On November 25, 2023, Danish Queen Margrethe paid a visit to "The monument for Denmark’s international efforts since 1948" at the Citadel (Kastellet) in Copenhagen. At the Kastellet in Copenhagen, there is an information center where the many international operations and missions that Denmark has participated in with both its civilian and military personnel since 1948 are told. The information center opened in 2020.
Beautiful dress in a style that is a bit different from what she usually wears to these occasions. Nice flare of the skirt.
ReplyDeleteyes very different beautiful dress, one needs a lady-in-waiting to do the back zipper
DeleteSo @missy, do as Camilla does, put the zip on the front ... ugly
DeleteDaisy looks happy and interesting and interested as per usual, she’s impressively consistent. I worry for older people in public roles and the effort it takes and hope they find the right time to hand over the reins and enjoy a bit of well earned happy retirement. - AnneLise
ReplyDeleteI think she won't give up soon. She is from a generation like the late Queen Elizabeth II and King Harald of Norway. They continue until they die.
DeleteShe has said in interviews that she will never retire, you never know though!
DeleteNot everyone wants to retire, the boredom of it!
Deletethis is only one event this week, its gives her purpose
Neither Scandinavia or England hand over the reign. This is tradition. It's macabre to say this, but they die on the job. As King Harald said - Once you have taken an oath to the parlament, it lasts for life. It's that simple for me. We're at it until the bitter end. There is something about the king is dead, long live the King. And Queen Margrethe said about Frederik:-- He will be king when I am no longer here. She also joked she would be sitting until she fell of the stick(meaning throne/job). If they are not able to do their duty we will get a crown prince regent, but we will not get a abdication.
DeleteThere must be a first time for everything and an urgent reason to do so. Before Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands none of her ancestors did abdicate. In Belgium before former King Leopold III no other king abdicated, but Leopold abdicated for his son King Baudouin because there was an urgent reason. (The attitude of King Leopold III during WWII, which was not accepted by the majority of the people and the government). History repeated itself when former king Albert II abdicated for his son Phillippe. (There was also an urgent reason : the king's health that was not good anymore and the whole history around Princess Delphine).
Delete15:06 this is not true. The Dutch royal house has a tradition with abdication. William I abdicated in 1840. Wilhelmina abdicated in 1948. Juliana abdicated in 1980 and Beatrix in 2013.
Delete@ Louise, sorry you are right. I forgot Queen Juliana. From the other queens before her, I did not know they abdicated. Thx.

DeletePrincess Beatrix of The Netherlands is still a busy lady. I think she does not feel bored. She went to the Caribbean region lately. In The Netherlands she regularly shows up to visit a number of organizations she used to support in the past and she still does. Now and then she still accompany King W.A. and Queen Max. and her grandchildren to special events where the royal family is involved.
Sometimes a king or a queen cannot continue until they die. They are also human beings like anybody else and when your health does not allow it anymore, you cannot go on like you used to do. Not everyone has the health of Queen Elizabeth II.
I love her in that royal purple color.
ReplyDeleteMrs C
Robe dont la jupe est élégamment évasée, ce qui convient bien à la silhouette de la reine !
ReplyDeleteHM looks lovely in her purple dress--and its a bit different than styles we usually see her wear. This shade of purple is beautiful on her. Her handbag is so chic! She is an amazing lady.
ReplyDeleteJanet
This dress is a glorious shade of purple. The cut of the dress, suits the Queen. She looks happy, engaging and beautiful. Love the handbag!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, Ava.
DeleteThe Queen looks stunningly cool.
She paired a trendy satured purple dress with this fabulous bag, which has different names in relation to its design.
It Is called ' frame', handle bag, Kelly bag.
The Birkin style bag Is a little different and I love both design, indeed my favourite ones.
Oops, I forgot to mention the fabulous black coat.
DeleteThe matching black/ purple looks gorgeous, so stylish and classy.
This is not the Kelly bag by Hermes. Queen Sylvia of Sweden owns a Kelly bag in light beige which she still used last Summer.
DeleteIf you google "kelly bag by Hermes" you will see it is a complete different bag.
Please @ Anonymous at 18:33,
Deletecould you possibily try to elaborate just a tad or a tiny bit of my comments before addressing me?
I never and nowhere wrote that Queen Margrethe's bag has anything to do with the original Kelly bag by Hermes, which stands apart in a world of its own.
The mere design of SOME frame bags is sometimes referred to as Kelly- like design and this does not mean in the least that they are produced by Hermes or are dupes.
They are just similar in shape like Margrethe's one (at least for what I can spot in the pics above).
Period.
This design is something other brands draw inspiration from only as far the shape or frame is concerned..
Period.
Hermes pieces and accessories are very much beyond your imagination and with so many zeros in their tag prices so your mentioning even one of them is out of place.
I bet you never happened to see one original Hermes bag, just Queen Silvia showing it in a few pics, did you?
Ok, need proof?
I didn' t want to tell it openly but I myself owe an original Hermes bag like the one Q.Silvia sported sometimes
I got it last Christmas , it was a gift.
I didn' t want to embarass anybody but I owe a few pieces by Hermes not only the bag so I know the original shape and quality of these products.
I do not need to google anything from Hermes, I can just have a look at my closet to see them .
By the way, the Kelly bag you mentioned comes out in different colours for all seasons, not just the one you saw on Silvia.
Thank you.
Amen. Are you satisfied now ? Do you think you are the only one that know things ? The fact that you always must praise yourself show how little you are praised by others. Other people also have valuable things you know, but they are quiet about it. With everything what is going on in the Western world today, one cannot be careful enough.
DeleteOk, @ Anonymous 10:07,
DeleteI expected you to reverse the clear meaning of my comment, you just can't help yourself.
Did you want me to lie or to tell you the truth?
If you ask somebody to google for information about the Kelly bag by Hermes you think that the person - me in the present case- do not know anything about It and was confused about Q.Margrethe' s bag.
Fact is that I didn' t even mentioned the original Kelly bag by Hermes so you wrote back on the ground of your own imagination.
That's what your words imply and what a normal' person like me reads in your words.
I told you the truth.you cannot stand, the one that makes you go bananas, namely that I also owe high- end pricey pieces.
Please, spare me the praising blathering as you do not know anything about how and by whom I am praised.
Much more than you and by many, in real life, anyway.
Of course, I do not expect anything by someone with a very low self-esteem like you' ve always showed to have throughout your commentaries.
Material things are the matter of discussion on this blog.
If you want to talk to sisters in a cloister living in poverty and acquainted with severe discipline and way of life, , then I think you should consider trying to contact them.
I do not believe for a moment that you owe high -end pieces, otherwise you wouldn't linger on this platform always bashing (or cyberbullying , just to call a spade a spade) royal beautiful women for the prices of their purchases and the wealthy they showcase in all possibile ways.
And when you run out of pretexts to target them, you resort to bodyshaming them or to their having undergone plastic surgery.
What did you expect from royal ladies, to be destituted dowdy ugly people?
Your envy is gonna lead you nowhere.
Please, try to think over things
and elaborate before writing down your mindless comments and then do not be surprised at the replies you get.
You know nothing about me, so stop you accusations. You start talking about things that don't come to my mind at all. Again you gave new proof about the fact that you think you are better than other people. I can tell you the following : do continue to spread lies about me and all the other bloggers you have already attacked, if that can help to relax your twisted mind. With me everything is O.K., I am completely happy.
DeleteThe Anonymous here sounds again like ”Vanessa” refering to the ”Western world” over and over again..
DeleteThe Queen looks very nice. Also, a rich color blue or purple. css
ReplyDeleteLovely colour of dress in a flattering style.
