The Duchess of Edinburgh attended a reception on the occasion of Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, at Lancaster House, in London. The event was hosted by Minister of State for South Asia, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon. Diwali is a significant religious festival observed mostly by Hindus but Sikhs and Jains as well. Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas, which means 'Prisoner Release Day', which occurs on the same day as Diwali, so the two are combined.
Me+Em Sheer Crinkle Silk-blend Maxi Dress
Gorgeous, deep blue is perfect for Sophie! She looks marvelous and elegant.

Commenters will say … Sophie’s hemline is again too long … my thoughts? She likes them this way!!! … and don’t we all like to wear what we like to wear, regardless of our role? As long as we are comfortable and can be who we are in doing what we must, isn’t fashion broad enough to allow that personal choice? Wishing you all a great weekend, AnneLise
ReplyDeleteSo agree with you! Finally someone put into print what I’ve always thought! One can have opinions and like something more or less than other but we all have the freedom to wear and look like we do! And the royals are after all only humans and we can enjoy their outfits here! Its just great! Aggie
DeleteI also don't like a some of her hemlines, but I mostly don't comment on it. I do think this one is good. It's when she goes 10cm shorter, that's an odd length that makes her look shorter, in my opinion. But as you say, that's up to her. I think Sophie looks lovely in this dress, her make-up and the colour of the dress look really good on her. Damsel Dragonfly
DeleteHer make-up is lovely and soft. The waistline of the dress sits not right. It is too high. And as usual the dress is too long.
ReplyDeleteAgree with you but the beautiful colour and the beauty of the princess make up for the flaws imo
DeleteFluffed and ruffled and crinkled and gathered and transparent material overflow everywhere. That it is too long is the littlest of problems with this outfit. Sorry to say but this is simply an insult against good taste, very disappointing. (GM)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blue for the beautiful Princess.
ReplyDeleteLorraine (Rose).
Excellent makeup—really reveals her beautiful features.
ReplyDeleteEst-ce seulement un excellent make-up ? Quelque chose de changé au visage de Sophie. Au niveau des yeux notamment.
DeleteThe dress is pretty, but I don't like the ruffles/tiers of the skirt. The color suits her well. Her makeup looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel the same, Ava .
DeleteI would have preferred a straight skirt, these details look kinda of busy somehow.
The colour is spectacular, though, and suits Sophie beautifully.
Her hair and makeup are on point.
The Duchess must be such a kind, loving and approachable person, she has a sweet smile.
A hard working royal lady too.
Colour is lovely on her. Who is her hairstylist? Needs to know how to work with such fine hair, too flat on one side, shame it could have looked so much softer on her. The dress is a no for me , white button are too cheap on it and it makes her bust-line too low. Don’t these dressers give advice for underwear. All need to go back to school.
ReplyDeleteThe blue is very flattering. I wish Sophie could use the correct fitted under garments. Especially if she’s wearing a belt/tie/gathered waist. Sophie has a gorgeous figure, but,as the saying goes ‘the devil is in the detail!’ It can make or break a look. Bea
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and color. Great look for Dss Sophie. css
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress, but made for flatchested women with long arms. A pity the design doesn’t really flatter PS’s figure. It would be nice if the designer took to heart that most women have boo..!
