  1. I don't think Stephanie's dress was a good choice for her. Lovely Alexandra as expecting mother, her dress is lovely. Don't know what to think about Grand- Duchess's dress, not a top choice.

    1. I actually liked both of those dresses in the seated pictures, but they are less attractive in the final, standing view. Oh, well.

Love to see all the tiaras. P Alexandra´s greek style draped dress is very beautiful. HGD Stephanie´s dress is very pretty but it almost looks a bit large across the bust. The Grand Duchess is wearing a very interesting dress but I find it too casual for a white tie event. Would be lovely for a summer party.

  4. Elégantes toutes les trois même si j'ai une préférence pour Maria Teresa vêtue d'une robe imprimée fleurie d'Elie Saab qui affine sa silhouette !

The men as well as PA all look impeccable, but GDMT and HDS are not wearing the niciest dresses ...GDMT looks as if she' attending a beach event whereas the skirt part of HGDS dress is of a blue-greyish colour which imo doesn't look nice on her

  6. What a tiara treat, for a minute there I thought the royal family had decided not to do the reception this year but I'm glad I was wrong. To start off all of the men look really handsome and its such a pleasure to see Nicolas (with a new family order I see) taking part in this event. Him and Princess Alexandra make such a lovely couple, I hope we get to see more of them.

GD María Teresa: Best dressed of the night in my opinion. The Belgian Scroll tiara is simply stunning, it is definitely one of my favorites from the collection.

HGD Stephanie: While I love the dress and its details, the really low neckline makes it look a little frumpy on Princess Stephanie. Maybe a different style on the top would suit her better.

P Alexandra: While the style of the dress is not my favorite I do love the dark purple color. The Vine and Leaves tiara looks beautiful on her. I do appreciate that Princess Alexandra is exploring other tiaras and jewels from her family's collection.

With all the money at the family’s disposal,I’m amazed at how wrong they get their ensembles. I don’t mean that in a mean way!GDM dress is more fitting to a summer night holiday meal.HGD needs a stylist,to show her what colour spectrum she’s on,and what designs suit her. This dress, though pretty, does nothing for her.It washes her out.The neckline is too revealing. She’d be better suited with a boatneck design, with a warm/pastel colour. She suits the feminine look.
PA- Gorgeous colour, but again, not the best style. She’s glowing with her pregnancy. The strand of hair,is fine, but not wearing a tiara. Bea

They need a stylist(s) that will be honest with them and also *for them to take the advice.* Someone may have pointed out all the things you (and the rest of here) have but, if they don't listen or choose to get dress totally on their own .... Oh well.

I did not remember that the ducal family of Luxemburg held new years receptions in gala outfits and tiara's.
    About the dresses :
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa : sorry but I think she made a mistake with that dress. A plain dark color and the shape of Princess Alexandra's dress would have been lovely for her.
Princess Alexandra : chic navy (color on my screen-) dress that suits her perfectly.
Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie : not a good dress for her, too pale to go with her skin color, neckline is too deep. On the model it is perfect. On HGDS it does not look good. The sleeves are different too.
They all wear beautiful tiaras. Grand duke Henri looks very handsome in his gala uniform.

Good catch about the sleeves. One thing I have repeatedly noticed with Stephanie, for almost all her tops, the sleeves are always too long. (Her arm length might not be in proper proportion to her torso.) The cuff is often hitting across the tops of her hands - a tell-tale sign. I used to sew on a regular basis and for me, I had the opposite problem - arms about 1 to 1.5 inches longer than the standard pattern length. Stephanie should always have her clothes tailored - *especially all pants and sleeves* - but most often I think she just wears them right of the rack. Since this was a formal event, someone must have noticed that the sleeves were too long and must have an adjustment. But instead of making that alteration at the shoulders to preserve the overall design of the dress, they just cut them off at the bottom. [Sigh.] Maybe there wasn't time for a proper alteration.

She gets vote N°1 from me.
Her husband, Nicolas Bagory seems to be adjusting well to his new life.

Princess Alexandra looks wonderful. Pregnancy agrees with her. The dress just needs to be a little bit longer.

LOVE Stephanie's dress. I think it would be better for spring or summer instead of winter but that's just my opinion. I know, "There aren't any rules anymore." ;-) I also think she should have worn it with the the Luxembourg Amethyst Bandeau and with its coordinating necklace and earrings (which I don't think we've seen in years). It would work with Alexandra's dress as well. Why isn't one them wearing it?! LOL.

MT's dress is a "No" for me. The pattern on the fabric is a little too busy especially with all the royal regalia. I also think it would be better suited for a younger person. The whole look of the dress feels more youthful to me - i.e. someone in their 20s or early 30s. Sometimes I believe MT thinks that if it's Elie Saab it's automatically perfect and that's not always true imo.

Stupid comment. Every royal lady wears now and then a sash on naked skin. It all depends on the design of the gown. A bit of naked skin at the shoulder or at the neck, what difference does it make ? We are living in the 21st century you know, besides in the old days the necklines where sometimes deeper than now.

But Lisa asked a question, she didn’t make a comment/statement.
I’d be interested in reading a reply to her question and not a diatribe from someone about life in the 21st century and how stupid Lisa’s question is.

It is not a stupid comment. Every court has its own rules as to how and when insignia are to be worn. It is not up to you or me to decide

M-T. is a mother too, Alexandra is a mother to be. One must not be a model to dress good, but if your dress does not fit and the color is not right for you skin tone, a mother or not it will never looks good.

I do not think the horizontal pattern or the top of María Teresa’s dress is flattering on her. Agree with above comments that Stephanie’s dress is a bit too pale for her and the top appears too big. I like Alexandra’s dress, except the length in front, which looks a bit too short. I would chalk that up to her not wanting to trip while pregnant except the dress appears to have a train.

  15. Front and centre, Grand Duke Henri looks impeccably groomed in his gala uniform.
GD MT looks good in this cut of gown, it is very becoming, however I am not a fan of the pattern of the fabric.
HG D Stephanie, she looks lovely, but this gown, I don't feel is right for her. I prefer the sleeves on the model. The neckline doesn't look the best on Stephanie.
Alexandra looks lovely in this Navy gown, but I don't like the color of her shoes.
It was splendid to see the tiaras and jewels, lovely choices by the royal ladies.

Stephanie’s gown is a romantic dream. Its softness suits her lovely twinkling affect. Absolutely love the floral embellishments, which will also translate to other seasons.
MT at least avoided low cut cleavage and silly giant shoulder poufs. She can’t seem to grasp that simple lines and subdued colors are better for her shape. Alexandra looks beautiful in deep violet and love the style for her pregnancy.

The royal men all look very dashing! Alexandra for the win with her beautiful dress and tiara combo. GDMT looks great in this gown and I love the neckline, but the colors in the pattern do suggest more spring/summer. Maybe the fabric is thicker to make it more fitting for a winter event. The dress on CPS doesn’t do her any favors.

Alexandra looks wonderful--the tyle of her gown is perfect for pregnancy. The color is beautiful on her. My ony complaint--I am not a fan at all of the loose hank of hair hanging down the side of her face. Maria-Theresa is wearing a pretty dress but I don't see it as a formal gown worn for a tiara and white tie event. It looks a bit more like a summer dress that could be worn to nice party but not a formal event even in the summer. Stephanie--oh dear. I really want to like this dress on her but it's just not flattering in terms of fit or style--especially the sleeves. I do love the shades of blue and purple on her but, overall, this gown is a no.

At some point before the pandemic shutdown, I read a comment that Stephanie has physical traits beyond her control such as one arm longer than another. Even if she suddenly were to wear a hideous outfit, I will not criticize. When she wants to, she glams up nicely. Note, she is drinking water. Christine
