On December 9, 2023, Buckingham Palace shared King Charles and Queen Camilla's 2023 Christmas card. The photo was taken by Hugo Burnand on the day of their coronation on May 6. It shows King Charles and Queen Camilla in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace, wearing their ceremonial outfits.
I would prefer more simplicity for Christmas
ReplyDeleteSo do I.
DeleteWell, it's their first year as crowned heads. I understand this choice. Next year it will be more folksy again. Frieda
DeleteAgree!
DeleteRight...full regalia. So down to earth 😂🤣
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteModern monarchy very much down to earth as you said 😂
DeleteD.
What did they think ? That we should remember one more time the whole show of the coronation ? We know who they are. A simple but beautiful picture taken in a park or a garden with flowers and trees would be more appreciated.
ReplyDeleteAlways ridiculously OTT with the British royals. They should learn the friendliness and down to earth attitude from other royals. Reference to the beautiful Norwegian royal family to name a few! Pity for us being british!

Seems appropriate to mark their coronation year.

Plus de naturel dans cette carte de Noël aurait mieux convenu !
ReplyDeleteLovely photo to commemorate the coronation. I understand why KCIII chose to use this photo as this year was one of the most special of his and QC's lives and many people choose Xmas card photos to show that. Still, I wish we had a different photo from Charles and Camilla this year.

This is the complete opposite end of the scale to the Wales’s photo. There’s is totally understated with jeans & trainers for all. Understand why King Charles may have chosen this photo but a more casual and relaxed photo——- in colour, not B&W—— would have been preferable, imo.
ReplyDeleteThe first coronation in 70 years: I can understand that King Charles wanted that remembered at the ending of this special year.
ReplyDeleteThe last few years we have seen more informal and relaxed pictures on the Christmas card of the royal couple.
I find it a good choice,

I would have taken exactly the same picture if I had become a queen. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe K& Q Christmas card I feel a bit too much. A simpler event would have been better. I like the Wales card a real family, very nice. The way Louis has his hand on the chair, it looks like he is missing a finger. css
ReplyDeleteInteresting contrast - theirs is over-the-top and the Wales' is ... well, "under-the-top." It's not even in color. I think I prefer it when they pick a nice fall or winter candid shot from the previous year and use that as their Christmas photo. Sure, the kids may have grown a little since the pic was taken but at least it's more natural and less stiff. Nothing worse than looking like you're trying too hard.
