On February 12, 2024, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia held a diplomatic reception at Stockholm Royal Palace for ambassadors from the United States, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Romania and Turkey. Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were also present at the diplomatic reception. A few times a year, newly-appointed ambassadors and their spouses are given the opportunity to meet The King and Queen during a reception.

DeleteThe Queen looks elegant in this classic pink suit, however C Princess Victoria looks dull in this ensemble. The blouse doesn't go well with the jacket, a top with a crew neck would be preferable. I'm tired of the little bun on top of her head, a neat low pony tail would look far better. MJT

Ja so sehe ich das auch, dieser langweilige Dutt immer und immer wieder langweilig. Sie ist so jung und dynamisch und wunderschön und macht mit diesen Dutt s alles selbst kaputt. Aber vielleicht kann sie diesen selber so gut glatt bürsten und kämmen, damit sie Geld für Friseur spart. Haarschmuck kostet auch richtig Geld wäre aber bei der Kronprinzessin gut investiert ein Haarreif eine Klammer und dieses langweilige Duttes wäre Nebensache wenn es denn schon nicht offen getragen geht. Sie sollte sich vielleicht mal den Friseuren von Prinzessin Madeleine und Prinzessin Sofia beraten lassen ; ) -Dorothe-
Delete@Dorothe Victoria's hair has quite a bit of curl and texture. It takes a lot of time to style her type of hair. I don't think she has the time or knowledge to style her own hair, and would require a stylist each time she had a meeting or went out. This is just a guess, but I suspect she would rather not incur the expense of a stylist. Her wardrobe is usually fairly simple, as is her makeup, so it stands to reason that she feels pulling her hair up is good enough. I do think it is a shame because she can do so much better, but it is not a priority to her. If she had her hair straightened, for example, she would have so many more options.
DeleteImo Anonymous at 21:16 has stated Victoria's hair situation very well, and I suspect it is the same dilemma Princess Anne decided to cope with long ago by styling her hair the same way, day in and day out.
DeleteWe have seen Victoria with her hair down several times in the pasta. She looks gorgeous so why she thinks this is good enough every single day is weird. It's like she doesn't care.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if it is the lighting but, Silvia seems to have lighten her hair color a little as well. It looks good and not as harsh. I think her suit is perfect for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteI like Victoria's jacket but I wonder if there are other pieces that go with it. Here, I'm not sure about what she has combined it with. I don't hate it, but I'm not loving it either.
The gentlemen of the royal house look very good in their suits. :) I feel sometimes we don't give the men equal time in the fashion department.

Queen Silvia looks marvelous--elegant and lovely in her bright pink suit. Victoria? I hate it when she wears blouses that have full-length sleeves that show past the 3/4 length sleeves of this jacket! It looks messy and unpolished. I am also not a fan of this blouse--its too shiny. Also, the collar style of the blouse doesn't work at all with the Chanel-esque jacket. Can't really tell much about her skirt. Overall, this was a rare total miss for this wonderful princess.

If Queen Silvia's dressy daywear is setting the tone, I'm happy to jump to Victoria's defense. I love her outfit. The pieces work together very well for a sophisticated, event-appropriate look. And imo you can't go wrong with a satin blouse.
