  3. Absolutely LOVE this photo. Lots of smiles and affection.
Charlene looks like a supermodel in that beautiful velvet dress. So good to see her warm and happy. The children are so cute, and Albert looks regal and smart. (Looks like he has dropped quite a few pounds too, unless it's the magic of photography. Either way he looks great.)
The best Christmas family photo so far.

    1. Prince Albert looked not so slim in the other picture where he was dressed in a blue suit when distributing the red cross presents. The picture for the Christmas card was probably taken a while ago or has been photoshopped to make him look slimmer.
I do like Princess Charlene's dress but not the color. Gabriella's dark brown velvet dress is too somber for a little girl of her age. The picture could use a bright spot. If she was my daughter I'd dressed her in a cream or winter white velvet dress.

  8. My reaction is not "wow" although yes they look stunning.
Words which come to my mind are : display of wealth, overdressing for a picture... I prefer the card of William, Catherine and their family, the card of the Belgians and probably many other royal houses. So for me far away from the best.

  13. Both Charlene and Albert look great! The gold-brown dress is perfection, as are the hairstyle, makeup and smile. Children are cute. I bet Jacques will grow up to be a handsome man with amazing blue eyes like Paul Newman used to be.

  14. Wonderful photo and thank you for sharing. They are dressed beautifully in a festive setting and the best part is the gentle warmth from beautiful Charlene and the children and Albert‘s look of happiness and pride in his family. Her gown is a gorgeous and a bit unusual color and works exquisitely..

  15. This Christmas card is very interesting. The children are cuddly, which gives the photo an approchable element. The festive background conveys a traditional Christmas atmosphere, highlighting the proud princely couple. I much prefer the warmth and magic of this card to the somewhat cold, over-studied photo of the Wales family. My view.

    1. Can I ask you what is "cold" about the photo of the Wales family? Who don't you like? Children or Kate or Wiliam?

    2. It isn't matter of not "liking" the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children. They have a lovely family. But their Christmas card looks like they were gathered up in a mall studio to tale some random photo. It looks studied and lifeless. It has zero charm or Christmas vibe to it. And as much as I adore the Belgian Royal Family, I don't care much for their card either.

The winner so far is Monaco. It's almost perfect, if a little too glitzy. Princess Charlene in particular looks stunning.

    3. Agree with both Virginia and Lela with regards to the Wales. They pretend to be ‘ordinary’ and relaxed in jeans, but nothing natural with them. Constantly careful to be seen as a ‘perfect’ family.

  26. Love the velvet dress and how the Christmas tree is decorated to match the dress! Previous years, the Christmas tree has also been matching her different dresses and colors. Must have quite a lot of decoration stored... But which is the designer of the dress? Does anyone know?

  28. We have still several Christmas cards we have not seen yet. I prefer to wait with the "wow" and the "OMG" and the "O" and "Ah" until I saw them all.
Not everyone wants artificial snow on the ground of their living room and golden ornaments on the Christmas tree. The last years the Christmas trees were decorated often with natural elements like wooden angels and real winter fruit like nuts, apples, .... and red berries you find in nature. All the artificial golden and silver decorations make me think too much of Hollywood. It is not trendy anymore in a lot of countries. People want to get as much nature in their homes as possible and not only with Christmas.

    1. You went "Hollywood" on Christmas decor? 😆 I think of Christmas as a time for family and tradition, not a time to be "trendy". This has surely been staged for their Christmas card. They probably have a family tree in their private quarters that the children helped decorate. Knowing it would never meet with the approval of the Christmas card authorities found here, they created the perfect setting to get the most votes in the Annual Imaginary Best Royal Holiday Card Contest. I'm sure they will miss your vote, but will take note that you don't like the artificial snow (too Hollywood), and will keep in mind that the trend is to bring in as much nature as possible. To that end, next year you can expect Albert to fly in real snow to nestle under the trees and real birds to decorate the branches.

    2. Don't be so sarcastic. Long time ago when people only had nature to decorate their Christmas tree that is the real tradition, not the glass or plastic ornaments. It was also tradition to install statues of Jesus in his crib and his parents, Mary and Joseph and the statues of the 3 kings that came from different directions and brought presents for the newborn baby. During the ages Christmas became a time of praying for peace in the world (more needed than ever these days), a time of family gatherings with good food and presents, etc.....
PS. I didn't know there was such a thing like the "Best royal holiday card contest". To me this is not necessary at all.

    3. You deserved the snark. Deciding a Christmas card is too "Hollywood", whatever that means, and lacking in YOUR definition of proper decor, is absurd. Every tree is different, and every family decides what is important to them. Blown glass ornaments originated in Germany in the 1800's. Christmas trees were made popular by Queen Victoria and her German husband, Prince Albert. That is royal history. I'm not sure why you are mentioning a creche, nor do I know what it has to do with holiday cards. I would think each royal family tries to keep their cards as generic as possible since they are sent out all over the world to people of all faiths. You certainly don't need to lecture the class on the true meaning of Christmas. Each of the royal families are religious, and the royal family of Monaco is no exception. They are very devout. They probably have an hierloom creche, complete with Magi, that they enjoy privately. As I said, I don't know why you are bringing any of this up unless you assume they don't have one and think this is one more area you can find fault with. Lastly, as you point out that this is the time to pray for world peace, remember the little things as well. Celebrate the differences that make us uniquely who we are without finding fault in them. As long as you and others are judging Christmas/Holiday cards, you are showing a lack of tolerance. BTW, if you had read more carefully, you would have seen the actual title of the "contest": Annual IMAGINARY Best Royal Holiday Card Contest. This is a yearly embarrassment of people forgetting their manners and thinking they can judge personal Christmas cards when they are meant to be personal expressions of each family. There is no right or wrong, no rules. These cards don't have to be released to the public. The families do it out of kindness. What they get in return is an imaginary ranking and a list of what the public finds fault with instead of a thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! A much nicer way to start the year, don't you think?

Seule la famille princière de Monaco perpétue cette jolie tradition.
Les autres familles royales veulent jouer dans la simplicité alors que toute l année ils font étalage de leurs joyaux et tenues somptueuses que tout le monde admire

      @Anonymous yesterday at 23:48,

you sound paradoxical more than ever.
      'Positive, everyone?'
      Are you kidding?
What about you and your all year round loads of negativity spread on royal people- particularly women- on this blog?
You should start working on yourself, YOUR resident negativity and the often cruel way you judge any aspect of royal ladies and their lives.
Lately, you focused on royal men' s faults, bringing in even their weight and sexual life!
      Fancy that.
      You are incredibile.
Yes, of course being overweight- no matter if you are a Prince, Princess or a commoner- isn' t healthy but it' s none of your business.
And yes, trying escamotages to bodyshame royal people - be it ladies or gentlemen- is another of your poor ways of finding faults in anyone.
      I feel pity for you.
There's no bodyshaming brigade on this platform- as you put It on a post- just reasonable people like me who try hard to make you understand that your criticizing others for their physical aspect is WRONG.
Whatever the pretext you choose to justify your bad form , your cyberbullying cannot be justified.
I would be in a position to judge physical aspect as my body and height allow me to do so but I'll never go that way.
I will never find faults on people' s bodies.
it's just nastiness and it will never have room in the excellent upbringing I got since my tender years.
      What game are you playing?
May you please give all bloggers proof of having a wow aspect so that you can feel entitled to bring down others' bodies?
Change your life and views first and take long looks at your own mirror, please.
Above all , try to recover a little bit of your self- esteem, please.
Lastly, what did you expect from royal family Christmas cards?
Royal families owe you nothing, not even their wishes.
They are just being kind to the public, no matter what they choose to share.
