinner in honour of officers of the Armed Forces, the Air Forces and National Emergency Management Agency, who have received a badge of honour last year. The officers were invited to the dinner and celebration ceremony at Frederik VIII's Palace. Queen Margrethe accompanied the King and Queen at the dinner.

On his birthday, 11 March 1953, King Frederik IX of Denmark instituted the badge of honor of the Armed Forces and the Air Force in parallel with the badge of honor of the Navy. The badge of honor dinner is since then held annually on the day of the establishment on 11 March.

Mary used to have a pointy chin. This facial feature has been completely transformed into a much more balanced and very rounded chin. Almost like she went from having a long face shape to a round one. Remarkable.

Well, girls, lets just look at the mirror. :-) I think most of us have rounder faces / less pointy chins nowadays than we used to have during our younger years. Plus the angle of the photo and the lighting can alter the look of one's face quite a lot too. As for Kate, she didn't just change the lighting of her photo (which would be a normal and accepted part of developing and editing a photo), she altered the photo by adding elements from several different photographs and may have also erased some elements.

It looks like Queen Mary is copying Duchess Catherine by wearing a look-a-like military uniform. It seems that queens, princesses, etc... who never did military service are very keen on wearing an outfit like this. I never saw Queen Margrethe doing this and she was a reigning Queen.

It IS a military uniform jacket! It’s quite traditional for royals over the millenia to be granted the highest military positions. - AnneLise

It has been explained before: female officers in the danish forces wanted a new galla uniform. Queen Mary as crownprincess helped design it with several other women. It would be very strange, if she did not wear it and she has to my knowledge worn it at every dinner on 11 of march since it was introduced. Queen Margrethe has on the other hand never worn uniforms as a queen. That must be a personal choice of both of them.

Queen Mary undergone basic and follow up training in the danish home guard so she is awarded as captain and honorary guard does she is allowed to use this uniform gala.take note that this is a uniform gala co-designed by mary with the other lady in the danish arm forces not the same as military like dress which kate wears. And to tell frankly mary first became a member of danish royal family before kate became a member of a uk royal family.

Queen Mary copying Catherine?? That was one of the dumbest comments I've ever heard. Mary has her own regal and imbeccable style. It's true that Mary, Letizia and Catherine have a beautiful figur and almost everything suits them. As for uniforms, what is customary in the country is used. (Elina)

A valid point. I was thinking the same - why did media agencies stop Catherine’s photo this week when it is extremely rare these days for any media photo to not be edited prior to publishing? It may be new caution around AI generated photos?, but touch ups and major photoshopping have been used for decades, especially in portraits of the famous - AnneLise

When you take a digital photo, most professionals take it in an uncompressed and unprocessed RAW format, which has to be postprocessed and developed in a photo editing program and exported in another format. Only then it can be printed or shown in the web. Most photographers use Adobe's Lightroom and/or Photoshop programs for this, but there are other similar although less known programs too. In the developing and editing process you set the white balance, make necessary adjustments to lighting, contrast, color saturation etc. That is an accepted procedure for documentary photographs in the news agencies or for nature photos in photo competitions. However, it's a totally different matter when you begin to alter the photo by adding or removing elements or combining several photos without mentioning it outright in the caption, as Kate did. And I think it's good that the news agencies have such strict rules about it, so that we know that we can trust the photos we see in the newspapers to be unaltered.

It was unfortunate that Kate wasn't advised against publishing an altered photo, especially now when rumors and conspiracy theories about her health abound in the internet. If she wanted to show the world that everything is fine, she should have let the alterations undone.

The photograph of Mary and Frederik is beautiful. They make a very good looking King and Queen. It is also very nice to see Queen Margarethe present.. gradually retreating from the spotlight but still mindful of honoring the people she worked with before. Her midnight blue gown is gorgeous. And finally, what a beautiful table. I've seen close-ups of the floral arrangements and the place settings on another site and they are stunning. The colours of the flowers are amazing.

The big to-do over Catherine's photo editing is nothing. Rachel and Henry posted a Christmas photo with their son where Rachel is in sharp focus, Henry is blurry (same distance from the camera) with the little boy in front. Not a thing was said. Editing is called editing for a reason. Its done in all professional/non professional photos/magazines/books/movies/adverts etc. Here, Mary's face is smooth as can be, her husband is natural faced, the Queen sitting in the chair is natural face/coloured. No one throws a hissy fit over this, its just (sadly) a part of life.

Hello Anonymous who asked about Rachel. That’s Meghan’s legal first name, the one Queen Elizabeth apparently used in the formal marriage notices from the palace. I think when people use that name for her now they’re making a little dig at her for being someone who frequently uses the word “authenticity” in speeches, interviews and podcasts… but perhaps isn’t really (Grace)

Not a wrinkle, hair is too wispy on the sides and not the same on each side. Her fingers do not look normal....Oh no, I think someone edited something. Time to retract all pics and demand explanation, OR, realize that MANY pics of royals undergo editing, changes, or whatever word you want to use. Oh, and Mary looks great here.

People on this blogg is see through. The Walses artificial patchwork of a photo hurt so now they kick in all directions. Give it a rest no one complains if they use a little photoshopping, but what the Walses did was not photoshopping. It was a constructed photo of many, so manipulated that not any news organization could use it.

No 5:25 no other royal has conducted a photo of many to make a new one. A real fake one. They use photoshopping of a real photo yes, but not conducted a photo therfore no other photo in the history has been pulled from ever being used by news and photo organisations. If you don't see the difference you have a big problem. So take your own advice.

      Hello, dear@ Deadeggs.

Not everybody can practise it (you can and I immensely appreciate It) and very few can see and understand beyond words surface.

    3. Hello Stephanie.
You asked me to explain to you why the Princess of Wales should go to prison.
Well - It is just a light hearted joke/comment, nothing more, nothing less.
With all the international media’s hoo-ha that’s been going on, one gets the impression that the Princess has committed a major crime and should be punished with a stay in prison. 😁
If my comment/question has offended you or if you think it is out of place, then I’ll ask Helen, our blog administrator, to remove it.
I hope the Princess has a speedy recovery and finds lots of healthy and happy time to spend with Prince William and her family.
You know Stephanie, each day I try to bring a smile or some happiness to those around me.
When I can, I feel I’ve done my bit to make the world a better and happier place.

I see the issue not so much the edited photo but that it was suggested to be a photo taken on Mothers day which it was not. Coupled with princess of Wales not being seen, having a mysterious illness for privacy reasons. It gives one pause to think if there is any truth coming from the palace in an attempt to say all is well. Be honest like the King and the King of Norway, people will accept and people with embrace you. A touch up on a photo to make you look better is okay, but no one likes being lied too.
