Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence are making a three-day official visit to Sri Lanka. Princess Anne, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake. As patron of Save the ChildrenUK, Princess Anne visited the Save the Children offices in Colombo. The Princess received a briefing on their work and celebrated their 50th year of operations in Sri Lanka.
A beautiful combination in terms of colour, but I find it so ugly when the collar of a blouse fall over the lapels of a blazer. I can understand that the PR occasionally wears a pair of glasses to protect her eyes, but it is high time for a better model in combination with the classic clothing; these pair of glasses fit much better with a sporty outfit.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and Princess Anne's hair looks like straw, a new haircut is long overdue, it would make her look younger and trendier. She hasn't changed her hair in years.

The words “trendy” and “Princess Anne” really don’t belong together. That being said, I see her as a lovely woman dedicated to duty.
DeleteLaughed at the comment about wanting to make another human younger and trendier. What?! Princess Anne is 73! - and has quite some access to cash so if she wanted to dress differently or hide her age, she could … but isn’t it lovely that she has very good energy still to do her work, engaging so well with people around the world, and doesn’t see the need to be anything but herself?! Brava, Princess Anne! - AnneLise
DeleteWell said, AnneLise! Completely agree with you.
DeleteI know women who are 83 and look younger than P. Anne. "If she wanted to dress differently" ? Yes she could. "if she wanted to hide her age" ? too late. It is not at 73 you must start with skin care or hair care. Maybe a real make-over could help a bit but cannot repair all the damage that has been done over the years.
DeleteShe is full of energy and engaging, I agree with that but she has not the energy to look better after her appearance, she is a princess after all.
Such a drab outfit.
ReplyDeleteI rather like the khaki color both of them are wearing, after all they are in a tropical country. If you were in Palm Beach khaki would be quite fashionable. I like the way the Vice Admiral pairs matching socks and the loafers or slippers!
DeleteLike the blue and cream colour combo. Also the matching cream coloured suits! :-)
ReplyDeleteLa princesse Anne a su associer les couleurs mais c'est au niveau de ses lunettes que le bât blesse ; en effet, elles montrent un modèle sportif qui ne convient pas du tout pour aller avec sa tenue classique !
ReplyDeleteI love this woman and appreciate that she rocks her own style at every event. The outfit is not great, but it’s practical and consistent with her typical look. My one nit is the ridiculous sunglasses…too bad she didn’t get a new pair for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteNice to see them together in Sri Lanka far away from home. And both are color-coordinated. Anne is one of the hardest working Royal and get the least coverage. IMO at least. css
ReplyDeleteOn anyone else, I would not like these sunglasses, but they seem so Princess Anne (I mean that in a good way). I like her necklace, too.
ReplyDelete- Royal Watcher
The Princess Royal is doing her job, and the focus is on those she is
ReplyDeletemeeting not her wardrobe. This has always been her way of doing things and often wears items that are decades old. She shows genuine interest in those she meets, not in how her appearance is
judged.
hmmm wondering, but we judge what the other royal ladies are wearing. Right ;)
DeleteWe judge what they are wearing, because royal ladies like Mary, Catherine or Maxima are obviously very interested in fashion... Sometimes we still judge it when someone isn't into fashion like Princess Anne or Stephanie of Luxembourg, but it's honestly a bit of a moot point...
DeleteComment or judge, there is a difference. Right!
DeleteTo judge is to have a firm decision about someone/something based on fact.
DeleteTo comment is your opinion be it positive or negative based on your observation.
I have such respect for P. Anne’s work ethic, but at the same time I’d love to see her have a mini makeover. Maybe a haircut (chin length bob?) and a few new clothes. Nothing crazy, a couple of new pantsuits would help. And another pair of sunglasses in addition to her sporty ones! (V.M.)
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne is TCB in those sunglasses! Elvis lives.

Dear Mrs C
DeleteI had no idea what TCB meant.
Looked it up and this is what I found ……
“TCB, as in Taking Care of Business, which was Elvis Presley's action-man motto and the name of his backup band”.
No fashion surprises from Princess Anne.
DeleteNo uneven hems, no baggy pant suits, no lace, no pussy bows, no fuss or bother, just a royal wearing something decent and getting on with the job.
I wish I’d known she was going to Sri Lanka so that I could have asked her to bring back some Ceylon tea.
Difficult to buy good quality Ceylon tea in the supermarkets.
The only difference is that Elvis liked sexy girls in sexy clothes.....
DeleteIf I look at the pictures it looks like Princess Anne and her husband think they have to dress like in the old days of the colonies. When queen Maxima visits tropical islands she wears summer dresses in bright colors and looks very feminine. About P. Anne's hair everything has been said. If you look at her hands on these pictures, I think a bit of hand cream is very necessary.
I would never have put blue and this shade of cream together but it looks okay. She is such a wonderful Princess, I have much admiration for her.
ReplyDeleteShe would have been a great Queen - just like my Victoria will be one day.

There is nothing about fashion here. Those glasses are for mountain biking. The 1990s are calling to get the collar back.
ReplyDeleteAnne is wearing eye protective glasses, the same ones she has worn for years. I too would find the need to protect my eyes if put in her position. All the negative remarks are not taking into consideration that maybe Anne has an eye sensitivity to light, or another eye condition that requires she take better care of her vision. Edwina
