January 27 is the International Day of Remembrance for Holocaust Victims. On the occasion of the Holocaust Remembrance Day (Förintelsens minnesdag), King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attended a memorial service for the victims of the Holocaust at the Great Synagogue of Stockholm. International Holocaust Remembrance Day commemorates the tragedy of the Holocaust that took place during the World War II.
Very important work, Queen Silvia och King Carl Gustaf!
ReplyDeleteThey both look so elegant. This Queen is amazing for me she is the epitome class.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, highly agree!
DeleteA smart jacket and skirt for the sombre occasion but the shooties ruin the outfit for me.
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see the Swedish royals visible support for Holocaust Memorial Day. The Queen’s outfit is as smart as usual but sadly it looks like she’s borrowed Victoria’s shooties 🙀

There is a stone in my shoe…
ReplyDeleteIn mine too.
DeleteQueen borrowed her daughter Victoria's shoes
ReplyDelete… a sensible choice when it’s slushy and cold outside. I lived in Stockholm as a kid; I thoroughly endorse sensible winter shoes! - AnneLise
DeleteNice outfit. I wonder what she has done different to her hair, looks shorter, poofier, and wish she would let it go a more natural colour for her age. Edwina
ReplyDeleteShe looks so rested. Nice outfit too. A very somber Remembrance Day. The WORLD should never forget. If we do, we are condemned to repeat it again. The World is on fire and what is done to stop it NOTHING. Maybe we should all look at our self's, deep into our hearts and ask ourselves. Do we want that for our children and grandchildren????? I for one must say NO. css
ReplyDeleteWhat do you suggest to STOP it ? As long as there will be bad, crazy and incapable people among the leaders of the world, as long there will exist wars, genocide, etc... Of course we don't want that for our children or grandchildren. None of my ancestors were able to stop it : my grandparents survived 2 world wars. My parents survived 1 world war. They did not want it for their children and grandchildren and family either. But what could they do, what can we do ? We are not the people who have the power, the money, the knowledge... to do it.
DeleteThe outfit looks fabulous but the boots are a no. I don't like this look.
ReplyDeleteThose booties are a sensible and stylish choice during the cold winter months when you have to walk both outdoors and indoors and you don't want to have the hassle of changing your shoes.
ReplyDelete-B.
Agree @ -B . A sensible and stylish choice.
DeleteMaybe not the most elegant footwear but they certainly do a good job when it’s cold indoors and slushy outside.
@deadeggs, just not for Queen Sylvia especially wearing a dress, perhaps they would look better with pants!
DeleteThe most of you call them "shooties". I did not know that word. We always talk about "booties", which I find more logic. Little boots = booties. I like them. Where I am from, young people always wear them during Winter with black opaque tights and a dress or skirt. I only wear them with trousers. I prefer long boots with skirts and dresses. Maybe Queen Sylvia should also wear them with opaque tights. O well, she must wear what she finds the most comfortable and warm during a cold Winter.
ReplyDeleteI do not care for the boots, but love the jacket!

Queen SIlvia is very down-to-earth. Like Camilla. Perhaps the age. Relaxed, unpretentious....She visited Germany a few days ago, unnoticed, and stopped at a mental health clinic only because out of interest. She was recognised by workmen and invited for a coffee, which she accepted. Who of the other royals would have done that? Just a great woman. Frieda

Maybe she took the opportunity to visit some relatives in Germany.
DeleteAnon on 29.1.24 @16;51 I agree with you. Sad but true. css
