On Monday, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester visited Gloucester Cathedral in Gloucester. During their visit, The Duke and Duchess were given an overview of the Cathedral’s work within the community, meeting with members of staff from the Learning and Participation team, who engage in the Cathedral’s social responsibility, outreach and diversity work.
The visit forms part of The Duke of Gloucester’s ‘Cathedrals in Pilgrimage’ programme. Gloucester Cathedral is a sacred space in the heart of Gloucester, with a history that can be traced back to 679AD. Gloucester Cathedral’s historic organ is widely regarded as one of the most important instruments of its kind in the world.
Britain desperately needs New Young working Royals.

DeleteWhat a mean and ageist comment! The Gloucesters are very nice and dignified royals, I take them over the Yorkies every day.
DeleteRomy B.
the Gloucesters are amazing… they work as hard as the PPoW even at their age. But I totally agree Ms there is a real void at the moment. The alternative is that William starts working as hard as his Father did at his age. LRB
DeleteDuke of Gloucester is 80, he ages well compared to his second cousin, the King
DeleteWhile I would love to see, for example, the York princesses brought on board, and eventually Lady Louise and the earl of Wessex, I hope we can see the Gloucesters for a good few years--as the similarly aged Princess Benedicta, Queen Margrethe, King and Queen of Sweden etc
DeleteI am with Romy B, I prefer this classy couple over the Yorkies
DeleteNot that I am a particular fan of Prince William, but did you have taken into account that he has probably a lot of work to do behind the scenes ?
DeleteTo give you one example : in almost all the royal houses in Europe the king or the queen has a meeting with the ministers, state secretaries, etc... once a week to discuss important issues. I suppose now that King Charles cannot do that, someone else has to do it. I also know that on these meetings subjects are discussed where a lot of study has to be done before. Could it be that Prince William has to do this now ?. I can imagine if you are not used to do this, you need some time to prepare yourself. I also suppose since he is younger he has to take care of issues that are more important and more difficult than to do a little visit now and then and to receive people from charity organizations. After all he is the crown prince and will have to handle these matters in the future too when he will be king.
Generally the work that is not seen is almost always not easy and difficult.
J'aime beaucoup ce charmant couple qui est de plus en plus sur le terrain ; la duchesse nous montre sa sobre élégance toute vêtue de blanc-cassé ainsi que les bijoux qu'elle a associés !
ReplyDeleteAgree 100%.
DeleteSo nice to see this very sympathetic couple again ! The Duchess of Gloucester always dresses very elegant.
ReplyDeleteFor me, they are unsung heroes. I just love the Gloucesters.
DeleteRomy B.
The Duke and Duchess both look great.

Nice to see the Gloucester's again. The coat is nice also the color. css
ReplyDeleteNice to see people who, when they were young, thrust into the rolls of working royals. They are likeable, lovely, classy individuals and steadfast working royals who rarely get coverage on this blog.
ReplyDeleteEdwina
Very elegant low key hard working and sympathetic. Ac
ReplyDeleteAlways love to see the Gloucesters! The Duchess is an elegant lady and they make a perfect team to support the BRF. Some comments have been made about needing some new working royals--I totally agree with the Princess Royal's comments regarding this situation. Yes, there need to be some new, younger royals brought into the mix. Maybe on a part-time basis just like the Gloucesters. The York princesses and the Edinburgh children can fill the bill, allowing George, Charlotte, and Louis years to grow, mature, and enjoy themselves. KCIII plan for a slimmed down monarchy is a good one but he needs to consider a bit more support from the younger generation. Seeing royals like the Gloucesters out and about is wonderful but at some point I would chance they would like to retire as Prince Philip chose to do. Back to fashion--the Duchess looks lovely in her winter white ensemble and I like her hair is a bit longer than its been in a quite some time--its a nice look for her.

@ Janet. Maybe the York princesses are not interested They have husbands and children of their own. Doesn't Princess Eugenie lives in Portugal because her husband has been transferred there by his work in the banking world ? And the Edinburgh children are still in college. It would not be very smart to skip school now that they must think of their own future.
DeleteThe Gloucester's both look great, its splendid to see them both out and about. They are a wonderful asset. The Duchess looks well co ordinated and elegant.
ReplyDeleteNo offense to the dashing POW, he just doesn't have that strong work ethic engrained in him like his father and Prince Phillip did. At his age now, I doubt that will change. Sorry, I deviated from Style.
ReplyDeleteTo date, of all the people spoken about in this topic, the Prince of Wales is the only one who is a young father with three children.
ReplyDeleteI’m sure he wants to be a good dad for his children and help them to have a family life as “normal” as possible with his involvement and presence.
Something he missed out on when he was a young boy/man.
Perhaps if he dons his SUPERMAN outfit, he can keep everybody happy.
