On January 25, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium held a new year's reception at the Royal Palace of Laeken. The reception was held for and attended by permanent representatives of NATO, members of the International Secretariat of NATO, military representatives of NATO and general officers of SHAPE. The NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg also attended the reception.
Classic and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAgree !! Beautiful in this shade of green !!
DeleteThe emerald colour of this suit is fabulous even though the style is on the fussy side with too many details. The unusual collar is interesting. Mathilde's hair looks great. It looks like she has long hair that was put in an updo. You would never know she has short hair.
ReplyDeleteAgree! Fabulous emerald colour of her dress, stunning hairstyle 👍 she is so class and elegant.
DeleteThe forest green is nice on the Queen, but the design and fit is not good. This outfit ages her by decades.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason these outfits aren't quite fitting her correctly. I'm not sure if it's the workmanship, the fabric, or not tailoring it to her body ... or all of the above. I like it but something isn't quite right. Is this Natan?
ReplyDeleteWow. That's exactly what I was thinking. My bet is it's Natan and this is the way it's supposed to fit. She doesn't look bad or anything, it's just a fit or proportion thing, I think.
DeleteThe suit was designed to fit in this way. I am not fan of it, Mathilde can wear it.
DeleteI agree 💯! Bea
DeleteLovely colour and lovely jacket design.
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering if the size is too big? I think it would be perfect if the jacket was slightly more fitted. She still looks good though.

I think the sleeves need to be slimmer to make the top look less bulky. Great colour and a design that is reminiscent of Dior´s New Look.
DeleteMathilde looks very regal. Her smile is contagious.

Beautiful color and Mathilde is a lovely woman but not sure about the sleeves and overall fit of the outfit?
ReplyDeleteAmateur tailoring of the Queen's suit; the hemline and sleeves look off!
ReplyDeletem
Fully agree with you; hemline and sleeves look very off. Next to this, I find the design something Queen Silvia would wear. Colour looks great on QM though.
DeleteYup. That hem is really bad.
DeleteQueen Mathilde looks lovely. The outfit, not so much. Too much stiff, puffy, oddly fitting fabric, especially in the jacket, as well as the hem of the garment, leaves me to wonder, if she had a really great seamstress, this garment would fit her like a glove, or perhaps, the fabric is the issue. ReplyDeleteAvec sa blondeur, cette couleur vert sapin lui va à ravir ; je la préfère dans cette tenue par rapport à la robe bleu-roi portée récemment !
ReplyDeleteThe original design of this jacket and skirt is with a pencil skirt. I suppose it was Queen Mathilde herself who asked for a wider skirt. I think she should have chosen the pencil skirt. When her hair is done in an updo, Queen Mathilde uses a false hairpiece. I love her shoes and her earrings. This time she also has chosen a red lipstick.
ReplyDeleteOn the 4th picture one can see NATO Secretary general Jens Stoltenberg, Belgian minister of Foreign affairs Hadja Lahbib and Belgian minister of Defense Ludivine De Donder and another person of NATO top Mr. Bauer.
Still one new year's reception to go next week.
Love to see the interior of the Castle of Laken, which has been renovated during the past years (I like the black profiles of the high interior doors which were painted white or cream, if I remember correctly).
Nice strong color. I don't know about the fit of this outfit.? The hemline is rounded why. css
ReplyDeleteLove the colour, the neckline of the jacket, the updo and I adore the shoes. Unfortunately the suit looks as if it has been hand sewn--the hem is strange, the sleeves look as if they have not been sewn properly into the armholes. It's especially obvious ion the third photo. Also not sure if the wide skirt is the most flattering for Queen Mathilde.
ReplyDeleteMathilde’s outfit looks almost exactly like a bridesmaid’s dress I wore in the early 90’s.
ReplyDeleteThe color of this outfit is beautiful, love the color. I'm not sure of the design or fit of the jacket, it looks ill fitting to me.
ReplyDeleteIch meine, Mathilde würde mit kurzen Haaren viel frischer und jugendlicher aussehen (so wie ihre Königliche Hoheit von Luxenburg)
ReplyDeleteQueen Mathilde cannot wear her hair as short as GD Maria Teresa as she must wear more often a tiara than Maria Teresa. Queen Mathilde needs her own hair in the back to mix it with the hairpiece(s) she is using when she wears a tiara.
DeleteLove the green colour, not the style.
ReplyDeleteAgree @Louise. Yes to the colour and fabric.
DeleteNo to the style.
Seems the designer has too much going on.

The color is nice, the fit and styling is very bad. Typical Natan. Awful.
ReplyDeleteThe original design was with a pencil skirt not the wide skirt Queen Mathilde apparently prefers.
DeleteNice shade of green on Mathilde. While the collar is large I like it and think it is quite chic. Pretty updo hairstyle too.
