On January 30, Queen Camilla hosted a reception at Windsor Castle for authors, illustrators and binders. The reception at Windsor Castle was held to celebrate the authors, illustrators and binders who have been involved in the new Miniature Library collection displayed alongside Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House to mark its centenary year.
Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House library holds miniature books of the 1920s that were handwritten by the era’s most iconic writers, from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Vita Sackville-West to A. A. Milne and Thomas Hardy.
Camilla is so nice! Elfrid
ReplyDeleteshe looks Queen like today, well dressed
DeleteWow. Queen Camilla looks fantastic, not just the outfit but her face - happiness and contentment suits her.

Kudos to Camilla for championing books and literacy. I like the white detailing on her outfit.

So old fashioned. It looks like she just stepped out of a costume drama.
ReplyDeleteThe lady is in her late seventies. What do you expect her to wear? Seriously, tell us, what designer, what brand, what style. The white lace embellishment is a bit too much for my taste. But other than that the suit fits her perfectly well. The dark blue looks good on her, make-up and hair are nicely done. Yes, once again she chose her comfy boots. But from what I heard she has some serious back and knee problems. So let her be. I followed Camilla for some decades now. I always liked her and thought she has an interesting personality. She was never into fashion, she represents more the classic English country lady style.
DeleteIt has been said on several occasions, why always repeat the same. She must have heard it too in the meantime. Look at other queens and princesses older than she is and who are dressed classic but with elegance. As long as Queen Camilla will wear her old style of dresses and coats with too large shoulders caused by too big shoulder pads, as long as she will wear flared skirts and dresses (the type that she wears on this occasion) she will not look good. Very occasionally she wears clothes with a different cut, in which she looks so much better, but we see her not often like that. We never saw her with a nice classic pant suit. She looks good in pants. I saw pictures of her in jeans. On the other hand, she has beautiful gala or evening gowns. I remember the navy blue one she wore when they were on state visit in France last year.
DeleteI am sure she is doing good work and is interested in people's life, she is friendly with children, etc... Age, health, personality is something that has nothing to do with the way someone is dressed. There are special and elegant comfort shoes for people with foot problems. There are different therapies for people with back problems. I am sure she has the knowledge and the means to follow therapy adapted to her problems.
Well, I think she is looking great in that deux-pièces. It suits her and is very stylish.
DeleteTotally agree with Beth and bewildered by several of “anonymous”s statements (eg that back pain is so simple she can just get a therapy?! .. ooh if only medicine were so easy). At age 76 and with finite energy and perhaps pain, Camilla can wear what she likes to wear, that suits her personal comfort, events and own preferences. AnneLise

DeleteI agree with your comments about Camilla and fashion.
Her wardrobe, before she became Queen, was that of an English country lady.
Good sensible, practicable clothes of a conservative style and nature.
In her new role, I think we’ve all been waiting for a transformation from Camilla to a fashionista.
BUT as the saying goes .......
“you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear”
p.s. In her ageing years, IMO, Princess Anne has taken on the look of an English country lady with her wardrobe.
I thought this blog was about fashion in the first place. If we may not say anymore what we do not like and what would be lovely for this queen or that princess, why still bother to publish their pictures here ?
DeleteDid it occur to you that the anonymous could be old too, but if you don't try to get help from a good physiotherapist and if you don't try to get help from a good orthopedist you will never know if there is a cure that can help. If you don't want to look for help, nobody will help you.
DeleteShe is a queen after all. She must not change into a fashionista but one would expect a bit of interest in a few good classic dresses, coats, ..... (hats she has enough). Do you think that the other old queens in Europe have no pain ? Princess Beatrix, former Queen Margrethe, Queen Sonja, Queen Silvia, former Queen Sophia ....
What do health issues have to do with the style of her clothes? She does not have an attractive wardrobe. Her age has nothing to do with it either. It is possible to dress in an attractive and comfortable way at any age. I think she receives bad advice. This outfit looks like it is from the same dress pattern she has so many dresses made from, just cut in half to make it a two piece outfit.
DeleteThat is what I am asking myself too. But it was Beth and Anne Lise who began to talk about Camilla's health issues, not me.
DeleteQC looks radiant. Her outfit is lovely suits her. Mary
ReplyDeleteLa veste avec la touche blanche se combine à merveille avec la jupe ; comme Camilla a l'air d'adorer son bracelet Van Cleef & Arpels, nous avons l'occasion de lui voir souvent depuis quelque temps !
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing collection of little books ;to think those authors wrote their books in minature. The dolls house with the minature cars.Camilla looks good.
ReplyDeleteActually she is doing a great job of being out there representing the Royal family.(Tara)
Not sure if I like this outfit but I do think it suits Queen Camilla well. Perhaps without the boots?
ReplyDeleteLike the top and skirt.
DeleteA nice pair of fashionable kitten heels would have nicely topped it off.
BUT the boots won the day again ……..pity.
Kitten heels are not recommended for people with back pain and knee pain. I know what I am talking about. There are very beautiful comfort shoes in which you can put your orthopedic soles, on the outside it is not visible at all. I think the new pairs Queen Camilla bought during spring and summer last year are that type of shoe.
DeleteI understand why she likes to wear boots. Her feet and ankles are supported better in boots than in shoes and the result is that her knees and her back benefit of it too.
The suit is right up Camilla's street (fashion style) and it both suits and fits her well. She looks happy and comfortable in it and the colour is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIf I had a say, I'd have left the raised up part of the collar without any embroidery so as to have a ring of plain contrasting blue under her chin. But she looks fine.

The white embroidery/embellishments are very effective and nicely done, against the Navy of her jacket. This is a lovely two piece suit. She looks great.
