Queen Mathilde visited the GVKS Groenendaal kindergarten in Merksem as part of the “Reading Week” that takes place from November 18 to 26, 2023. The Queen read out a passage from a book for the children from the third kindergarten class. The Queen then participated in a round table discussion about this theme and the importance of reading buddies.
The reading week is an annual campaign organized by the non-profit organization "Everybody Reads" with the aim of highlighting the importance and pleasure of reading aloud. The organization mainly focuses on making reading accessible for everyone.
DeleteBeautiful photo of queen Mathilde embracing the little boy !!
ReplyDeleteShe has such great style, classic and at the same time very contemporary,

I don't normally like the coral colors, but this jacket and color are beautiful. Love the pants. What a great visit. The Queen looks right at home with the little ones, she does marvellous work.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit on Queen Mathilde. The red/orange jacket suits her and I see she is wearing a new dark grey coat. She wore about the same coat in light beige lately. The boots with block heels are a nice change for her stiletto's. The modern earrings match the color of her jacket.
ReplyDeletePerfectly fine outfit. I just don't care for leather at business events. css
ReplyDeleteI like the orange jacket but the cape with its various raggedy bits is daft
ReplyDeleteIt is a coat with an attached shawl. She just hasn't put her arms into the sleeves.
DeleteGreat outfit for Mathilde. Great occasion also. I'd love to know which book she read. Does anyone know?

Probably a book written in Dutch, because Merksem is in the Flemish part of Belgium.
DeleteI cannot see any title but the objective is to promote reading aloud among (young) friends. The club she is visiting is looking for more "friends'.
DeleteIt is not a club but a school. These are children of the 3rd year kindergarten. Next school year they are going to the 1st year primary or basic school where they will learn to read, etc... The goal is to find "buddies", people who are prepared to read aloud for the children who cannot read themselves yet. There are a lot of immigrants among these children whose mothers are following courses in Dutch to be able to support their children in their education. At home these children are speaking an Arab language.
DeleteSuch a beautiful elegant lady--love this outfit. The scarlet jacket is a wonderful pop of color with the gray trousers and cape.
