On February 7, 2024, Jordan celebrated the 25th anniversary of King Abdullah’s accession to the throne. On this occasion, the government unveiled a new ‘Silver Jubilee’ logo and raised a flag in a ceremony. King Abdullah, Queen Rania, Crown Prince Hussein, Princess Rajwa, Princess Muna, Princess Iman and Princess Salma attended the ceremony of raising the Silver Jubilee flag at the courtyard of Raghadan Palace in Amman.
Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, king of Jordan, was born on January 30, 1962 in Amman. In January 1999, King Hussein, whose health was deteriorating, named Abdullah the new heir to the Hashemite crown. After the death of his father on February 7, 1999, Abdullah became king of Jordan and he was officially crowned on June 9.

Rania est vêtue d'un superbe manteau ; j'adore son originalité !
ReplyDeletei like that Crown Prince and Princess are in touch with their culture. Rajwa should have kept the scarf on.
DeleteWhy ? You are supposed to cover your head before entering a mosque. Maybe before entering a mausoleum/burial site you are supposed to do the same. When other royal ladies are visiting the Islamic countries they also cover their head when visiting a mosque, out of respect. Nobody says they have to keep the scarf on once they are outside again.
DeleteThe same in Europe, in the old days before entering a church women had to cover their head and men had to take their hat off. Now everybody can do what he/she prefers. In some churches in the south of Europe and in East European religions women still cover their head before entering a church.
Gorgeous coat by Dior! So elegant.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I wonder what it looks like with the flaps open.
DeleteBeautiful choices of coats for the ladies indeed, though Princess Rajwa opted out. I think her handbag, though beautiful in itself, looks a bit out of place with her dress. A clutch could have been a better choice. Princess Muna is so elegant.
ReplyDeleteMaguy
And Princess Rajwa hair also looks great here. For some of her recent overseas trips her hair has not looked its best - for whatever reasons (some people blamed humidity but I don't feel that is an excuse when she could have just as easily pulled her hair up or back) - but here, it looks really nice.
DeleteIt wasn't BLAMING the humidity, it WAS the humidity. It's a shame we all can't be as perfect as you are.
DeleteI agree with you. Everybody knows that humidity is bad for the hold of an hairstyle. Ask the 1st hairdresser that you see and he will tell you the same. Even during Winter when there is falling fine rain all day, many women have problems with their hair.

DeleteOK, YOU DON'T NEED TO YELL AT ME. What are you? The official ambassador of humidity? Is "humidity shaming" now a thing too? Really?! Get a grip.
I'm pretty sure humidity's feelings are not hurt from humans blaming it for Rajwa's frizzy hair. Gheeeze!
@ "Anonymous 11:55"
DeleteYou are just proving my point. Yes, humidity is going to do what it does but there's also no reason why it can't be addressed. There's way too many products and tools to combat it (Google) *including* pulling the hair back or up into a neat do with a little hair spray, gel, etc. One of my go-to products is Paul Mitchell's Super Clean Extra Finishing Hairspray. Try it. It does wonders!

DeleteThanks for the advice, but I am afraid this brand is not available in my country. Never heard of it. I do not use hairspray when it is not really necessary like when there is a lot of wind. I do not have long hair either. But when it is raining every day and I do not cover my hear with a hat + an umbrella I have plenty of little curls or frizzy hair.
The fashion highlight of the photos is Queen Rania’s cashmere coat.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it’s from Dior, it doesn’t bowl me over. The top is a bit confusing for me.
I prefer the classic lines on the Louis Vuitton coat as worn by Princess Iman.
Don’t see Princess Iman’s husband (Jameel Thermiotis) in the family line up.
I think his business interests are in America and probably spends a lot of his time there.
Princess Muna (the King’s mother) has never been into fashion and today is no exception.
Congratulations to King Abdullah for his 25 years as King of Jordan.
p.s. Love the shoes on the Christian Dior model. Very Princess Laurentien-ish.
Princess Rajwa’s dress is elegant and appropriate for the occasion! Her purse is a perfect accessory. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI need that Dior coat.
ReplyDeleteOkay?! LOL. I hear you. :)
DeleteIt's rare that one is treated to a stunning line-up of coats as the primary focus of fashion for events showcasing royalty (other than the BRF on Christmas Day) but here we are. All the coats look wonderful to the individual person wearing them, but my favourite is the Alaia one. I love the fringe and especially the fringe detail on the back of the coat. My second choice would be Rania's Dior creation. The fit and shape is chic, and the front of it is different and unusual to a regular coat, which catches the eye. Lovely to see Princess Muna, who by wearing a different colour and a more traditional coat style from the rest, claims her spot in the line-up quite elegantly.

Beautiful coat on Q R, so much fantasy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful coat on Queen Rania. Princess Rajwa's style reminds me of Catherine's style, in style of dress, hair and handbag. It suits her well.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand I am wondering: does anyone know why she is wearing a white scarf in some pictures, no scarf in other pictures, and Rania is never wearing a scarf today? I'm wondering what the meaning is. Damsel Dragonfly
Princess Rajwa wore a white head scarf during a brief visit to the late King Hussein's burial site at the Royal cemetery, since the date of Abdullah's ascension is also the date of his father's death. Her reasons for wearing it could have been religious or personal, but after that she removed it. Head scarves are not mandatory in Jordan which could be why Queen Rania isn't wearing one.

Anon 9:13.
DeleteIf you are entering a mosque you are supposed to cover your head. I saw that from other royals like, former Queen Beatrix, Queen Mathilde, etc... They also covered their head. Maybe it is the same when you are entering a burial site/mausoleum too.
@Anon 12:08
DeleteI'm well aware of the requirement to wear a scarf when entering INSIDE a place of worship such as a church or mosque.
The mausoleum was not a church or mosque. It looked to be outdoors, or semi-outdoors, from other photos on the net showing them praying at it that are not on this blog. I'm sure that if it was a requirement to wear one in that circumstance, Rania and all the other ladies would have done so.

I can answer that for you. In some Muslim cultures, a little prayer for the deceased is often recited at a grave. Some women choose to cover their heads out of convention, others don’t. Rajwa may come from a family that covered their hair when a formal prayer was recited.
DeleteRania's Dior is a dream! It the kind of coat I would love to see Kate wear. Rajwa's style is going to be interesting to watch as it evolves. I like her green bag in a sea of black and grey. It's also nice to see Rania and Rajwa carrying proper daytime handbags. Clutches are really evening wear.
ReplyDeleteStrange looking coat. I do not care for the criss-cross panels in front.
ReplyDeleteGreat look for everyone. Love the Dior coat a lot. css
ReplyDeleteThe coat is unusual but I like it. Queen Rania looks lovely.
