  1. Elégante Mathilde dans toute cette combinaison grise légèrement perlée ; du peu que je peux voir ses boucles d'oreilles en diamants ont comme d'habitude ont été très bien choisies !

These 'Boy George' hats look ridiculous on her!

Nothing to do with "Boy George". It is the "Brunella" hat a Fedora she wore for the 1st time in 2015 and several times since then. It is a creation by Fabienne Delvigne a well know hat designer who works for the royal families in Europe.

I would not use the word ridiculous but I also do not like this style of hat. I have said so many times befor. Queen Mathilde has several in same of similar style and so does Queen Mary. I can think of many other hats I like a lot better. Just my personal taste.

I think this comment is ridiculous, there are many other more gracious words to chose from when describing a hat.

Mathilde is drowning in a flood of gray. I would choose a contrasting color of the dress or accessories. A cowboy style hat shadows her face. a smaller hat would suit her better.
Princess Claire looks good in navy blue.

I like the monochromatic look of Queen Mathilde's outfit. This is not a cowboy hat (read the description @ Anonymous 15:30).

I don't think she's drowning but I do agree the collar of the coat is too high, when combined with this type of hat. But separately they're beautiful pieces that fit her well. Glad to see the family together. Damsel Dragonfly

I love Queen Mathilde's outfit in monochromatic gray. The hat makes it chic as well as the diamond earrings and diamond broach representing two birds in a bird cage.

The dress and coat are elegant, but the hat doesn't fit her. She looks weird and funny.

In picture number 3 we can also see Princess Marie-Astrid of Luxemburg (just behind Queen Paola) and her husband. Marie-Astrid is the eldest sister of Grand Duc Henri of Luxemburg and a cousin of King Philippe. King Albert II is her uncle. The last years several members of the Belgian royal family are not present any more at this yearly ceremony. Princess Esmeralda who is King Albert's II half sister is not present, Lea Wolman Princess Alexander of Belgium the widow of King Albert's II half brother Prince Alexander, not present, etc... Normally Princess Astrid of Belgium and her husband Prince Lorenz are always present at this ceremony but not this time, maybe they are taking a holiday abroad.

What a lovely coat and hat on Mathilde! The cut, shape and cool grey colour of both looks clean, fresh and stylish. I'm not usually a fan of balloon cuffs but I love them here on the thicker coat fabric. Gives a soft, satisfying look. Very nice.

I do not like the sleeves on Mathilde’s coat; they are swamping her. Also do not like this style of hat in general. The gray color is nice. Pretty earrings. I’m not sure what the brooch is in the shape of.

I'll repeat it again . the brooch is representing two birds (parrots to be more precisely) in a bird cage. The brooch is made of diamonds, rubis and emeralds. I saw a photo of that brooch on another website and tried to copy it and past it here but it didn't worked out.

I loved the cut and color of the jacket QM was wearing until I noticed the puffed sleeves at the cuffs that totally ruined the contemporary look of it.

Very elegant RL. Mathilde looks stunning. So nice to see so many family members there. I think Delphine, should have worn a less loud coat. Oh well that is Delphine. Albert and Paola look very nice. On some of the pics Laurent and Claire are smiling nice to see. css

The all over silver grey is super flattering on QM.The hat is not the best choice/style for her.She has a similar one in red. They sit too low down on the face, casting an unflattering shadow. The jewels are beautiful. It’s seems QM has been adding to her jewellery collection!

Marvelous gray coat and matching accessories for the Queen. One of her best looks. But I think the sleeves are a little funky the way the bunch up at the bottom then go tight. Seems a bit off.

I like Queen Mathilde's outfit but don't love it. The monochromatic look is fine with me--this is a very serious occasion so gray is a perfect choice. My issues are with her hat and the sleeves and neckline of her coat. I have liked this hat on other occasions but today it seems sort of smashed on her head--perhaps an adjustment to the placement would be better. The coat has too much fabric, especially the sleeves. Narrow them somewhat. The collar is just too much but might look better if the rest of coat were not so big. But even with too big coat and smashed on hat Mathilde looks elegant here.

  20. Princess Delphine’s coat is just a little too loud for the occasion IMO.
Would love to see what shoes she is wearing. She almost always wears 1970's beetle crusher or platform sole shoes.
But then she is an artist.
Nice to see her giving her “love” design a rest.

  21. Globalment, I like Queen Mathilde’s ensemble.
A little break away from convention with the coat sleeves, but still staying within the boundaries of good taste.
The only quibble I have about the outfit is the hat.
Not that she shouldn't be wearing one but the way it is hiding her face.
Maybe a size smaller would do the trick.

The Queen, love the coat sleeves, not so fond of the hat. Not a fan of the step-sister's outfit, just over the top with colours and shapes.

A smart outfit, nice touch w/the darker handbag and shoes. She could have chosen light or dark for the gloves. A smartly assembled outfit. I wish fedoras were more popular with others, I like them. Christine
