On February 22, 2024, King Felipe and Queen Letizia gave a lunch at the Royal Palace of Madrid in honor of the President of Guatemala Cesar Bernardo Arevalo de Leon and his wife Lucrecia Eugenia Peinado Villanueva. Guatemalan President and his wife are making a working visit to Spain at the invitation of King Felipe.

ReplyDeleteLovely dress for Letizia - and I very much hope shoes of this height (and lower) become the norm for the poor legs and feet of Europe’s queens and princesses! The Guatemalan president’s wife is a high achiever herself with work as doctor and in UNDP programmes. - AnneLise
DeleteI agree with you AnneLise.
DeleteI often wonder how many of these royal ladies are going to end up with foot problems like bunions because of the high heels that they wear.
I don't like this dress. Shoe ok.
DeleteOh Cate, thank you for mentioning bunions.
DeleteIt’s been off the blog’s discussion list for quite awhile now.
My unloveable mother-in-law is having a lot of problems with bunions. I’ll see if she can bring me up to date on the subject.
Watch this space.
I like this dress--- lovely colours and a great shape. I understand that foot problems have meant that Queen Letizia has been forced to wear lower heels but they just don't give quite the same elegant appearance.
ReplyDeleteyes i see what you mean, a beautiful dress like this looks great with high heels. But high heels worn regularly create foot problems!
DeleteIt is not a given that high heels will cause foot problems. You can have problems with your feet that have nothing to do with wearing high heels. Shoes that are too tight can cause a whole host of problems. Sometimes medical issues occur due to heredity or by chance. It is so easy to blame high heels! The ones who do it are usually the ones that can't wear them for some reason and want to see all women in low heels like they have to wear. High heels are so much nicer looking. If a lady is able to wear them, good for her!
DeleteTo Anonymous 23/2/24. It is a proven fact that wearing high heels is extremely damaging to the feet. The higher the heel the more the foot is forced to conform to an unnatural position. Walking in this position puts even more pressure on the feet. It's true foot problems can develop for a number of other reasons but to discount high heels as one of the causes is misleading. High heels can also damage your ankles, knees, lower back and other areas which affects your overall posture. You seem to intimate that those who raise these issues are envious of women who "can" wear high heels because they can't. I don't think that is the case when there is solid medical evidence to the contrary.

Sandra, I am well aware that heels can damage the foot and cause problems throughout the body. Some women can wear them daily for years and are fine, others cannot. Good quality shoes make a big difference to your feet and how they feel in heels. Because I have always been able to wear heels, I have experienced a lot of comments from people who can't wear them. More often than not, it is a crack from someone that can't walk in them. Far less often it is a comment about a foot problem that prevents high heels. After decades of wearing them, my autoimmune issues have made it very difficult to wear them for any length of time. I am going to have to start changing shoes into something more comfortable after only a few hours. I'm not ready to give them up yet. My doctor left it up to me, telling me that my body would let me know when it was time. My feel are in perfect shape, but my body - not so much.
DeleteAnonymous 23/2/24 15:29 Thanks for your response. I'm happy you have not had problems with your feet. All the best.
DeleteActually Letizia is a living example of the problems that wearing super high heels can cause. Wearing high heels is a known risk factor for developing metatarsalgia and Morton's neuroma. They may also shorten the Achilles tendon, if worn daily for years. It may be easier to give up high heels, when you know the real reason behind the fashion of women's high heels. They make a woman's legs look longer, which makes her look more like a teenager who has just reached puberty and who is thus an attractive mating partner for a male.

I love this dress on Letitia, she wore it years ago when meeting the then prince of Wales, Charles
ReplyDeleteLove both - classy and elegant.
ReplyDeleteRare miss for QLet--this dress is pretty and she looks wonderful in it but it is too long for the lower heels she is wearing. Sorry but with the low heels the dress looks like something out a 1950s American TV show (Donna Reed and Leave It To Beaver came immediately to mind)--and not the fresh, sophisticated styling from Letizia we are used to seeing. I love her wearing the lower heels but some of her hemlines might need an adjustment to be more flattering and modern.

This is a beautiful dress, I remember the Queen wearing this before. The skirt has plenty of movement. I love the colors, very elegant.
ReplyDeleteI like the fabric of this dress and the colors, but there is something wrong with the skirt. When you take a look at pictures N° 1 & 3, you can see that it is pulled up in the front like on someone with a bit of a belly, which is certainly not the case with Queen Letizia. Or it is made with a hemline that is shorter in the front and longer in the back.
ReplyDeleteI miss her in her beautiful high heels, however I understand the problems they cause. She still is very elegant in her dress.
ReplyDeleteShe has a Morton's neuroma, very painful
DeleteI love everything about this dress. Pattern, colour, style and fit. So beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI do not agree with the notion that only super high heels are elegant. This shoe with its slim design and thin heel are very elegant and the colour matches the dress perfectly.
She has a Morton's neuroma
DeleteQueen Letizia is wearing Carolina Herrera, a custom fit-and-flare dress designed using the oleander floral print. She is wearing navy court shoes from Margita and earings from Tous.
ReplyDeleteI think Letizia wore this dress when she and Charles visited an art show in London a couple of years ago. I liked this dress than I Iike it today. css
